The hip hop self-starters Macklemore & Ryan have gone far in a short time: they brought thrift stores to the masses with breakout No. 1 single “Thrift Shop,” released their debut album Heist to a No. 2 spot on the Billboard 200, and came out in support of same-sex marriage with gay rights anthem “Same Love.” Combining Macklemore’s thoughtful, funny verses and Lewis’ expertly crafted productions, their unique take on hip hop has struck a major chord with audiences, but what ultimately makes the duo a success has been their ability to write some of the year’s catchiest hooks. As a performer, Macklemore radiates positive energy and delivers his rapid-fire lyrics with crystal clear precision – Lewis takes a supporting role, cueing the beats, hyping the crowd, and engaging in the occasional crowd surf. The pair are on tour in 2013 in support of their debut album, and tickets are in high demand thanks to their reputation for dynamic, must-see live shows.
The Seattle-based duo first joined forces in 2006 when Lewis became Macklemore’s promo photographer, but the focus quickly shifted to music with the release of The VS. series, which included The VS. EP in 2009 and The VS. Redux in 2010. Their 2013 debut The Heist took three years to write and record, and it shows – from the extensive list of collaborators to the appearance of the Seattle Rock Orchestra, the record oozes originality and craftsmanship. In addition to producing, recording, and mixing all of their recordings, Lewis also directs their music videos, including the video for No. 1 single “Can’t Hold Us,” an epic seven-minute-long mini-film that earned them an MTV Video Music Award for Best Hip-Hop Video. As for the music’s point of view, Macklemore isn’t afraid to challenge the status quo of his chosen genre – from questioning the materialism of hip hop culture in “Thrift Shop” to lamenting homophobia among rappers in “Same Love,” these are songs that embrace diversity and endorse keeping an open mind.

Very impressed! High energy and great talent! I'm always worried that an artist will sound different live, but I was not disappointed.
One of the best concerts I have been too! Macklemore is one heck of an entertainer.
First concert for me starting my 2016 concert events with Mackemore & Ryan Lewis and they were amazing!! The energy, the set design, the dancing and of course Macklemore & Ryan Lewis FANTASTIC. I have been following them for awhile and although I'm 50 plus I enjoy good music and early rap. These two did not disappoint! I totally enjoyed their show. They really started my year off right!! Every song was high energy and just plain good showmanship.. The rest of my 2016 concerts better bring it because Maclemore & Ryan Lewis knocked the standards up to almost unreachable. I'm definitely a Hugh fan for life!!
What an amazing show! Would definitely go again.....Macklemore and Ryan Lewis are amazing live!!
Macklemore's performance was amazing! The energy was amazing. Macklemore is a positive influence in the hip hop community and portrays that even more so in his performance. You can tell music and performing is his genuine passion. Two thumbs up for these guys! I'll be sure to see them when they are in town next!
Macklemore relates to the audience. Downtown and Irish Celebration were awesome!!
Great show by Macklemore. Only complaint keeping me from giving five stars would be the sound mixing. The volume was entirely too high for a venue and crowd of this size and the mid-range grew nearly unbearable by about 75% of the way through the show. I had to leave my seat for the final few songs and watch from the venue's concourse (which, fortunately, was open and still gave a reasonable view of the show).
I've been a big fan of Macklemore and Ryan Lewis for a few years and wanted to surprise my brother with tickets to a concert. They definitely did not disappoint! Ryan Lewis is one of my idols so to see him so closely in person was fantastic. Our seats looked far on the pictures of the venue, but we were actually a lot closer! We loved the energy and the performance they gave. We lost it when they played And We Danced, my brother's and mine favorite! Downtown was great, especially with Eric Nally! Great concert all around
I had an unforgettable evening with my daughter and her BFF. Macklemore and Ryan Lewis are incredibly talented and I recommend seeing them live!
I didn't love the venue, the Fox is a beautiful theatre but not great for a super upbeat concert. Macklemore and Ryan were incredible as always. They never disappoint and leave you feeling like you're on top of the world. Definitely one of those concerts that's so good you lose all sense of time. Never expect to be sitting at their concert and be prepared to party.
So let me start by saying the entire concert was full of energy the whole time , the lighting, the sound, the dancers, were all so amazing. The concert started with his open act "Xp" or "Xpierence" as he calls himself and I liked one song of he's , I just think his flow just wasn't as hard as Macklmore though he was a real good friend of Macks. And I'm not being bias or saying that because I love Mack, I give credit where it is due and though he isn't bad he's not that good enough (in my opinion) to be a solo act. Once he was done and made a few comments and was very relatable to the audience MACKLEMORE AND RYAN came on. His outfit wasn't much to look at but, I didn't come for that I came for him and he was amazing though he focused on the middle of the crowd people at the top. I was on the left side of the audience (standing from the stage). I just felt like he could of paid more attention to each of the sides but his energy made up for that. I could barley hear the backup singers because of the backing track was too loud and overpowered their voices. The trumpet players were good , dancers, graphics, and his guest star Eric Nally from Foxy Shazam. I was impressed that Eric sang live from Macklemores song "Downtown" that was pretty amazing and the chemistry they had on stage. Overall I just feel like he could of performed more songs the concert was tad bit to short though it could be that I was having such a good time , that the time just flew by. However he did preform two new songs , one old songs, his current songs and all the popular songs from The Heist like Same Love, Thrift Shop, Ten Thousand Hours, Wings, Can't Hold Us.......I think that's it but I will definitely be attending his next Tour! Can't wait for his new album he is a legend in the making IMO..he doesn't stand for the norm or what's acceptable and that I love ...#SHARKFACEGANG
The concert was absolutely amazing! Macklemore and Ryan Lewis always put on a great show!
A+ showmanship was on point. Great sound too, you could actually hear the vocals which doesn't always happen during a hip-hop show.
I was not a huge fan of Macklemore. I honestly only knew like 2 songs of his. But my sister is a fan. So I bought tickets for her birthday and went with her. It was the best concert I've been too in awhile. I usually go to country concerts. This is the first hip-hop concert I've ever been too. But he was an amazing performer. I will go see him every chance I get from now on!
Best Concert in a long time. Macklemore knows how to perform and bring it as it's who he is. Hes a natural and inspirational. His crew and him just vibe so well on stage as they do on tv. If they come back I will be back!
This is my 2nd Macklemore concert and he did not disappoint! It was an awesome concert!!!! Great performer with great messages. Had so much fun, yet again....will definitely buy tickets for his next show!!! <3
The show was beyond our expectations. They rocked it big time ! I was especially excited when Eric nally came out . We loooovvvvveeee him. He is a god!! We will definitely see them again when the new album comes out!!!!
The entire show was very well choreographed, entertaining, and even, at times, emotional. Not only did Macklemore and Ryan Lewis bring their features for some songs such as Crew Cuts and their latest, Downtown, but they also brought backup singers, instrumentalists/backup dancers, and even a separate team of break dancers. All things aside, though, save the onstage performance of Downtown. If you haven't seen the music video, you should - because they re-enacted it on stage (WITH the featured voice of the hook)! Towards the end of the show, Macklemore even went for a short crowd surf.
I wasn't sure what to expect out of their live show. I really like their music but have seen too many artists who can not rap live. Macklemore is not one of those. He was the best rapper I have ever seen. He sounded amazing and had such a stage presence it was hard to take my eyes off him. He had great interactions with the crowd. I took my 11 and 13 yr old daughters who also loved it. Ryan Lewis was awesome too. I have seen hundreds of concerts and my level of respect for these two guys as true artists just got elevated to a whole new level! I can not wait to see them again.
One of the best concerts Ive been to. High energy and even better in person
