    Great Family Night

by breezy on 12/14/21Cross Insurance Arena (Formerly Cumberland County Civic Center) - Portland

My husband, son (5) & I went last friday evening. We had the absolute best time. The food and drinks were priced affordably. The staff were friendly and helpful. No lines at all. Our only complaint was about the very rude and obnoxious fan. Yelling obscene things to the opposing team, really took away from the family atmosphere.

    Maine Mariners Hockey game disappointment

by Laurie on 12/8/21Cross Insurance Arena (Formerly Cumberland County Civic Center) - Portland

We searched for seats that we thought would make it easy for an elderly friend who has limited mobility join us for a game. We paid $53 a ticket. The seat was actually perfect for her. However we were surrounded by a large group of young kids having a birthday party. They were not interested in the game and they constantly moved around. The back of my seat was repeatedly being kicked by a kid in Mom’s lap and she did nothing. If we had know we were going to be in the middle of that craziness we would have tried to find another option. Not sure if we will ever try that again. We will go to a college hockey game instead.

    Great evening with the Mariners

by Jim on 12/7/21Cross Insurance Arena (Formerly Cumberland County Civic Center) - Portland

Four of us went to see the Mariners play the Adirondack Thunder the other night. We had a great time, made even better by the fact that one of the ushers, seeing that my wife was walking with a cane (post knee surgery) moved us to seats that didn't require going up a lot of steep stairs. It was also wonderful to see fans showering the ice with teddy bears after the Mariners' goal - hopefully to brighten the holiday for a lot of youngsters. Sadly, the Mariners lost, but it was a fun evening!

    ME Mariners

by Rick on 11/17/21Cross Insurance Arena (Formerly Cumberland County Civic Center) - Portland

Overall experience was an A. Choosing seating location was D. The seating chart should also include seat numbers to more precisely selecting aisle seats.

    Family fun at Mariners Game

by Megan Z on 11/8/21Cross Insurance Arena (Formerly Cumberland County Civic Center) - Portland

We went to the game on $1, $2, $3 night. Dollar popcorn, 2 dollar hotdogs, and three dollar draft bud light. Kids had a great time and we didn't spend much on food/drinks.

    Great fun for everyone

by Chrissy Michaud on 10/25/21Cross Insurance Arena (Formerly Cumberland County Civic Center) - Portland

We always have a great time when we go to the Maine Mariners! It was great to be back at the Cross Insurance Arena in person after being away for a while due to COVID. The crowd was great and every precaution was taken to make sure safety came first. The game was fantastic! My first date with my Husband was at a Portland Pirates game 26 years ago, so it has always been very special to us to go to a hockey game there.

    COVID policies

by Bmxer on 10/25/21Cross Insurance Arena (Formerly Cumberland County Civic Center) - Portland

Make sure you check the Covid Policy with the venue BEFORE purchasing tickets. I know it sounds like common sense but I looked for specifics about the venue I was purchasing on the Ticketmaster website before purchasing and since I didn’t see anything specific pertaining to the event or venue I was going to attend, other than “you accept all Covid exposure responsibilities” or something similar, I wasn’t aware vaccine cards or negative test would be required for entry. I should have known to check the venue policies so fair warning

    FAST & FUN

by Captain Dave on 3/9/20Cross Insurance Arena (Formerly Cumberland County Civic Center) - Portland

The Maine Mariners & The Cross Insurance Arena are a wonderful combination. A great facility with wonderful friendly and helpful employees and an exciting hockey team that gives every ounce they have right up to the final buzzer. The games are fast and exciting and the kid friendly atmosphere is fun to be a part of. The Mariners players and staff are very easy to like and get behind. For my family the three hour round trip is worth it. We never go home disappointed, even on those rare occasions when the Mariners lose the game. We know our team is giving maximum effort on the ice. The games are fast and exciting and we are proud of the Mariners.

    Great game!

by L. P. on 3/4/20Cross Insurance Arena (Formerly Cumberland County Civic Center) - Portland

We had a great time! The game was awesome, great entertainment and the post game skate was a lot of fun! Unfortunately, another family had gotten there before us and sat in our seats, we let them know they were in our seats and they said, "Our child is skating after the first period and we will leave after that." So rather then teaching their children decency, and politely moving to their own seats, they stayed in ours for the entire game. We were seated about 8 rows behind them (where our purchased seats were), and were still able to see the rink. My son (5 years old) had a great time! We enjoyed pretzels and pop corn and got to take pictures with Beacon! We will definitely come again!

by Recent Hockey addict on 2/11/20Cross Insurance Arena (Formerly Cumberland County Civic Center) - Portland

The mariners hockey organization does a fantastic job of keeping the fans involved and making the entire experience entertaining. I would recommend this to everyone, I've never been a hockey fan but now I'm Hooked! So much fun being there. If you've ever been to a seadogs game this is alot like that with games and things to keep you involved.

    Great affordable family experience

by Iggy on 2/11/20Cross Insurance Arena (Formerly Cumberland County Civic Center) - Portland

We had a blast! Great atmosphere, decent seats with a good view, and semi-affordable food...small enough for my 13- and 16- to venture and find their way back too. I highly recommend this as a family outing

    END TO END ACTION!!!!

by Captain Dave on 2/10/20Cross Insurance Arena (Formerly Cumberland County Civic Center) - Portland

ECHL hockey is fast and fun!! The Maine Mariners and their opponents in the ECHL bring an exciting brand of hockey to the Cross Insurance Arena in Portland. Our most recent game, either the 3rd or 4th that we have attended this season, was a hard fought nail biter. We are never disappointed in the quality of play or the effort put forth by the players on both teams. The Mariners have great fans and the players are quick to acknowledge that fact at the end of a game. The concession stands are staffed by the kind of friendly and helpful personnel that just add to the whole experience. Top notch excitement is exactly what you get with your ticket to a Mariners' game in Portland.

    FAST - FUN - EXCITING!

by Captain Dave on 1/28/20Cross Insurance Arena (Formerly Cumberland County Civic Center) - Portland

Maine Mariners hockey is very entertaining. The players in the ECHL are talented and hard working. It is easy to tell that they love playing for their fans and it is easy to tell that their fans love their effort and skills. The games that my family has attended this season have been very exciting and we love our usual seats in the corner where critical action takes place practically in our laps. The Cross Center in Portland has a great staff that is always helpful, friendly and polite. Maine Mariners Hockey is great entertainment for fans of all ages at a very reasonable price. We love OUR Mariners!

Ignorant and rude people in section S. January 24th game

by F. L. on 1/27/20Cross Insurance Arena (Formerly Cumberland County Civic Center) - Portland

I had the worst experience ever, people are so rude. Is it possible to put messages on the board to teach people the rules of hockey etiquette. Not to walk in front of you while the game is in play. Teach your kids not to kick the back of your seat and not to wave banners or other props and hit you in the back of the head.

Drunken mess - over served drinks

by Jguru23 on 1/7/20Cross Insurance Arena (Formerly Cumberland County Civic Center) - Portland

I have attended events here for over 25-years and this season there is a major over serving issue with the alcohol. There were a number of people intoxicated and by the 3rd several were slurring and stumbling. It made for a miserable experience for everyone else. I remember when sporting events sold beer but now they serve a full range of alcoholic beverages which is ridiculous. The couple next to us were served cups filled with straight vodka. A family sporting event is not the place for drunken nonsense as there are too many kids around. Friends of of ours have said that they see the same thing at games. Shame on your Cross Arena.

Maine Mariners Hockey - Fast & Exciting

by Captain Dave on 12/29/19Cross Insurance Arena (Formerly Cumberland County Civic Center) - Portland

My family was absolutely delighted with the quality of hockey on display at the Cross Insurance Arena in Portland on December 26th, 2019. I did not realize that the ECHL hockey teams were so skilled. The pinpoint passing by the players on both teams made for a very exciting and fun game to watch. In the past my family had attended many games of the old AHL teams that played in Portland. We were very disappointed when they left. What a pleasant surprise for us to observe the quality of hockey played by ECHL teams. Both teams that we saw were well coached and the smooth tape-to-tape passing made for made for a smooth, well played, and exciting game. We will be going back to see the Mariners play again. It is well worth the price of admission.
