    LOS LOBOS ROCKS

by GTPLYRD28 on 9/28/09HP Pavilion At San Jose - San Jose

Los Lobos is always an amazing band to experience live. They are truly the most talented musicians working today. I think the fans who have followed their career over the years and have had the privilege of seeing them perform live realize what an amazing band they are. Every time I see Los Lobos I am always blown away at their musicianship, their voices and how they navigate through different genre's and styles of music. Their versatility showcases their talent and what fanatstic musicians they are.My only complaint about this concert is how it was billed with the thought that Santana was also perfoming as a solo act. He was basically "showcased" as a guest with Los Lobos. I purchased these tickets because I was taking my niece to see Santana perform..not as a guest of another band however, it was billed as Santana..which eludes to the fact of The Band Santana..not Carlos Santana ..guest of Los Lobos.

    Mariachi concert was great!

by Mariachifan on 9/28/09HP Pavilion At San Jose - San Jose

Really enjoyed Mariachi Corbres, but would have liked to have seen more of old film stars singing complete songs. Seeing Perdro Infante, etc. singing would have really made the whole concert experience unforgetable.

    BEST CONCERT OF THE YEAR!!!

by latineyes on 9/28/09HP Pavilion At San Jose - San Jose

Last night was off the charts Mexican Magic at its best. All the bands performed their hearts out and my friends and I loved every minute. From the begining with Little Joe signing his classic old school hits to the amazing guitar playing of Los Lobos. Los Lobos took the evening to a new level of musical magic. They pour their hearts into their singing and playing and we were swept off our seats and on to our feet, dancing to their heated latin rhythems. When Carlos Santana joined them on stage, the music went through the roof. This was the highlight of the evening and we were taken to heavens. These masters of latin rock gave us a show to remember for a life time.

    Great Concert

by LizDLC on 9/28/09HP Pavilion At San Jose - San Jose

The show was fabulous! I almost didn't go because I thought the whole show was going to be in Spanish (which I don't speak or understand) but it wasn't. I love the music though. Lil Joe was so classy, elegant and funny all the same time.! I hope I have that much energy when I'm his age. I would see this show again.

If you weren't at this concert, you missed one of the best events in the bay area this year. Very memorable and was certainly worth the price of the ticket!

    Excelent

by MACMO on 9/28/09HP Pavilion At San Jose - San Jose

The accoustics put out by this group are unbelieveable. They were true to their reputation and rocked hard with Carlos Santana. The vocals were moving. The only thing missing was the ability to dance. There was an open area where couples went to dance only to be asked to sit down. Too bad!!! I would recommend this concert to anyone who enjoys a good jam!!! MAC

A TRIBUTE CESAR WOULD BE PROUD OF

by billy8421 on 9/28/09HP Pavilion At San Jose - San Jose

A tribute to Cesar Chavez, featuring Little Joe, Los Lobos, and Carlos Santa was a benefitting tribute to a remarkable man. Little Joe was absolutely first class not just in his music but also his whole persona. Both renedentions of America the Beatiful and Rags to Riches which he dedicated to the troops and his wife were unforgetable. He truly made everyone both spanish speaking and those who do not feel at ease with his music. Los Lobos, the band from East LA, gentlemen all. Thier guitar playing was absolutely fenominal and their cross over btween latina and rock was awsome. Carlos Santana was his typical self, a master of the guitar, and his lead into La Bamba had the audiance yelling for more. Cesar would have been proud, and I am sure his family felt the same way, for they were also in attendance.

Little Joe Los Lobos and Carlos tore the place up

by Pneruda on 9/28/09HP Pavilion At San Jose - San Jose

Great evening of music at the HP Pavilion last night. Little Joe Y La Familia opened and they were terrific. This was an evening to honor the memory of César Chávez , the man who organized the farm workers of California. Many of the songs were sung in Spanish but with Little Joe, he was so expressive, you knew what he was singing about even if you were' non habla espanol' like me. Los Lobos came on next and first played some traditional mariachi music and then tore the place up with their own music. They are a tight band and always deliver the goods. Then the amazing Carlos Santana joined them and together they blew the lights out. Carlos' guitar was sweet and clear as ever and he can play like no one else can. They came back for an encore and played the Jimi Hendrix song, 'Are You Experienced' It was very clear that the musicians enjoyed playing with one another and it was a great music experience for all. People were dancing in their seats.

Finally, I got to see Los Lobos live!

by QueSiSi on 9/18/09Atlanta Botanical Garden - Atlanta

We went to see Los Lobos in August in an outdoor garden (Atlanta Botanical Garden) that was the size of someone's big backyard. Got to walk right up to the stage and watch anytime I wanted, Their musicianship is so seamless, so fluid, that it appears effortless to them. For a band with three six-string guitars and a bass playing, they have a way of weaving the guitar sounds into a single fabric, so that you are not overwhelmed by the sound, like in some other guitar bands where each player wills their individual sounds to be heard above the others. Instead, one is amazed by the tightness and complexity.of the sound. As in any live show, Los Lobos is not shy about expressing their admiration of other bands, or citing their musical influences by playing covers versions of well-known and classic songs. It's not as if these guys need material to fill up a set list...It's simply out of pure respect and class...oh yeah, to have fun doing it, too.. To hear Allman Brothers Band music in the middle of Atlanta under open skies, played in homage by one of the greatest bands in rock music, was a rare moment to savor. After the show, the band said that they were going to sit at a table and sign autographs or just talk. We thought that there was going to be a big rush of people, but we ended up fourth in line and had a great time talking with the band. My wife invited them to dinner to which David Hidalgo asked if we could make some fried bologna with an egg in the middle. We had a great time. Never miss this band!

Just putting in a day of work

by BRBabe on 8/29/09Atlanta Botanical Garden - Atlanta

Los Lobos had its moments--the music making it hard to sit still. But there were a lot more moments of pleasant, forgettable music. There wasn't a lot of energy--more like they were just putting in another day of work. Delta Moon opened--they were great! Let's get those guys playing more Atlanta venues!

Los Lobos good. sound guy not so much...

by dolphnboy on 8/29/09Atlanta Botanical Garden - Atlanta

Los Lobos did a great job. Played the songs I wanted to hear right after I thought about those songs which is fun when it happens. The sound guy seemed to have it set up for the Georgia Dome or Phillips Arena, a large space with some acoustic qualities. Outside in the garden, it was just loud and distorted, but not in a good way. We left early because it was making our ears hurt.
