  • Excellent Show

by deef on 10/5/09Double Door - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

Living Colour delivered another outstanding show. The set was a great mix of songs from their first three albums and a sampling of songs from their new album. They didn't play anything from their last album Collideoscope. LC was in top notch form as always and Corey's voice was great. Corey has one of the best voices in Rock. They played about 2hours 15 minutes.

  • Too much tension

by cmlo on 10/5/09Double Door - ChicagoRating: 3 out of 5

First part of the show was really good. I mean, really good, lot of energy. Then came a battery solo, that seemed to take too long for Corey Glover, who kinda pointed to the watch for Calhoun. After that, Corey looked bored all the time and pissed of, and it got worse when Vernon had some problem with the guitar. Just a feeling, but it seems to be a lot of tension between them.

  • Awesome Show

    by Dennis5 on 10/4/09Lee's Palace - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

The whole band was great and such a treat to see these guys play in a small setting. Vernon Reid is an amazing (under-rated) guitarist and Corey's vocals were much better than I expected. New CD is really good and was recieved great. Highly recommend picking the new CD up and seeing these guys.

A phenomenal show. These guys are great musicians and performers. More than worth the price of admission.

I would recommend this band to anyone. I've seen them twice now, and they have only gotten better.

  • Living Colour Rocks Detroit!

by Dynamism on 10/3/09Magic Bag - FerndaleRating: 5 out of 5

Four virtuosos who can masterfully play many styles: rock, funk, electonic, soul, punk, and thrash. Played loads of hits and half of an amazing new album. They played for 2 hours and are an under-appreciated treasure of American rock. Soaring vocals, one of the best drummers and bass players, oh, and the inventive sonic alchemy of Guitar God, Vernon Reid. See them and discover their music through their new DVDs and catalog!

Very, very good show. The mates were in good spirit and looked like they were having fun. They gave 100% to the audience. Always appreciate artists who stick around and meet their fans!

i'm an biased for sure as they have always been my favorite group and i had been waiting 20 years for this show but it still managed to outlive my expectations. how many other group that made it big in the 80s(or any decade past for that matter)can you say are this adaptive, fresh, and innovative? they have always pushed the envelope and still are. the new tunes are in step with band's ethos but, at the same time, a departure in that they're not quite as lyrically direct and challenge the listener to discover an interpretation for themselves. and about that sound? DAMN! i haven't heard anything that massive and distinctive outside of a symphonic setting. my ears are still wobbling. it's hard for me to understand anybody not digging some aspect of one of the greatest rock acts of all time.

  • Go See Living Colour!

by AnotherDylan on 9/27/09The Regency Ballroom - San FranciscoRating: 5 out of 5

Talk about a band that has still got it! Living Colour has lost nothing. They still sound great. While they play a wide variety of styles, I love their hard rocking stuff the best and that stuff sounded awesome. The whole band is great, but due to myself being a player of stringed instruments, I have to say that Vernon Reid and Doug Wimbish really are just masters of their instruments and both kick major ass. Thanks guys, see you next time.

  • Living Colour was bad ass!

Unbelievable band! These guys are masters at their instruments!

  • Living Colour always impresses

by F1jones on 9/26/09The Regency Ballroom - San FranciscoRating: 5 out of 5

Living Colour must be my favorite band. Travelled to San Francisco from Denver just to see them here. It's been six years since their last tour, one in which I asked Vernon Reid to please not wait another ten years before releasing an album again. Just over half a decade later he kept his promise and I'm not disappointed with Chair in the Doorway or the accompanying tour! The band played for three hours straight. They began with about three selections from their first three studio albums before running through over half of the material from their newly released album, which sounds stronger live than anything preceding it, which is incredible in itself. Interestingly they didn't do anything from their penultimate album, Collideoscope. Personally I loved that album too, but some Living Colour faithful didn't receive it as well, as I understand it. Afte wrapping up the new songs, they reverted to some covers and more hits from their earlier work, including a two song encore of Hendrix's "Cross Town Traffic" and an epic "Love Rears its Ugly Head." The band had some amazing moments during the show, like when basis Doug Wimbish walked, ran and snaked through the crowd during an amazingly hypnotic synth-bass solo in the middle of "Bi" and Will Calhoun's drum solo, which must have lasted at least 15 minutes and included a lighted drum stick routine that was a sight to be seen. the production value was great, with themed abstract animation and images projected behind the band, and very good lighting choreography. The sound was phenominal, especially the crushing bass drums from Calhoun. After the show the band collected by the concession table to sign autographs and meet the audience, taking time to take pictures and talk with each fan. This is a band that really seems to appreciate their fans and gives back to them as much as the audience gives them their love. Really great to see. for every autoghraph they gave, they in turn requested one from their fans, as we were asked to sign a flag that they kept. Very cool. I can't recommend them enough. Each of the four is an absolute master of their respective instrument(s) and collectively they are one of the most dynamic, innovative and rocking bands I've ever had the chance to watch in person. Highly recommended!

  • Living Colour & Fishbone

It was awesome. Do yourself a favor go see both of these bands.

  • Two amazing bands

by soxchik23 on 9/26/09The Regency Ballroom - San FranciscoRating: 5 out of 5

One of the most energetic, fun shows I've seen in a while. Fishbone, as always, put on a great performance, and Living Colour was really tight.

  • Living Colour can still tear it up!

by fydo1974 on 9/26/09The Regency Ballroom - San FranciscoRating: 5 out of 5

I just saw Fishbone and Living Colour at the Regency Ballroom last night and they were absolutely fantastic. Drummer Will Calhoun took a Neil Peart-like drum solo, bassist Doug Wimbish celebrated his birthday by jumping into the audience and leading an extended jam from the floor, Vernon Reid shredded crazy guitar solo after crazy guitar solo, and Corey Glover owned the crowd on numbers like "Open Letter (To A Landlord)" and "Love Rears Its Ugly Head." And they all came out to the merch table after the show and signed my new CD!

  • Living Colour Rocks in my living room

    by 50yearoldrocker on 9/24/09Canes - San DiegoRating: 4 out of 5

Living Colour banged it out loud and crazy last night at Canes, a venue whose size feels like they're playing right inside your living room. About 200 people were on hand while the boys in the band played like rockers half their age. There were plenty of old favorites and many songs from their new album too. Vernon's fingers move faster than a Formula 1 race car across the neck of his guitar and I never get tired of Corey's amazing vocals.

  • Living Colour sounds great

by PlanetB on 9/17/09House of Blues Orlando - OrlandoRating: 5 out of 5

Living Colour is a band that should have had more commercial success, but their wide variety of musical tastes and talents makes a show from them more like seeing four groups in one. Definitely recommend seeing them on tour but haven't gotten the new album so can't comment on that yet. Good stage show and sound mix.

  • LIving Colour is Back!!

by toesq on 9/17/09House of Blues Orlando - OrlandoRating: 5 out of 5

Thank heavens this band is back in action! These guys rock REALLY HARD. They feature clever insightful lyrics. They display finesse and musicianship far beyond many ordinary popular bands. I've seen them 3 times now, and can testify that when they hit the stage, they mean BUSINESS! The crowd expected a lot and they got it. The people around me and everyone I saw was absolutely swept up in the excitement and brilliance of the music. I've seen Jimi Hendrix, Miles Davis' electric bands, the Mahavishnu Orchestra, John Coletrane, Robin Trower, Sly Stone, Adrian Belew, and many, many others live. These guys are right up there with the most exciting performers EVER. If you have a chance to see 'em, DON'T MISS IT!

  • Outstanding, new CD is killer!!

by Rumorhasit on 9/16/09House of Blues Orlando - OrlandoRating: 4 out of 5

I took my fourteen old son and three of his band mates to watch a truly talented group of musicians. The virtuousity of the entire band was amazing. It showed my son and his friends the possibilities of what could be done with a guitar, bass, drums or vocals. They command the stage and play with an intensity that hits you in the gut. These guys can rock n roll. After the show they were as friendly and accomodating as any group I've been around, signing autographs, taking pictures and encouraging young muscians that they are the future, all very warm individuals who enjoy enteracting with their fans. Some lasting memories were created and kids inspired, a really great experience and show.
