Madagascar was fun but too expensive and short

by jkfsdaklfjdskl on 4/26/11Radio City Music Hall - New York

Our family of ten (four children under age five, four parents, and two grandparents) enjoyed the lively music, dance, and costumes, but we all agreed that it was very pricey for the length of the show. We traveled from Pennsylvania and an hour-and-a-half from NYC to see the show, and it was short, short, short. We spent more time in ToysRUS and other surrounding locations than we did at the show.

I read lots of reviews from viewers and I was not impressed. I've seen better and was disappointed with the performance at Radio City on Easter weekend. Alex the Lion kept forgetting his lines there were more than enough instances with dead air. My boyfriend's son enjoyed the end. My boyfriend and I agreed the end was the best part and the most lively. It woke us up from our afternoon nap. Not that I thought I was going to thoroughly enjoy this children's show but I was hoping to be more entertained from other reviews I read.

Would have rather watched the DVD again

by upstatemomof3 on 4/25/11Radio City Music Hall - New York

Characters just repeated word for word from the movie and parts were just cut out to make it shorter. Not much audience interaction till the end. The only reason I gave it 3 stars was because my kids enjoyed it which is the most important part.

    Madagascar better on TV

by theaterfamily on 4/25/11Radio City Music Hall - New York

We are frequent theater goers and our 4 year old daughter loves musicals. We figured this would be a great one to take her to since she loves the Movie Madagascar. Despite the good seats we found this musical to be boring. Please save your money and don't go to this. It looks like a cheap production on a big stage. Radio City Music Hall is a great venue I am still wondering why they would bring such a poorly coordinated production like this one to the stage. The music talent was unimpressive, the dance coordination immature and a bit silly and uninteresting for even little ones. The worse part is, for a musical, the acoustics didn't carry throughout the hall which is probably why the music seemed so subpar for a musical in this price range. I suggest you save your money and skip this show. Unless of course, you want to be bored.

    Not what was expected!

by Tenacious11 on 4/25/11Radio City Music Hall - New York

I got sick and was unable 2 attend but my mother took my daughter. We go 2 shows all the time and my daughter had a great time, mind you she is only 2 years old. My mother on the other hand was not pleased at all. The show was very short and there was not as much singing as we had anticipated!

madagascar live... not great for toddlers

by yeyemaria on 4/25/11Radio City Music Hall - New York

My 3 year old was bored by the second half. They didn't engage with the public much. Would not recommend this for Toddlers.

    Good for kids

by Raquel66 on 4/25/11Radio City Music Hall - New York

I went with my husband and two children (11 and 15 years old). The play was appropiate for kids under 10. It was kind of bored for the price we paid. The show shouldn't cost more than $30 for what we see. I would recommend this show for children, not for adults or teenagers.

The show was not what i thought it would be. If you didn"t see the movie you probably be lost as soon as it started. This show was really a kid show , if you would call it that. I felt it was a low budget show, at times where there should have used people they used painted backgrounds. it seemed that only 8 to 10 actors played all the caracters. The kids seemed not to follow the show instead played with all the lighted toys their parents had bought them. I had a niece that saw the show Friday and said that the show was awful and i would agree. Not worth the money next time I would think twice.

    Animals Alive in NYC

by nurse4 on 4/25/11Radio City Music Hall - New York

The play started off slow but it was a blast at the end. The kids loved it. The interactive audience part at the end was so cool. I would recommend to folks who love to see kids laugh, dance and sing.

    Horrible for adults

by Jemmagirls on 4/25/11Radio City Music Hall - New York

For the amount of money that my family spent, I do not feel that we got our money's worth. The actors' singing was not great at all. It was as if they said, the kids dont know the difference between good and bad singing so lets put anyone up there. They did what I think most are doing when it comes to kids shows. In an attempt to appeal to adults too, they make up these horrible and corny sounding jokes while providing acts that will keep youngsters engaged.

by rohmoh on 4/25/11Radio City Music Hall - New York

terrible, tacky, too much talking, looked like a school production with a bunch of adults in animal costumes. dialogues with lame jokes, no comparison to other fantastic comparable animal themed show
