The hip hop self-starters Macklemore & Ryan have gone far in a short time: they brought thrift stores to the masses with breakout No. 1 single “Thrift Shop,” released their debut album Heist to a No. 2 spot on the Billboard 200, and came out in support of same-sex marriage with gay rights anthem “Same Love.” Combining Macklemore’s thoughtful, funny verses and Lewis’ expertly crafted productions, their unique take on hip hop has struck a major chord with audiences, but what ultimately makes the duo a success has been their ability to write some of the year’s catchiest hooks. As a performer, Macklemore radiates positive energy and delivers his rapid-fire lyrics with crystal clear precision – Lewis takes a supporting role, cueing the beats, hyping the crowd, and engaging in the occasional crowd surf. The pair are on tour in 2013 in support of their debut album, and tickets are in high demand thanks to their reputation for dynamic, must-see live shows.
The Seattle-based duo first joined forces in 2006 when Lewis became Macklemore’s promo photographer, but the focus quickly shifted to music with the release of The VS. series, which included The VS. EP in 2009 and The VS. Redux in 2010. Their 2013 debut The Heist took three years to write and record, and it shows – from the extensive list of collaborators to the appearance of the Seattle Rock Orchestra, the record oozes originality and craftsmanship. In addition to producing, recording, and mixing all of their recordings, Lewis also directs their music videos, including the video for No. 1 single “Can’t Hold Us,” an epic seven-minute-long mini-film that earned them an MTV Video Music Award for Best Hip-Hop Video. As for the music’s point of view, Macklemore isn’t afraid to challenge the status quo of his chosen genre – from questioning the materialism of hip hop culture in “Thrift Shop” to lamenting homophobia among rappers in “Same Love,” these are songs that embrace diversity and endorse keeping an open mind.

First time seeing Macklemore and Ryan Lewis in concert and they put on an amazing show! Definitely recommend, can't wait to see them again!
Great concert! Opening acts were mediocre at best. Macklemore was awesome!
Top 5 shows I've been to. We had such a great Time.
From beginning to end, it was a concert all night long. Macklemore's commentary was funny and witty as he introduced each song. I didn't care for both of this opening acts which went too long in my opinion. I don't recall the names of the opening acts but I can appreciate that M&RL gave them a shot because apparently, they have been longtime friends from Seattle. Macklemore can deliver live which is difficult for a rapper but he manages to do so easily. Their band is super talented as well, my favorite is the trumpet player!
Had a great time at the show! The floor view was great, would definitely purchase these again.
From the opening song "Light Tunnels", to the finale "Downtown", Macklemore a & Ryan Lewis presented what Hip-Hop can be when you take corporate interest out of the artistry. The genuine humility that Macklemore expressed was evident throughout the show, and I left feeling like I got my money's worth. I'm a fan for life!
Macklemore is simply pure energy exploding on the stage...one of the most impressive shows I've ever seen!
Fantastic show. 10 out of 10 would go again. Forever one of my favorite artists.
I attended the Macklemore & Ryan Lewis concert Saturday, May 28. It was the greatest. They are two great entertainers. Their lyrics, light show and performance was outstanding. They are both always making sure that their crowd is having a good time. Macklemore gives you the feeling that you are watching a friend perform.
One of the best shows I've seen in a long time. Pleasantly surprised.
Awesome. Engaging, entertaining, different (in a good way), funny, cool.
Macklemore and Lewis really got the place rocking, it was just amazing!
Probably the best concert I have gone to in years! I am still smiling, it was a party from start to finish with everyone dancing and singing along....
BEST CONCERT EVER. Hands down, best intros, very personable, extremely entertaining and just a great time.
Macklemore and Ryan Lewis put on the most amazing show I have seen in years! They brought every ounce of energy in their being to the stage and wasted themselves singing their hearts out and connecting to the incredibly appreciative crowd the entire night. We sat outside for 10hrs before the show - to get that kind of payoff, I would do it every day of the week!! Thank you MRL:)
The venue was packed, both openers were great and Macklemore and Ryan Lewis put on a n absolutely amazing show. I've seen them twice (same venue) and somehow their show only got better.
They exceeded my expectations, it was a great show, it was fun & full of energy, everyone dances while hey perform..
Best show I've been to in a long time. Mack knows how to pace his shows and really get the energy up. Great production, great music, he went pretty deep into his catalog of songs. Great night overall! P.S. opening sets are pretty good too
