MANNHEIM STEAMROLLER: CHRISTMAS IN CONCERT:

Mannheim Steamroller have been innovators of the neo-classical genre for over 40 years, blending the finest orchestral sections with electronic elements and a hint of rock to arrive at their remarkably unique sound. Not only are their live performances sonically robust, but they're visually stimulating as well, featuring an incredible light show and illustrations that dance across giant projection screens. Whether they're playing originals like "Catching Snowflakes on Your Tongue" or classics like "Joy to the World," Mannheim Steamroller will have fans in the holiday spirit this season on their 2014 Christmas tour.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Mannheim Steamroller is the alias of composer Chip Davis, who created the moniker from "Mannheim roller", a musical technique that was popular in Germany during the 1700s. Davis initially sought a record label to release his music, but the lack of interest led to the creation of his own label American Gramophone for his 1975 debut album Fresh Aire. He went on to release seven more albums in the Fresh Aire series, six of which were certified gold by the RIAA. His biggest success, however, came in 1984 with the release of Mannheim Steamroller Christmas, a massive hit and enduring classic of contemporary holiday music. Since then, his Christmas catalog has grown to include thirteen records, containing some of Steamroller's biggest hits and holding the distinction of being some of the most requested Christmas music of all time.  With more than 28 million albums sold in the US, Mannheim Steamroller will carry their musical enthusiasm with them throughout their 2014 shows.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"I loved the Christmas concert!! The music, the video, and the interaction with the audience is amazing! I would definitely go see them again!"

  • Recommended Holiday Concert

by Kay on 11/22/24North Charleston Performing Arts Center - North CharlestonRating: 4 out of 5

The musicians are excellent and the arrangements of the traditional holiday music is refreshing. The videos need updating as they are are very dated and old fashioned and the strobe lights need to be toned down as they were blinding at times. Our favorite was the Little Drummer Boy.

  • Disappointed

by Nansea on 11/22/24North Charleston Performing Arts Center - North CharlestonRating: 2 out of 5

Musically tight, but not very "Christmasy"...no decorations, not dressed in holiday clothes and not very upbeat music. Left during intermission before I fell asleep.

  • Great show. Synthetics were amazing.

I finally saw Mannheim Steamroller! The music was good. Visuals were good. Venue good. It has been a long time since I enjoyed a concert so dedicated to synthesizers.

  • Magnificent!

by Donna on 11/21/24Montgomery Performing Arts Centre - MontgomeryRating: 5 out of 5

What a wonderful treat I enjoyed on my theater visit to to see the Manheim Orchestra. I am so proud of our central Alabama area to have such a fine auditorium and concert hall as MPAC. Every seat is always so accommodating to seeing the stage and the sound is always excellent. This may have been my favorite concert yet. Please share with the City of Montgomery that the parking lot on Tallapoosa Streets’ new exit plan for cars to depart from your concerts is about the worst I’ve ever seen. With 200+ cars, leaving at the same time and requiring you to pay your parking ticket as you leave, we were in the parking lot for about 45 minutes trying to get out and there were still cars behind us. Under the old system you paid as you entered the lot and seldom had back-up of more than a few cars. I hope that this problem doesn’t deter people from attending your concerts, which are always excellent.

The music, lights and backdrop were awesome! Well worth the money spent! I would definitely go again and recommend everyone to attend as well!

Got my boyfriend tickets to Mannheim Steamroller for his birthday. We took my 4 year old daughter as well and had a blast. The concert was wonderful and got us in the holiday spirit.

  • Same as last time

by Music Lover on 11/21/24Alerus Center - Grand ForksRating: 3 out of 5

The concert was very similar to the one I attended 5 or 6 years ago. The videos are old and outdated. While the performers are wonderful, the music is very similar and there hasn't been a noticeable change or update over the years. I don't anticipate attending again.

  • Wonderful concert

by Lee on 11/21/24Alerus Center - Grand ForksRating: 5 out of 5

It was an amazing performance! I’ve wanted to attend before but it didn’t happen so I was pleased it worked out this year 😊

  • Music was great!

by Granny on 11/21/24The St. Augustine Amphitheatre - St AugustineRating: 4 out of 5

I really enjoyed the music. Didn’t quite understand the videos shown with the music. Would rather have see the individual performers on the big screen. It’s more fun to match the instrument with the music. First time at the St. Augustine Ampetheater, so parking was a nightmare.

I had wanted to see Mannheim Steamroller for years and finally got the chance. They did not disappoint in any way, shape or form. If you want to see a great holiday show, I highly recommend this one!

  • Mediocre

by Family night on 11/21/24Alerus Center - Grand ForksRating: 3 out of 5

It wasn't what i expected. The band/Orchestra was small and the sound was not the best due to large stadium, could have been a better venue with better acoustics

  • Music Amazing, Video Lacking

by Skrazilla on 11/20/24Mystic Lake Casino Hotel - Prior LakeRating: 4 out of 5

The musical part of the show was spectacular, everything you would expect. The video in the background should have been accentuating the music, instead it was a collection of amateurish dated video that was often distracting from the whole experience.

  • A perfect way to start the holiday season

by Cgb on 11/20/24Mystic Lake Casino Hotel - Prior LakeRating: 5 out of 5

Wonderful music and venue, easy parking and overall great experience

  • Wonderful

by Manheim Steamroller on 11/20/24Montgomery Performing Arts Centre - MontgomeryRating: 5 out of 5

Mashed Steamroller is a group whose recordings I’ve listened to for about 50 years, but this was my first time to hear them live! Their music was even more impressive live than it is in recording!! The concert was well worth the price of the tickets!

  • Just AWESOME!

by Allenb125 on 11/20/24Mystic Lake Casino Hotel - Prior LakeRating: 5 out of 5

This is definitely one of the best concerts, if not the best, I've ever been to! I've seen them before but this was orders of magnitude better! I would definitely recommend to anyone who enjoys good music to see this.

  • Great show
