About

Madonna launched her debut tour in 1985 — The Virgin Tour — in the United States and Canada. Shortly thereafter, she toured the world for the first time, embarking in 1987 in support of Who's That Girl. Over the ensuing four decades, Madonna would ignite the world with the most controversial and dynamic pop shows ever mounted, selling out nearly every tour — in its entirety — in seconds. To date, Madonna has performed about 700 shows across 11 concert tours, generating over $1 billion in ticket sales, and is the highest-grossing female touring artist of all time.

    Madonna Totally DISAPOINTED!

by Madonnamannh on 9/7/12TD Garden - Boston

I am a huge Madonna fan. I am 40 years old and have LOVED Madonna since I was 11 years old. I have been to well over 10 Madonna concerts now over the past 22 years. I am no fool. This recent MDNA show on Sept 4th in Boston, MA was a disappointment. First of all, Madonna was two and a half HOURS LATE!!! REALLY? Did not take the stage until 10:30 PM. Madonna please remember who your fans are now. 30-40 year olds and have to get up at 5:00am to go to work. Also what is up with Madonna lip syncing? I noticed she did this for some songs but not all songs. I understand taped back up vocals now and then but why? Was she saving her voice? The songs she actually sang were wonderful and an incredible job. Too many theatrics. Please less theatrics and more emphasis the music. I paid $180 per ticket. I deserve better. Has Madonna lost her groove or mind?

Don't waste your time or money

    by Tracy202 on 9/7/12TD Garden - Boston

For starters, she was 21/2 hours late going on stage. The amount of money some people pay for her tickets and to be that late getting on stage was unprofessional and downright rude! The concert was very dark. Not like a concert you would expect from Madonna. I have been to every tour she has put on since 1990 and have loved every concert. I got up and walk out about an hour into the show it was so poorly put together. Elton John was right...she is slipping!

Not going to another event at the Fleet Centre for over a year. Protesting. She didn't start until 10:30 am. Said 8 am on the ticket. Work, Kids, Wife logistics. Not going again for a year. I spend $2000 as a family per year. Just went to zero!

    Madonna

by pamelaro on 9/7/12TD Garden - Boston

Madonna is an exceptional perfomer. Have seen her before, but this time she didn't come on stage until 10:20pm. Her opening number was a DJ that played over an hour. I didn't have to pay concert ticket prices to hear/see that. Even though I love her, I was disappointed that she had no regard for her fans time and let us sit there so long before she came on. Don't get me wrong, I didn't expect her to come out at 8:00 when the show started. And I could have done without the song about her killling her lover in the head...disturbing effects of blood splatter on the screen behind her...yuck! Tough to give it an overall rating as the show was great, the wait kind of overshadowed it some for me.

    madonna was great

    by mdna2 on 9/7/12TD Garden - Boston

The DJ prior to Madonna was too long...If I'd know that she would not go on until 10pm, I would have shown up like most of the crowd did - at quarter to 10!

Madonna - please never again like this!

by sysdawg on 9/7/12Yankee Statium - NY

Ticket showed a 8:00 start time but the opening act, Avicii, didn't start until 8:30. Why not 8:05 or 8:10? He played 60 min, had a single console and the changeover to Madonna's staging took maybe 10-15 min., yet they made us wait 45 minutes between the opener and Madonna. What the heck? All told, 75 min of downtime (pre and post opener) when it should have been 30 tops. When it came to Madonna, I really felt there was too much material from her newest album, and too little of the tried and true favorites. Disappointing, overall.

    A spectacle to behold

by Qzjkrt on 9/7/12TD Garden - Boston

It's hard to describe Madonna's live show as a concert - it's a performance piece, a spectacle of music, dance and high drama. So much is going on at once - I could see the show over and over again and never see it the same way twice. Madonna goes to some dark places in this show so I wouldn't recommend it to a casual fan - also, it's not a greatest hits extravaganza. It's Madonna telling her fans what she wants them to hear. I was thrilled to be there to listen and watch - stunning.

    Exellent as usual.

    by PJRose27 on 9/7/12TD Garden - Boston

This was my third time seeing Madonna and she was great as usual. My only complaint is she didn't come on stage till 10. She didn't do that the other two times I saw here. Love the music but wish she did some more of her classics. Did like what she did with "Express Yourself" by mixing in that awful Gaga's "Born The Way" that sounds an awful lot like Madonna's classic. Love MADONNA!

She's still got it, even at 52!

    by gorgom1025 on 9/7/12TD Garden - Boston

Madonna was A-MAY-ZING! She was incredible. This was the first time I saw her in concert and all I have to say is that even though she is 52, she can still strut her stuff like a perky 20 year old! She also did a few shout outs to Boston, talking about how great the city is, and all the schools in it, and blah blah blah. But I still appreciated her saying that. Usually artists don't even talk about the city they're in beyond saying "Hello _____!" The only downside to the show was waiting through a mediocre DJ for two hours before she actually got on stage. But, as the local newspaper wrote, "Madonna does what Madonna wants". But that's why we all love her so much.

    Madonna Puts On Tremendous Show

by Ronthepharmacyguy on 9/7/12TD Garden - Boston

Show was scheduled to begin at 8:00pm, but didn't start until 10:15pm!! However frustrating that was, it was worth the wait, as Madonna did not fail to put on a fantastic show. Not your typical concert. The band was barely in view.....tucked away in the rear corners of the stage. This is b/c the main focus of a Madonna concert is the THEATRICAL PERFORMANCE. It was like watching a live video for each song. The stage was an incredible piece of engineering.....constantly changing for each song. Madonna went through about a dozen costume changes during the concert. Also, she is still in excellent physical condition. She definitely spends a lot of time in a gym. The highlights of the show, in my opinion, were renditions of Vogue & Like A Prayer. I tried to upload one of videos from the concert, but they are not available to be shared at this time. If any of you get the chance to go to one of her concerts, I highly recommend it. She puts on a show like no other.....and spares no expense to make sure it is impressive. She's been recording music now for more than 30 years. She is an icon.

    Madonna Not Worth the Wait

    by Tommie41250 on 9/7/12TD Garden - Boston

The concert did not start at 8PM but at 10:20PM after two hours of watching a DJ attempt to build excitement. Definitely not worth the wait. TD Garden had very poor acoustics so most of the actual concert, once it started, was just alot of noise. Bottom line, Madonna is not worth the wait.

I heard many complaining that she performed mostly new songs that they didn't recognize . . . well duh, it's the tour for her new album (MDNA). Like most fans, I too was there to hear her oldies, but was very prepared to sit through unfamiliar (and in my opinion, not as awesome) songs in order to get a chance to see her perform my favorite oldies live! It was well worth the wait. And, she puts on a great and entertaining show. My one complaint is that no one dances in Boston.... what the hell?

    not what i expected

    by Newfie123 on 9/7/12TD Garden - Boston

I know madonna never has an opening act but a DJ? I could have stayed home the extra 2.5 hours.she came on after 1030 for an 8pm show. The first 3 numbers consisted of her shooting people and blood splattering on a screen.after this it improved. Love her costumes and the set. Song with Nikki Manaj. Was awesome!! I loved her last concert and wish I could say the same about this one.

    Madonna was a disappointment

    by BBGUN74 on 9/7/12TD Garden - Boston

After waiting over 2 hours for her to appear (show started somewhere around 10:15), I was disappointed to find that the concert was not as energizing as past ones I 've gone to. I have been to two previous Madonna concerts and loved those but was very disappointed this time. The songs started to all blend together and all sounded like a club mix of the same song. Like A Virgin was a slow piano bar rendition which was a shame - it is not the type of song for that. Papa Don't Preach while it is a classic, is not something that you want to here from a 54 year old Madonna. Preferred classics in it's place would have been Cherish, Borderline, Dress You Up.

    Madonna MDNA-awesome show

by Jefle on 9/7/12TD Garden - Boston

The Madonna tout 2012 was a great show both visually and musically. Madonna is the queen. Her 2 hour tardiness to appear is a bit excessive but as a diehard fan who paid a lot for tickets I did not leave. The show quality made up for most of that. Always love she appears in New England on every world tour. Kudos Madge!

    Amazing Yet Truly Disappointing Show

by DisappointedBostonFan on 9/7/12TD Garden - Boston

She looked good, she sounded good, the special effects and staging were spectacular. That said, I did not really enjoy the show. A dramatically mystical/religious ceremony started things off, leading into..... Girl Gone Wild? What a weird segue. Then there was a violent sequence with Madge engaging in fake gunplay while singing "gonna shoot my lover in the head" complete with huge blood spattered visual projections. Who does she think she is, Quentin Tarentino? It was just out of character, even for someone known for constant reinvention. Then there was the TOTAL LACK OF HITS. For instance if you thought you might hear, Borderline, Cherish, Angel, Ray of Light, Frozen, Live to Tell, Used to Be My Playground, Bedtime Story, Material Girl, Lucky Star, True Blue, Into the Groove, Take a Bow, Beautiful Stranger, Music, or American Life, YOU'D BE WRONG! Oh, she did a tinny version of Express Yourself, a bizarre version of Like a Virgin, and finally a decent song, Like a Prayer. Also, a DJ played insipid radio-techno while encouraging people to fist-pump FOR 2 HOURS BEFOR SHE CAME ON STAGE!!!! Esentially we were there at 8:00PM - 12:30AM but she performed for only about 90 - 100 minutes. She's trying to be edgy and relevant but these stunts just come across as desperate.
