UNBELIEVABLE, THEY ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY ROCK, WILL NEVER MISS A SHOW WHEN THEY COME TO A LOCAL VENUE, A MUST SEE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lead vocals have never been better and the musicianship was beyond compare. Best of all is the group reaching out to their fans after the show! An absolutely fantastic time was had by all!
Concert was ok- Living Colour put on a decent show. Will Calhoun was jammin'- and group came into audience for a more intimate feel. I do not think that I am alone in wishing that they had played more of their classic hits. They played some new songs and some were pretty good, but they played quite a bit of music that had not been heard before. Also, and this is just a pet peeve of my own and I do not know if anyone else feels this way...and it happens at every concert I have ever been to...But I paid to hear the band sing, not all of the drunkards in the audience- I could do without the lead singer turning over the vocals and chorus to the audience. I paid to hear you, not the crowd.
While some bands slow down, others just get better. Over two decades later, Living Colour can blast a room with tight, expertly executed rock and roll like nothing I've heard or seen in years. If you thought these guys were great in the 80's and 90's, you ain't seen nothing until you see this tour. They also dive into the new cd, which came out the day of the show. Simply superb.
Living Colour are 4 of the most talented artists in music. As usual they did not disappoint at House of Blues! Even more impressive was the fact that they played an instore performance just an hour before the show. if you were lucky enough to see it then you had as good a day as I did yesterday. Go see living Colour.
Please, run to see these musical titans and frankly, one of the most underrated bands around. It is nice to see an 80s band on the road not just playing a "hits" package. These guys played liked they meant it. This night was magical and rare to see a club show with a band playing more than 20 songs. about 6 songs off of the awesome new CD. the old songs were reworked. a lot of improv ! they play like they are still 20 years old.
The boys are back in great shape. Awesome show in Orlando
I am truly blessed to have seen such a performance.
Mixing some new tunes with their greatest hits catalog, Living Colour showed on Tuesday night in Orlando that they haven't lost their edge. The Orlando show coincided with the release of the new album "The Chair in the Doorway", their first new studio album in five years. Corey Glover's vocals were spot on and Vernon Reid's guitar shredding was unbelievable. Can't wait to listen to the new album!
I've seen LC live about five or six times, and they NEVER fail to disappoint. Their latest gig at Johnny Ds in Somerville, MA, was the best yet. This is by far one of the most under-rated live bands on the planet, thunderously good and remarkably slick. First they played the hits--the classics we all know and love--then they treated us to their new disc in its entirety. The new stuff sounded remarkable, the crowd rocked out accordingly, and I spent the rest of the night calling everyone I know -- everyone with excellent musical taste that is -- telling them to buy the new disc, "The Chair in the Doorway." Top-notch musicians, stellar vocals, crunching guitars, otherwordly bass and everything anchored by Will Calhoun's drums. Come back soon, guys... it's already been too long.
It was a real treat to experience Living Colour at such an intimate venue as The Birchmere. To hear live music played by "master musicians" these days is a real priveledge and I was able to tell the band exactly that after the show. My 19yr. old son, who accompanied me to this performance, was equally impressed. Being able to shake the guys hands and show our appreciation was a real treat. So much so that I'll be going to Annapolis to catch them at the Rams Head Tavern. The DMV has much love for the brotha's of Living Colour.
This was the first leg of L.C's latest tour ...but had they not announced this fact we would not have known it. Their energy was as muscular, raw, and aggressive as when I had the pleasure of seeing them on previous tours with the added bonus of a more close up and intimate venue. The Birchmere is a great venue EXCEPT with a band that brings "must .rock. it. out. " energy like living colour , why were there tables set up? No matter....by the end of "Either way" I was headbanging and by "Cult of personality" most everyone else was standing up , headbangin and rocking it out as well. There's no way you can stay seated at a Living Colour concert. NO WAY!....
great from begining to end. Corey Glover is the best frontman in rock and he still growls, hits those notes and keeps you laughing. Vernon makes it look effortless. Will is a modern day African wizzard on drums. And Doug Wimbish is the cosmic thundermaster. if they were playing again tonight i'd see them again.
The opening band Grind City was a very pleasant surprise. They played with reckless abandon and tireless energy. The guitarist and drummer were exceptional. The entire band was very good and I expect to see much more of them in the future. I actually bought their CD. Now for the most underrated rock band on the planet "Living Colour". This was the first show of the tour and you could truly see that they were ironing out kinks and shaking off the rust. Nonetheless, they sounded awesome and each band member was a show unto themselves. Vernon Reid is truly a very underrated guitarist and his work on the new CD is breath taking. Corey Glover was spot on with his vocals and has tremendous range. Will Calhoun is a beast on drums and Doug Wimbish has the most important and thankless job of holding down the groove which he does very well. Overall the show was awesome and it's a shame that they don't get the glory and attention they deserve. Today's bands pale in comparison to this underrated Super Group!
What a roaring, massive-sounding show -- in a historic music venue where you could connect with the band! Living Colour was in fabulous form, heavier than five Led Zeppelins but buoyant and having great fun on stage, keeping things loose and engaged with the full-house audience. They shared many selections from the new album, "The Chair in the Door," to thunderous approval -- that material is as good as anything they've ever done. The guys were also warm and generous with their time afterwards, staying put to sign and chat with hundreds of fans. Here's wishing them safety and great success on this tour.
