MANNHEIM STEAMROLLER: CHRISTMAS IN CONCERT:

Mannheim Steamroller have been innovators of the neo-classical genre for over 40 years, blending the finest orchestral sections with electronic elements and a hint of rock to arrive at their remarkably unique sound. Not only are their live performances sonically robust, but they're visually stimulating as well, featuring an incredible light show and illustrations that dance across giant projection screens. Whether they're playing originals like "Catching Snowflakes on Your Tongue" or classics like "Joy to the World," Mannheim Steamroller will have fans in the holiday spirit this season on their 2014 Christmas tour.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Mannheim Steamroller is the alias of composer Chip Davis, who created the moniker from "Mannheim roller", a musical technique that was popular in Germany during the 1700s. Davis initially sought a record label to release his music, but the lack of interest led to the creation of his own label American Gramophone for his 1975 debut album Fresh Aire. He went on to release seven more albums in the Fresh Aire series, six of which were certified gold by the RIAA. His biggest success, however, came in 1984 with the release of Mannheim Steamroller Christmas, a massive hit and enduring classic of contemporary holiday music. Since then, his Christmas catalog has grown to include thirteen records, containing some of Steamroller's biggest hits and holding the distinction of being some of the most requested Christmas music of all time.  With more than 28 million albums sold in the US, Mannheim Steamroller will carry their musical enthusiasm with them throughout their 2014 shows.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"I loved the Christmas concert!! The music, the video, and the interaction with the audience is amazing! I would definitely go see them again!"

  • Ehhh - skip it

by Beach girl on 11/29/24San Jose Center for the Performing Arts - San JoseRating: 3 out of 5

I was excited to spend an energetic evening with Mannheim. Rather, it was a metronome like performance with small bursts of energy. Everyone played their part - literally, but very little emotion - except from the drummers. Ho hum. Next year, I’ll try some jazz!

  • Make it a family tradition

by Music connoisseur on 11/29/24San Jose Center for the Performing Arts - San JoseRating: 5 out of 5

My husband of 55 years and I have seen Mannheim Steamroller Orchestra many times over the years He recently passed away and I felt it was important to keep going to something we loved so much I took my adult daughter who is an elementary Principal and boyfriend to the San Jose performance They agreed that the music is amazing and full of energy. We all agreed that we will keep the family tradition of going annually Can't wait for next year!!

  • Great music, but a bit too loud.

by Tom on 11/29/24San Jose Center for the Performing Arts - San JoseRating: 5 out of 5

Loved the music. Volume was almost painfully loud. Some videos were too grainy. Maybe trying to be nostalgic ? Overall, super glad we went.

  • Awesome Spectacular Amazing

by Early Christmas on 11/29/24San Jose Center for the Performing Arts - San JoseRating: 5 out of 5

Awesome show from start to finish. An amazing way to celebrate the holidays. The music was energized, beautiful and festive as well as the screen imagery. The snow was special and the musicians did a spectacular performance. I highly recommend seeing Mannheim Steamroller and will see them again. Thank you Mannheim for an amazing show!

  • Great music

The music was fantastic. The videos in the background were dated and added very little to the experience

  • PBS Pledge Drive Concert Live

by Scott on 11/27/24Angel Of The Winds Arena - EverettRating: 3 out of 5

This event was exemplary of concerts that PBS would broadcast during pledge drives. So it was a decent concert, but not exciting. I rate the performance four stars, and the venue three stars. (They had issues with getting everyone in the doors before the show started.)

  • Great

by Clune on 11/27/24Ilani Cowlitz Ballroom - RidgefieldRating: 5 out of 5

The manheilm steamrollers were great but we were not fond of venue. This group would have been fun to watch from stadium seating

  • Hard seats

by Kiti on 11/26/24Angel Of The Winds Arena - EverettRating: 3 out of 5

The performance was spectacular. The location of our seats was fantastic. The seats themselves were horrid. They were very badly padded. Really hard and narrow. The floor was over the ice, I think, so my feet were freezing by the end. I won't be getting the floor seats, if I come the this venue again.

  • Amazing

The country was great the music was great I just wish that those with disabilities could get in a few minutes earlier than the show to facilitate seating and other needs in regards to disability

My 15 year old great nephew loved the show. He stayed the whole show and enjoyed it. Manheim is so talented. Great show!!

  • 1st Live Concert in Decades

by DeadPossum on 11/26/24Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts - GreensboroRating: 4 out of 5

Had a great time! Musicians blended perfectly. Music was seasonal. Enjoyed ourselves greatly. There's some confusion about handicapped parking and how to reach the venue but overall it was great! Mannheim Steamroller was definitely worth the wait and the walk.

  • Manheim christmas

by Mary on 11/26/24Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts - GreensboroRating: 5 out of 5

I was a little nervous the strobe lighting might be too much or the sound might be really loud but both were great. Super talented group and it was a nice kickoff to the Christmas season. Would recommend to anyone who might enjoy orchestra with a beat

by Candus on 11/26/24Angel Of The Winds Arena - EverettRating: 5 out of 5

One of the best gifts you can give yourself. The music is fabulous & the musicality is beyond expectation. Wonderful evening to kick off the Christmas season

  • Horrible! No diversity, poor quality!

by LC on 11/26/24Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts - GreensboroRating: 1 out of 5

Experience was not great at all. The quality of the event was poor and no diversity in production at all. It is only geared towards a certain audience! Paid 100+ dollars expecting a grand performance and was entirely dissatisfied; left during intermission. Will never attend this event again.

  • Great concert!

by Joyce on 11/26/24Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts - GreensboroRating: 5 out of 5

I enjoyed the great expertise of this group and the quality of the music. I didn’t like the laser lights shining in my eyes.

  • Amazing Experience

Such a talented group and is absolutely one of the best concerts I’ve ever seen! I would love to see the begin if they come to my area!
