by Domster13 on 9/19/09Ironstone Amphitheatre at Ironstone Vineyards - Murphys

The whole show was awesome. For how old they are they have not slowed down a bit from the 70's. Very impressed. They rocked hard played some of their new material from the 2000's and kept the crowd rockin ALL night.

    Lynyrd Skynyrd

by Hoek on 9/19/09Ironstone Amphitheatre at Ironstone Vineyards - Murphys

Skynyrd should have kept Los Lonely Boys' sound equiptment on stage, because Skynyrnds' speakers were shot and couldn't handle the volume. It was soo unbearable that I left after 4 songs. I wish I could get my money back !!!

Lynyrd Skynyrd & Los Lonely Boys were awesome!

by ediejw on 9/19/09Ironstone Amphitheatre at Ironstone Vineyards - Murphys

To start, Los Lonely Boys was fantastic. They have great energy and really seem to have a good time on stage. Their guitar playing was incredible as well! Of course the main reason to go was Lynyrd Skynyrd. I had seen them in the 70's and decided to relive those years. They were awesome! The music was classic as expected, but they really know how to interact with the audience. The venue was great and the weather was incredible. The only complaint was that I paid for a seat. I would have picked the grass area over the seats anyday had I have known. Very uncomfortable, too small, too tight. Luckily Skynyrd had us up on our feet most of the time. It was a great concert with two great groups.

    Sound sucked!

by DDDF on 9/19/09Ironstone Amphitheatre at Ironstone Vineyards - Murphys

Couldn't hear the guitars over the bass. We walked around to different areas of the venue trying to see if we were just in a pocket of poor sound, but it was consistent throughout the venue AND the evening...even when playing recorded music. The only thing that help a bit was to stand up instead of sit low in order to lose the excessive bass. Van Zant's voice was gravelly. In his defense, he worked hard to get the crowd engaged, but it more distracting than helpful. I attended this event two years ago at this venue, and it was much better. The new keyboardist was terrific!

    Crowd Rocks To Lynyrd Skynyrd

by TheTycoMan on 9/19/09Ironstone Amphitheatre at Ironstone Vineyards - Murphys

Under a star lite night at Iron Stone Vinyards, the fans of both the Los Lonely Boys and Lynyrd Skynyrd saw a memorable show. The vinue was clean and packed with friendly people having good conversation and drink. The show opened with the Los Lonely Boys showing just what they came to Murphy's to do. Play outstanding music ! The three band members left a memorable impression of their skills with crowd. Hats off to the first time I saw this group. You guys rocked the house with your three man band. Lynyrd Skynyrd started out the night showing why they have been a rock Iegend for so long. The band came of the gates hard and loud. The band seemed to be louder then the lead singer at times, but the crowd seemed to know the words and sung along. It seemed to this first time Skynyrd concert goer, that the lead singer was not into the show by his facial expressions and timming. The vinue was in "Murphy's" but it was easyer to say whats up California. The band closed the show with their all time classic Free Bird. I was impressed overall and so was the crowd.

I'm a fan of Lynyrd Skynyrd and to see them play on stage is something I will not forget. This was one of my favorite concerts that I've been to and I've seen ZZ Top, Hank Williams Jr, KISS, and Areosmith.

    Skynyrd Still Rocks!

by hardtail77 on 9/16/09Los Angeles County Fair - Pomona

From the opening with Skynyrd Nation to the encore with Freebird, it's evident that this group has not missed a beat. I last saw them in '76 at Anaheim Stadium, when I was 17. The guitar licks were classic Skynyrd, and guitarist Ricky Medlocke rocked the house. Gary Rossington was impeccable, Van Zant's lyrics were spot on, and their drummer was big time. I'd like to see them again. Their latest piece from God and Guns "Still Unbroken" is what real Rock and Roll is all about.

by Klantucky on 9/15/09Los Angeles County Fair - Pomona

I was standing in line for a t-shirt when the bands busses drove up. The band members were all standing in the front windows waving and looking like they were very happy to be there entertaining. Thanks guys. The sound system was playing ac/dc its a long way to the top and if anybody has gone a long way its Lynyrd Skynyrd. They got off the busses and a minute later Southern Rock Heaven.

    Lynyrd Skynrd Rocks

by DW55 on 9/14/09Los Angeles County Fair - Pomona

For a bunch of 'old guys' (like me), they had SOOO much energy. They played all their big hits, and one new one from their upcoming CD. Low point: a mid-set medley of non-hits. High point: Free Bird guitar solo duplicates the ones by Ronnie Van Zant and Steve Gaines. High energy from keyboards and drums too. Two Southern Belles sang doo-wop on Stage Right. All-in-all, highly professional and tight set. Even my kids (3 teens) loved it. REALLY LOUD!!!

    Skynyrd Still Unbroken!

by barrychw on 9/14/09Los Angeles County Fair - Pomona

This is the 10th Skynyrd show I've been to, beginning with the first time they played in California in 1973 or 4, when Sweet Home Alabama was a brand new song. Despite the tragic loss of keyboardist Billy Powell and bassist Ean Evans earlier this year, the band continues to persevere through tragedy! When I saw them in 2000 at the Universal Ampitheater, shortly after the passing of bassist Leon Wilkeson, "the Father of Southern Rock" Lacey Van Zant introduced them as "the toughest rock & roll band in the world". I have to agree- no other band has ever survived anywhere near the tragedy that Lynyrd Skynyrd has. Gary Rossington, Johnny Van Zant, Ricky Medlocke, Michael Cartelone, and the three newer members rocked the house with as much high-powered energy as ever! And you gotta love the "angels" (back-up singers Dale Krantz Rossington and Carol Chase)! I truly believe Rossington and company wouldn't settle for anything less than greatness, in honor of those band members who have so tragically passed on. They were all remembered on video screens while the band played. If you haven't seen Skynyrd- you should see them while you still have a chance to! As the title of their new song says- this is a band that is "still unbroken!"
