About

Two-time Emmy award winner Louie Anderson is one of the country's most recognized and adored comics and was named by Comedy Central as "One of 100 Greatest Stand-Up Comedians of All Time."

Currently he is headlining in his own show, "Louie-Larger Than Life" at the Excalibur Hotel & Casino on the famed Las Vegas Strip.

Anderson began his career at a comedy club in his native Minneapolis, when on a dare from friends; he got up on stage and performed.

His big break came in 1984 when he appeared on "The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson" who was so impressed with the comic; he called him out for a rare and coveted "second bow."

Anderson's stand-up comedy career skyrocketed. Known as a "clean" comedian, his stories about growing up in the Midwest, being one of 11 children and dealing with an alcoholic father provided endless material for the comic with audiences of all types relating to his
everyday life experiences.

The multi-talented performer went on to do television and movies starring in his own CBS sitcom "The Louie Show" and his own comedy specials for both HBO and Showtime.

Anderson also has guest starred on such popular sitcoms as "Scrubs" and "Grace Under Fire," dramas like "Touched by an Angel" and "Chicago Hope." He also has appeared in memorable featured roles in such films as "Coming to America" opposite Eddie Murphy.

The multi-talented comedian/actor's resume also includes the syndicated hit series, "Family Feud" and being executive producer and creator of the two-time Emmy Award winning animated series on FOX "Life With Louie."

Anderson is also a best selling author and has written three books including the best selling first book Dear Dad-Letters From An Adult Child in 1989.

Anderson, a humanitarian, is co-founder of the H.E.R.O. organization whose mission is to empower people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness to attain maximum self-sufficiency.

He also spends many hours working with numerous other charities in keeping with his philosophy of giving back to his community whenever he can.

  • Louie is the Best!

We've been to this New Years Eve show before and it is so fun each time. Louie is such a classic and a man with a huge heart.

  • Happy New Year, Louie

I have seen Louie many times in the past, but not since 2007, so I didn't know what to expect. Louie hasn't lost a beat. He is as hilarious and down to earth as always and I am so glad we decided to spend part of our holiday with Louie and his family.

We had a group of 9 there and couldn't stop laughing! He engaged the crowd which made it a great experience.

  • Classic MN comedy.

by GManMSP on 1/3/17Ames Center - BurnsvilleRating: 4 out of 5

Louie's comedy is classic Minnesota. If you are from here, you will enjoy it. If you are not from here, or only recently moved here, you may not find it that funny. It was great that his family was in the audience and he called out to them periodically. His improvised audience interaction toward the end was funny, but ended up going on a bit long. The two opening acts were both quite good. My only complaint was about the Ames Center itself. They had the heat cranked and it got uncomfortably hot during the last half of the performance. People were fanning themselves. We were just ready for it to be over so that we could get out into the cool. If you are in charge of the venue, remember that people dress for the cold in MN, don't make them suffer when they come to a show in your facility. Seats are also uncomfortably close for anyone over 6 foot.

I think it will be a new, NYE tradition for my mom and I! Clever, clean, sweet humor!

Louie is just like all of us. He makes us laugh at the dumb things we all do through his experiences in his life.

A standup comedian at the top of their game is an under appreciated art.

  • Louie Anderson show was fantastic!

by SDSusan on 8/9/16South Point Showroom at South Point Hotel Casino and Spa - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

We couldn't have asked for a better way to end a ten day trip to our great national parks in Utah - stopped for the last night of our trip in Vegas to see Louie Anderson at the SouthPoint Casino. Great venue, with the best value for seating. We were in the front row and the warmup acts were funny, but Louie really rocked it. We see a lot of comedy shows, and this was one of the best since Louie is so relatable in his comedy, talking about family quirks and everyday funny stuff. I'm partial to Louie since I love the new show Baskets, but I'd go see him again I enjoyed it so much.

  • Hilarious!

The show was fantastic. All 3 comics had different and unique material. We thoroughly enjoyed the evening with lots of laughs!

  • Still Has It

by BobbyRob on 6/28/16The Wilbur - BostonRating: 4 out of 5

Louie Anderson is just naturally witty and hilarious. He was as funny as ever and seemed to do it without a script. My cheeks were sore afterwards, enough said,

  • Louie Anderson was sad

    by MomChris on 3/18/16Potawatomi Hotel & Casino/Northern Lights Theater/Event Center - MilwaukeeRating: 2 out of 5

My husband and I looked forward to a nice evening with my sister and her husband. We talked up Louie Anderson to them and hoped we would leave the theater with our sides hurting from laughter. Unfortunately, we walked out of the theater feeling sad. Louie obviously is not in good health and most of his jokes were about being overweight and liking food. It was depressing. Louie seems to be a very nice man and I hope he is able to take better care of himself and enjoy life.

Louie Anderson was great. He is soooo funny, and without the need to use any curse words.

  • Still a funny guy

    by JohnP8 on 1/12/16The Canyon - Agoura HillsRating: 4 out of 5

It was funny and Louie still has it with delivery. But a bit sad; Louie isn't comfortable at all. He's obese and that gives him some material, but I felt more sorry for him than enjoying that material.

  • Very Enjoyable Evening

    by trew2 on 1/12/16The Canyon - Agoura HillsRating: 5 out of 5

From the moment the show started until the last minute, Louie entertained.

  • What a treat.

    by verb1999 on 1/7/16Ames Center - BurnsvilleRating: 5 out of 5

Such a fun night, provided by Louie Anderson. A brilliant blend of an old school comedy material with a modern day twist. And on a special day no less: New Years Eve. It's been a long tradition of Louie's to do an annual New Years Eve show in his home state of Minnesota. Being a part of it on the last day of 2015 only makes me wish I'd gone to more of them in the past. I really hate to post this publicly, but I do hope he takes care of himself physically (even though half his material is making fun of his own weight). I hope he sticks around for a long time so I am able to see him again. Very solid openers, as well.

  • It's the same thing!!!

by nottbobs on 1/4/16Ames Center - BurnsvilleRating: 5 out of 5

My husband, daughter and I went to see Louie. We had been to see him once in Las Vegas and another New Year's Eve a few years ago. We were hysterically laughing. My husband had tears running down his face and said he had a headache from laughing so hard. He is one of a kind. We will definitely be going again!!!

  • My sides hurt

Fantastic as usual! Even the opening acts were good.
