LUCIUS IN CONCERT:

Girl group powerhouse Lucius put a fresh spin on Motown and soul music with their 2013 debut album Wildewoman, combining '60s influences with a modern indie pop sound. Whether Holly Laessig and Jess Wolfe are lending their jaw-dropping vocals to "Don't Just Sit There" or swaying back and forth in their matching mod frocks and intricate updos, the fierce duo packs a serious punch. With pitch-perfect vocals and harmonies, Lucius deliver pure pop bliss both on their recordings and on stage. Back on tour the stylish and effervescent collective will treat fans to their retro pop confections as they share the bill with The Head and the Heart and Sara Bareilles among a string of headlining dates of their own.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig met in 2004 while studying at Boston's Berklee School of Music. After penning lyrics and performing together under the moniker Lucius for a number of years, they turned into a five-piece, collaborating under a "musical open door policy" according to Wolfe and honing their craft to perfection. The group’s smashing debut Wildewoman earned major praise from fans and critics alike with its well-blended harmonies and funky soul sound. Hot off the heels of tours with Wilco and City and Colour, Lucius are set for a number of shows alongside fierce female Sara Bareilles and folk outfit The Head and the Heart.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Lucius is one of the most amazing bands that I have seen live. The performance was great, the lights were great, and the songs were amazing. They are very lively and do interact with the crowd. Definitely worth way more than I paid for the tickets."

"Their performance was truly phenomenal and good for the soul!"

    Lucius was incredible!

    by Meredith76 on 3/27/18Carolina Theatre - Durham

This is my second time seeing Lucius (first acoustically). They were absolutely incredible and a band that I suggest everyone should see at least once. The band is uniquely original, but remind me of what it must have been like to see Bowie in his early days. Lucius is a band full of talent and possess such a wonderful flair for performance. Never have I seen more gracious and appreciative artists as well.

Lucius show was so special and wonderful!

by Stillfindingnewmusic on 3/25/18Town Hall - New York

My third time seeing Lucius in concert and not disappointed! I found them by listening to my favorite radio station, WFUV, a few years back. Fun, sweet, and special voices with great musicians to back them!

    Perfect Harmony

by Artbreadman on 3/19/18State Theatre - Portland

I’ve seen Lucius six times. This was the first fully acoustic show. As the years have gone by, Jess and Holly have managed to get their voices to blend so seamlessly it sometimes seems as if only one person is singing. I did miss the usual part of the show where the ladies go into the audience and sing a song or two but this venue didn’t allow for it.

    Lucius is Always On Point

    by Autumn6280 on 3/19/18State Theatre - Portland

This was my 5th time seeing Lucius perform and they were nothing short of amazing...as always. Their voices are always impeccable and blend so magically together that I still find myself trying to figure out from who which voice is coming from. They are an absolute must see live!

Lucious sounded better live than they do on recordings!!! The band was incredibly energetic, harmonies were ON POINT, vocals were strong and flawless, and all the instruments blended into a cohesive masterpiece. Will definitely see again if possible!!

by ilovelucius on 4/3/16Music Hall of Williamsburg - Brooklyn

This band is incredible. Holly and Jess have voices that are just too perfect together to be believed. The entire band is so tight with the music and the energy at live shows is infectious. Lucius is a MUST SEE. Not to mention, Music Hall is a great, intimate venue.

    Lots of Talent on Display

by WhinyMcGee on 4/1/16Royale Boston - Boston

Visually intriguing, their music is all over the place from soul (the vocals reminded me of Annie Lennox at one point) to more avant-garde instruments. I have to admit that they can be a bit shrill, but that's probably because I'm a cranky old man. The kids seemed to be mooning over them, though, so good for them.

Simply the best band to see live

by VaJayJayLeno on 5/1/15Music Hall of Williamsburg - Brooklyn

This was the third Lucius concert I've attended and they continue to deliver. Every single song was amazing. I happened to be in the middle of the crowd so when they performed their customary encore in the middle of the fans I had a front row seat. Truly unforgettable. I'm still buzzing about it. Also my second show at Music Hall of Williamsburg. The venue was great. Intimate without feeling overstuffed. Thanks Steve Madden for the free tix!

Best show I've been to this year!!!

    by danafl83 on 12/9/14Terminal 5 - New York

I've been to about 30 shows this year and seen many band, big and small, and I have to say - this show surpassed them all!!! Not only are these ladies great musicians, the show itself felt so special and was very memorable. Highlights: These ladies not only rocked the house, but they gave such an interactive performance! First, they crowd-surfed all the way from beginning to end, all awhile singing in harmony and keeping their cool (I would be scared put of my mind!). Secondly, for the encore, they put a mic in the middle of the crowd (which is exactly where I was standing!) and did 3 more songs accousticly with their band, which was by far the most special, intimate experience I've ever had at a concert. We high-fived them by the end of it - it was awesome!!! I was so pumped by the end of it, I was ready to do the whole thing again!!! Oh and Bahamas and Elephant opened for them, which was so great in itself (especially Bahamas!!) I wish I could go to another show of theirs again but I guess I'll have to wait a while before they're back on the road again!
