  • An amazing performance!

by ValerieB on 12/29/24Rating: 5 out of 5

The choreography, the orchestra, the beautiful dancers were all perfection. Every scene was mesmerizing but the second act was so perfect. I can’t wait to see it again next year!!

I was at the first Sunday performance and I loved the energy of the entire cast. The dancers were in complete sync with the orchestra and it was very emotional and heart-felt. Bravo and congratulations! It was outstanding and very professional!

  • Enchanting!

by Becca Sue on 12/27/24Rating: 5 out of 5

My family loves the Nutcracker and Loyce’s is so very special. The choreography is lovely and I’m so impressed every year at the young talent on the stage. The costumes and set are the perfect complements to the dazzling performances. Magical merry memories made!

  • Magical Holiday Tradition

by SusieGigi on 12/27/24Rating: 5 out of 5

Loyce Houlton’s Nutcracker Fantasy at The State Theater is always a treat, and this year’s performance was absolutely mesmerizing! The audience was spellbound by the artistic creativity, the quality of dancing, staging and costumes, and, of course, the incredible score performed by The Nutcracker Orchestra! Absolutely kicked off our family’s Holiday celebrations!!

  • Not quite up to Par

by Moxiemom on 12/25/24State Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 4 out of 5

This nutcracker has always been my favorite, for the quality of the dancing, the way the story is told, and the beautiful settings. This year’s performance wasn’t quite up to par though. For some reason, many of the fantasy settings were gone, and since many of the dances were performed on a bare stage, it seemed more like a recital than a cohesive fantasy. This made it less interesting to non-dancer children too. I’m not sure the quality of the dancing was quite as good either , maybe because they tried to use as many different performers as they could. Of course the live performance by the Phillip Brunelle-led orchestra is always wonderful. Even so, next year I think I’ll try a different Nutcracker.
