Absolutely fantastic! Amazing orchestra and choir.
We have seen LOTR in concert several times and never fail to be in awe. The soloists were both great. It was especially wonderful to see it in the historic Radio City Music Hall - perfection. When it ended, we just did not want to leave. Look forward to Return of the King!
The show was brilliant. The music was phenomenal and my family loved seeing the live musicians with the movie above them. The audience was lovely and clearly so enjoying the show. The venue is beautiful and the seating comfortable. As always with such places, more ladies bathrooms please! Definitely a night we will never forget.
One of the best entertainment experiences I have ever attended.
My husband is a big Lord of the Rings fan. So I bought ticket, and it was such an amazing experience! Our seat were amazing and he had the best time.
Incredible experience. Now I want to see all the LOTR movies in this format. In fact, now I require every movie I see to have a live orchestra playing along with it.
I will never watch another movie without a full orchestra and soloists as accompaniment.
I recently got into LOTR and was given a ticket for free. I enjoyed every second of it. I was so engaged with the movie that I often forgot that the background sound was played by an actual orchestra and was in awe every time I remembered. It was amazing. I need to see every film with the orchestra and having to see it with a bunch of other people who loved the movie was phenomenal.
THE BEST! our only wish is that it would start earlier especially since it runs so long and is on a saturday. it would be so much better if it could start at 6 or 7 pm!
The musicians and vocalists were outstanding!! The whole experience was a real treat!
From the masterful writings of Tolkien to the iconic film adaptations, the Lord of the Rings will have its permanent place in cultural history. Stretching a long line of development, the passion and creative effort to bring to life a book already packed with imaginative depth is impossible to overlook. A major part of bringing the immense scale of these works has always been its musical score, and through this performance the audience is all at once transported and awestruck all over again, reminding the viewer once again that The Two Towers' music is integral to its story and conveying its epic scale. If one were to scan the audience during any part of the performance, one would encounter a feeling of unity; joy, heartbreak, pride, terror, and many others washing over the crowd. So entranced was the audience in their experience that it was as if they collectively were seeing the film for the first time. In my personal view, It was one of the greatest moments to take pride in the fact that you were a fan, and that the connection you had felt for all those years could not only be reinforced and doubled but also shared with a similar veracity. The performance and skill by those on stage were transformative in the experience; it was as if a masterpiece painting had been cleaned, restored, and given fresh paint where it needed it by the precise hand of a trained professional, bringing out elements that the audience had always passively engaged in but now could fully appreciate in all its glory. Thank you again to all those who were able to make this experience possible, I could not recommend it more. It is precious in all the right ways!
The combination of film and orchestra makes this a can't miss event!
LOTR is my favorite trilogy/movie. Seeing a screening with live orchestra playing the soundtrack was the experience of the year!
I would give this show 5 stars, but the audience makes me want to give it 1 star. One of my favorite aspects of the Lord of the Rings movies is the music/score. This show provided an extraordinary experience for all levels of LOTR fans and I did overall enjoy it. However, the constant interruptions from audience members throughout the show was bothersome to say the least. The crowd erupted in cheers, commentary, and laughter throughout the production and even during more serious/poignant parts of the film. During certain scenes, the audience actually drowned out the film audio, soloists, and orchestra. I would recommend this show to others but I would definitely caution about the potential for audience participation, especially when decent seats cost north of $100 a piece.
This events was amongst the best that I have attended in Manhattan! This is from the viewpoint that I have attended many events since I reside here. The orchestra and choir were amazing and totally on point with the cinematic experience.
I had not been to Radio City for decades and was delighted to see how well the place has been maintained. The hall was clean and comfortable and well-staffed with friendly, helpful and enthusiastic people. My family and I are big LOTR fans, and had a terrific time on Friday evening.
The experience from start to finish was amazing! I went with a group of 4, our seats were off to the side on the mezzanine (so view was a little off). The audience around us weren’t rude or loud, which exists in some experiences like this.
A must see show for LOTR fans! I saw Fellowship Live a few years ago, and can’t wait to complete the live trilogy when ROTK comes to NYC. So moving, so fun to be in a beautiful theater surrounded by fellow nerds soaking in the magic that is the incredibly talented live orchestra and performers alongside our favorite film.
If you are a true blue fan of the LotR films, then this is a MUST for you to experience! There’s nothing quite like sitting with a few thousand LotR enthusiasts and listening to a LIVE orchestra perform the film’s score to bring the entire thing to life! There will be cheering, there will be booing and yes, there will be tremendous applause for the orchestra’s triumphant performance… If you imagine this a night at the symphony with organized applause after each piece the orchestra finishes, you will be disappointed. This is more of an interactive, living spectacle — that of the audience with the characters on the screen and the music that helps weave it all together. And, of course, we are New Yorkers…when we appreciate something, we tend to be a bit loud about it. :) Wonderful, fun evening for the whole family!
