Lucky Daye on Tour

Off the heels of his hit album Candydrip, New Orleans singer/songwriter Lucky Daye is hitting the road across the United States for the 2022 Candydrip Tour. Daye's style blurs the lines between contemporary sub-genres within R&B with hints of soul and funk and influences from genre giants like Miss Lauryn Hill, Prince and Stevie Wonder. In 2019, Lucky Daye released his debut 13-track studio album titled Painted which garnered critical praise, leading to four Grammy nominations at the 63rd Grammy Awards including Best R&B Performance, Best Traditional R&B Performance, Best R&B Song and Best R&B Album. As a result of the positive momentum, Lucky Daye opened for Khalid on his Free Spirit Tour in Australia and New Zealand. Daye is praised by concertgoers for his intimate stage presence, putting his heart and soul into live performances.

Lucky Daye in Concert

Born on September 25, 1985, David Debrandon Brown is originally from New Orleans, Louisiana and you can feel the southern, soulful influence in his records. Despite navigatings a series of tumultuous events in his youth like being raised in a local cult that forbade conventional music and being displaced by Hurricane Katrina, Daye re-established himself in Atlanta, Georgia where he now resides. His first peek into the spotlight came in 2005, when he competed in Season 4 of "American Idol". He received unanimous praise from the four judges and Randy Jackson called it the best performance he had heard "since we have been doing this for four seasons." Shortly after being eliminated from American Idol, Daye's career evolved into both a songwriter and supporting vocalist over the next 10 years. He received credits with hit artists like Ne-Yo, Boyz II Men, Trey Songz and Mary J. Blige. Daye's solo career blossomed in October 2018 when he signed to Keep Cool and RCA Records. Shortly thereafter, he released his first single, the Grammy-nominated "Roll Some Mo." That and "Real Games" were the leading singles on Painted (2020). He followed that up with the Grammy-nominated EP Two of a Kind (2021), which features an intro and six duets with the likes of Ari Lennox and Yebba. Candydrip released in March of 2022 and features guest appearances from Smino and Lil Durk.

    Horrible!!

by Chris on 6/21/22713 Music Hall - Houston

From the start of the concert it was a TOTAL DISASTER!!! I don't know if it waw the venue or the promoters fault. Because the mics keep going out. The concert was supposed to start at 8:30 & the moment the host hit the stage,Chrisette Michele & Wale. I waited until 1:30 A.M to watch Lucky Daye to perform. He came on stage to apologize and i left after that. I didn't get a chance to see him perform. DISAPPOINTED is the least of my choice words to use.

    Wiggity Wack

by Suss on 6/21/22713 Music Hall - Houston

I am not certain who or what organization dropped the ball but I feel a partial refund is necessary. Lucky Daye never performed, which is the only reason why I purchased the tickets. I drove 3 hours to see this show. The sound engineering was HORRIBLE the entire 4+ hours of each artist's performance including the DJ set. The sound and mics would drop out or go from high to low in terms of the decibel level. There was a period of at least 30 minutes after Wale's set that it was dead silence (no music/DJ). It was FREEZING COLD for hours. The bartenders did not work with a quickness, lines were slow to serve drinks. The only positive is the venue itself, very nice place!

Lucky Daye headliner Wale, Chrisette Michelle

by Julia on 6/21/22713 Music Hall - Houston

The show was horrible and unprofessional. If it was a way to get my money back I would! I got these tickets as a Father’s Day gift to my husband we we're both disappointed. From the technical difficulties, to us being there until after 1am and the concert started at 8:30😳, not to mention we didn’t even see the headliner Lucky Daye! They kept stringing us along putting other acts on the stage to stall for Lucky Daye to come. We couldn’t take it no more after Wale performed we were too tired we left. I’ve never experienced a concert this bad before. If I could give zero stars as a rating I would.

    not a good experience

by TA on 6/21/22713 Music Hall - Houston

Hello unfortunately the venue had sound issues all night the other artists I enjoyed. Lucky daye the main act wasn't able to perform. The venue 713 music hall cut off all sound, they did not provide Lucky Daye with a microphone to even tell the audience that he couldn't perform. He tried to tell us he couldn't perform but we couldn't hear him. We waited until 1:15 am. Very disappointed with the venue I would like my money back

    Disappointed

by Nelle on 6/21/22713 Music Hall - Houston

This had to be the most unprofessional and unorganized show that I have ever attended. The show started at 8:30. I did not leave until nearly 2am, due to constant interruptions of the show by "technical difficulties". We didn't even get to see the headliner (Lucky Daye) perform at all! It was also unprofessional that they let us sit there in anticipation of Lucky Daye performing without giving us an update until 2am. I am looking for an email or some sort of communication on what it going to be done about this situation, as we didn't even get to see the headliner perform at all!

    Sound check sucked

by No. 1 Lucky Daye fan on 6/21/22713 Music Hall - Houston

Unfortunately Lucky didn’t get to perform due to poor sound issues. The sound tech screwed all the artists. Once the smoke detector went off that ruined the rest of the show; the last act which was Lucky Daye. Overall Shaun Martin and the GoGo band, wale and Chrisette Michelle were all awesome but they experienced sound issues too.

    Very Disappointing

by Kiersten on 6/21/22713 Music Hall - Houston

The sound kept going out during the performances. Christmette Michelle had to wait on mics and by the time they let Lucky Daye on stage no mics were working at all and the venue had reached curfew so we never actually got to see the headliner perform. Artists were great but those over sound and production were terrible.

    Worst concert I’ve ever attended

by RDH on 6/21/22713 Music Hall - Houston

The show was full of mishap’s and delays. The show started at 8:30 p.m. C.S.T. & and long story short Wale didn’t hit the stage until after midnight. After his set Lucky Daye was supposed to close the show. As the remaining crowd waited, the organizers finally decided to inform us around 1:30 a.m. that Lucky Daye would not be performing. No to mention they tried to squeeze in a couple on local artists Into the show that was already unorganized and behind schedule.

    Mediocre

by Yo on 6/21/22713 Music Hall - Houston

I’m really sad this didn’t go as well as I wanted! I love these artists and was so excited to see them perform but 713 Music Hall was not up to the task. The audio was inconsistent and the sound quality wasn’t great either. There were so many delays that Lucky Daye didn’t even have a chance to perform. I would love to see these artists in Houston again soon but at a different venue.

    The ambiance was great, BUT...

by V Pitcher on 6/21/22713 Music Hall - Houston

The sound system continuously failed, the unexpected acts prolonged the night, I didn't get to see theain acts due to the prolonged time and bad sound setup. I enjoyed the ambiance, and the one act I did get to see in spite of all the mishaps.

    Worst show ever

by Mic on 6/21/22713 Music Hall - Houston

The sound was horrible. Everything would drop out periodically during the performances. There were 3 additional acts (that no one knew) that performed for an extended amounts of time. Christened Michele and Wale seemed to be going through the motions. And the headliner Lucky Daye never performed. The act I wanted to see never even spoke to the crowd. His band had to announce that he was unavailable to perform for various reasons (he had a long day, the sound wasn’t right, had to contact the promoter). It was highly unprofessional and one of the biggest disappointing concerts I have EVER attended. I truly hope they refund everyone’s money.

    No Lucky Daye

by Tay on 6/21/22713 Music Hall - Houston

The whole event could have been better honestly. They had trouble with sound and timing. Lucky Daye didn’t even perform and I’m very disappointed.

    Candy drip tour, NYC

    by T. C. on 5/3/22

This man sounds exactly how he sounds on his albums. If you haven’t seen him live, then don’t walk but RUN for tickets if he’ll be performing in your area. My spirit was at peace whilst listening to him sing and play the guitar. Stream Candy drip & Painted 💜🍀
