Randy Jackson voice is outstanding. Great backup bank and the LPO was having some fun! This is a "can't" miss show!

  • LPO-Zeppelin

by Tink59 on 6/12/12Mahalia Jackson Theater for the Performing Arts - New OrleansRating: 5 out of 5

Totally enjoyed my experience. Brought back some great memories seeing Zeppelin in the 70's. Hopefully I can attend more of these concerts in the near future. Would highly recommend it to anyone who is a Zeppelin fan. Hope it comes back around really soon, I'll be there!!!!

  • Great show

by StingIng on 1/11/12Mahalia Jackson Theater for the Performing Arts - New OrleansRating: 4 out of 5

Singer looked a lot like and sounded & acted JUST like Paul McCartney. It was a nice, clean show. The sound system for the orchestra wasn't working properly and that was quite unfortunate since that's half the reason I bought tickets. I'd still recommend it because it was an all around good show.

  • LPO + McCartney = Dynamic!

by TessToob on 1/11/12Mahalia Jackson Theater for the Performing Arts - New OrleansRating: 4 out of 5

Overall a great evening. Didn't know a Beatles cover band would be there, but they did a good job. Worth noting is the gross underuse of the fantastically talented LPO orchestra in most pieces. When not playing, many LPO musicians sat & stood with their arms folded, looking like they couldn't wait to get out of there. However this did not reduce the enjoyment much. I guess it would compare it to ordering a filet mignon with fresh crab meat topping and then wiping off the crab meat - just a shameful waste. The theater is perfect and every seat is excellent. The seats were really comfortable too. You can also bring beverages that you purchase there to your seats! A nice plus. I laughed, cried, got goose bumps and enjoyed the whole experience. There's a Led Zeppelin+LPO show at the MJ Theatre in May that I will probably also attend.

  • LPO "Live and Let Die"

by CindiQ on 1/9/12Mahalia Jackson Theater for the Performing Arts - New OrleansRating: 4 out of 5

The LPO sounded super. The blend of their sounds was perfect. I did find the backup vocals alittle to loud or not blending, but they did sound good overall. The song choices was great and the audience participation was a great idea. I would definetly recommend anyone to go and hear them perform. It brought back so many memories.

  • Not really what we expected

by Anonymous on 1/9/12Mahalia Jackson Theater for the Performing Arts - New OrleansRating: 4 out of 5

We expected this to showcase the orchestra when in fact it seemed to be a concert of Beatle wannabes. There seemed to be some problems with their audio system which didn't help.

  • Poorly advertised show

by Pvw2800 on 1/9/12Mahalia Jackson Theater for the Performing Arts - New OrleansRating: 2 out of 5

My husband and I went to the Live and Let DIe Show expected to hear the LPO play the music of Paul McCartney and Wings. We were not expecting the Beatles at all. The orchestra played very little of the time and could hardly be heard over the beating of the drums. It was obvious that they were having problems with the sound. I think it was a good thing we sat close, because all we could hear were the sownstage monitors. No sound was coming from the speakers hanging from the ceiling. It appeared that none of the music had been scored for the orchestra to play. Evidently this was some road show that just happened to hook up with LPO.

Great show - despite the lead singer's front-stage microphone not being heard as well as the microphone at the piano. Great audience participation. All - around good show !

  • live & let die was to die for!

  • Live and Let Die

by dutchtown on 1/8/12Mahalia Jackson Theater for the Performing Arts - New OrleansRating: 5 out of 5

It was great. The songs sounded like the original recordings. I would love for the philharmonic orchestra to have similar concerts based on the music of 60s artist. you could do various artist with songs that have strings, and/or horns. You could do a group of artists, i.e., Motown Artist, Elton John, etc. I do not attend LPO Concerts, but I would attend the concerts I described above.

  • Technical Disaster

by TeachS on 1/8/12Mahalia Jackson Theater for the Performing Arts - New OrleansRating: 1 out of 5

I was ready to walk out at the end of the first half of the performance. Had I not purchased the tickets as a Christmas present for my companion, I would have put myself out of my misery. The sound/technical equipment was repaired for the second half, but the performance itself was a huge disappointment. I don't know how this group sold itself as being up to the task of representing arguably the greatest performers and music in history or to work along with the Louisiana Symphony. It was purely the enthusiasm of the crowd for the music of the Beatles and the music itself that, in spite of it all, brought a standing ovation. I hope that if this is attempted again, the choice of bands is a better one.

  • Live and Let Die

by BeetleBailey on 1/8/12Mahalia Jackson Theater for the Performing Arts - New OrleansRating: 3 out of 5

First set was extremely short and when the concert ended there was only one encore but they kept coming out for applause to boost their egos. The Philharmonic was wonderful and should have played more like a prelude or postlude of Beatles music.

  • Live and Let Die

The LPO was fantastic and the group with them for Paul McCartny was awesome -- almost made you beliive he was the real McCoy

  • So much fun

by PepperPatty on 1/8/12Mahalia Jackson Theater for the Performing Arts - New OrleansRating: 5 out of 5

This show was lots of fun. The cast was amazingly accurate and the song selections were great! We really enjoyed the orchestra contributions as well. I would have liked to hear just some instrumental performances by the orchestra in addition to the choral ones. Overall a really good time!

  • Live and Let Die

by bbayer on 1/8/12Mahalia Jackson Theater for the Performing Arts - New OrleansRating: 4 out of 5

First half was so disappointing; vocal could not be heard and the whole thing was total effort and strain to try to hear. However, after intermission someone fixed the sound and the rest of the show was just grand. Great mix of music, great vocals. Too bad it took 45 minutes to figure it out!

  • Live & Let Die with the LPO was great!

by NOLAmimi on 1/8/12Mahalia Jackson Theater for the Performing Arts - New OrleansRating: 4 out of 5

Having the LPO in the background added dimension to the music. Brought us back in time and was fun to sing along.

Fabulous time. Music was fantastic and the audience really got into it. There was great back and forth with the musicians and audience. The orchestra was great. I would highly recommend it!
