About

Los Angeles Kings History

The Kings were founded in 1967 as part of the six-team influx that saw the NHL expand to 12 teams. There were some shining stars; Rogie Vachon was stellar goaltender, while Hall of Famer Marcel Dionne lit the lamp at a furious pace alongside his "Triple Crown" line mates Dave Taylor and Charlie Simmer. The Kings’ biggest postseason success during this time was with 1982's "Miracle on Manchester," where the Kings made the largest comeback in NHL playoff history to win 6-5 over the heavily favored Edmonton Oilers, who were led by a 21-year-old phenom named Wayne Gretzky.

Six years later, the Kings landed The Great One. Alongside fellow stars Jari Kurri, Luc Robitaille, Rob Blake, and Kelly Hrudey, the team flirted with success for several years, ultimately losing to the Montreal Canadiens in the Stanley Cup Final in 1993.

Shortly after the turn of the century, the Kings broke through in a big way, winning the Stanley Cup Championship in 2012 and 2014 under coach Darryl Sutter.

The Ontario Business Bank Arena is extrememly nice! It's such an intimate facility that there isn't a bad seat in the place. The game was awesome!! First hockey of the season and the Sharks came out on top so I'm a happy camper!

    So much FUN!!!

by BreeAn on 9/21/09STAPLES Center - Los Angeles

I had an absolutely amazing time at the game! My seats were amazing, even though the two people behind us were extremely loud and annoying. But I still loved every second of it.

    Kings plucked the Ducks

by Drankcoke on 9/20/09STAPLES Center - Los Angeles

Wow. The Kings are amazing on the ice this year. Can't wait for the next game. The Kings scored right away and that set the mood for the entire night. Loved the half time entertainment where people in the sumo wrestler costumes played a bit of hockey to win something. Not sure what they won but I laughed when they fell over. Now about the girls scraping the ice. Very stupid. Are we in 9th grade again? Get people dressed up in kings outfits to clean the ice. Now that would be fun....

    AWESOME!

by Ghost79 on 9/19/09Citizens Business Bank Arena - Ontario

My Review of the game that went on last night was nothing short but AWESOME! I went to the Citizens Business Bank Arena, and was just expecting to watch and enjoy the game but i got a whole lot more. When my boyfriend and I and his brother got there and got inside we got picked by the LA Kings Crew who do the breaks in between the games, and all got chosen to sit in the Penalty Box during warm ups!. It was just great cos we got to take like a behind the scenes tour of the Arena and see some of the players stretching in the halls. And then we got to walk on the ice and sit in the penalty box for the Sharks while the kings and Sharks warmed up, talk about awesome seeing it from that point! Steve our Kings chaparone was great and so was the other two were great as well we got to see what other people don't. But when the game was tied at the end the crowed got so loud it was like WOW! But we all enjoyed the game it was a Awesome experience so thanks to my boyfriend and his brother, and Ticket Master and Eric Blaisdale at The Citizens Bank Arena for all the great service and help to make our going to the game possible! :P

    GO KINGS!!!

by zytherin on 9/18/09Citizens Business Bank Arena - Ontario

Even though we lost, it was still a good game. In pre-season games Kings should be more aggressive....

It's great to have a game close to home. Super nice venue, good food, comfy seats, close to the action. Not quite enough leg room though.

by drayndeer on 9/18/09Citizens Business Bank Arena - Ontario

Wow! Went to the Kings vs Sharks game at the Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario. What a great arena. Parking was included in the ticket price. We parked just outside our entrance. Entry was fast & easy, food was good, game was awesome!! Smaller venue but that makes for great seating all around. And the Sharks won....doesn't get any better than that!!!

    NHL at CBBA

by hockeygrandma on 9/18/09Citizens Business Bank Arena - Ontario

What a treat to be able to watch the Kings at such a nearby venue! We love the Kings, watch them on TV, read about the games in the paper, travel to Staples Center several times each season, and always cheer them on. We loved being able to get home, after the game, in 10 minutes!

    Kings lose but outplay Sharks

by BlondeDeeDee on 9/18/09Citizens Business Bank Arena - Ontario

Nothing like not having a bad seat in the house. Playing at the Ontario Citizen's Bank Arena made any seat a good seat. We were on the first level fourth row and it felt like we were on the ice with the players. This is preseason so didn't get to see all our favorite players but did get to see some new prospects. Great game overall, didn't see many mistakes and no breakdowns from either team. Fans were in control which also made for a good game. I have seen the Ontario Reign here also, makes for a good hockey night out especially if you live nearby. If you have never seen hockey try going there for a game, whether you are a hockey fan or not it is good entertainment at a reasonable price. Food and drink is typical overpriced but good tasting and good selections.

Everything preseason is meant to be!

by Nickdoh on 9/18/09Citizens Business Bank Arena - Ontario

Citizens Business Bank Arena has no bad seats. The cozy arena made the mere 6200 people there seem like much more. And what a game to pick. The crowd got everything they could expect from a preseason tilt; three fights, a last second tying goal, overtime, and a shootout!

    Kings v Sharks Great action

by wleaderlee on 9/18/09Citizens Business Bank Arena - Ontario

Got to Citizens bank Arena early with the family to see warm ups and was surprised at the professionalism of the event staff and overall production. The game was fast paced and with the passing of each period accelerated to a white knuckle finish in which the Kings tied the game in the last 10 seconds. The overtime produced no score and the game was won by the Sharks in sudden death penalty shots! Wow. We'll be back!

Venue is great. Seats are a little tight. Ushers kept bringing late people down the aisles while play was on. Food is also very good. Southside parking gates all closed prior to gametime. Easy to get out
