It was a surprise for my husband,he LOVES comedy.. We loved the show she was GREAT! She played many characters at once which is really great. Now I know the seating I will get a closer seat next time we go.Our seats were ok,but Id like to be closer. I totally recommend this show to people who like comedy.

  • Lily was disappointing

by oldesoxfan on 2/28/10Pensacola Saenger Theatre - PensacolaRating: 1 out of 5

The problem for Lily Tomlin was her off-color material. We remember her for her comedic talents when she was on TV. The problem with the Saenger Theater in Pensacola was the poor sound system, at least for those of us in the balcony. I don't know if this was unique to the Lily Tomlin show or is a theater problem.

For any Lily Tomlin fan this is a must. What laughs! What energy! What a lady!

  • Lily was amazing

by Janlyn on 2/28/10Pensacola Saenger Theatre - PensacolaRating: 5 out of 5

I wondered how she would portray all 12 characters. I loved her on Laugh In and her TV specials. For my friend who was too young to remember Laugh In she enjoyed her film clips that showed all the characters she performed in her costumes and make-up. Lily was her usual, comic self even with the sniffles and cough. We laughed our heads off. Thank You Lily Tomlin.

Lily's performance was stellar and her interaction with the audience, "Just Perfect". Thank you so much, Lily, for placing our town on your tour.

  • Too much of the good old times.

by Wordslinger on 2/28/10Pensacola Saenger Theatre - PensacolaRating: 3 out of 5

The first 20 minutes were satisfyingly funny. But the space between loud laughs grew larger and larger as the show went on. That's the trouble with reviving the humor of a long gone era, even when the audience is made up of old folks who were young when LIly Tomlin became a star in those golden Laugh-in days. As clever and talented as Tomlin is, the material for the most part reminded me that much of our golden memories are better left as is than revisited in excruciating detail. Like the foods we used to adore, yesterday's humor just doesn't satisfy anymore. It's wierd realizing that by comparison, today's chaos makes yesterday's seem so quaint and mild. What I do know is that when Tomlin's subject touched on current issues, I stopped figfhting to stay awake. Maybe its us, and not Lily.

  • Lily still has it!

Thanks, Lily, for the memories. I so enjoyed the live view of the memorable characters made so famous by this incredible lady. She has my respect and admiration for all she has given us in talent and truth.

It was good time seeing Lily portraying life in Detroit from the past. I really enjoyed seeing the newer versions of Lily's characters. It was a very enjoyable evening.

Lily Tomlin gave an outstanding comedy performance Saturday night. She was able to interact with the audience and made the whole house erupt in laughter many, many times throughout the evening.

Next time I'll pay the money to get better seats! Considering she was sick, she did well.

  • Lily was the bomb!

by Anonymous on 2/28/10Pensacola Saenger Theatre - PensacolaRating: 5 out of 5

I've seen Lily several times over the years. This was her best show yet. She had a cold and still kept moving! Met her after the show and she was very gracious. What a talent!

  • Funny, Insightful, Patient, Professional

by Anonymous on 2/28/10Pensacola Saenger Theatre - PensacolaRating: 5 out of 5

Lily Tomlin is an exceptionally funny and insightful person. However, what struck me was how professional and generous she is. She performed with a miserable cold, made it part of her act, and moved on. Then she attended her "meet and greet" and although she was not feeling well, she patiently spent time with each participant. Very warm, genuine, patient, and professional.

Lily was simply magnificent! I had forgotten just how funny and talented this lady is. I thoroughly enjoyed the show and would recommend it to anyone

  • Extremely Entertaining

    by Holycow7 on 2/1/10Balboa Theatre - San DiegoRating: 4 out of 5

What characters Lily Tomlin is! Having never seen her live in a theatre, she was truly impressive. It was a full two hours of entertainment, with Lily moving instantly from one character to the next seamlessly (almost). Even when she started up a routine she had already done, she caught herself, made fun of herself, made us laugh, and she moved on. Who would think that one person on an empty stage, with no props other than a chair and a few sound-bites, could fill a theatre with laughter for a whole evening.

  • Way too much of one thing

by Drowsy on 2/1/10Balboa Theatre - San DiegoRating: 2 out of 5

It was over two hours of stand-up with Lily wearing a drab pantsuit in dim lighting. No sets, no costume changes, no character portrayal. No individual vignettes with varied lighting schemes. No change of pace. Much of the content was funny, but it should have been packaged in short and varied segments. Many members of the audience became restless and inattentive .

  • Lily was great, venue was horrible...

by BlueKG on 1/31/10Balboa Theatre - San DiegoRating: 2 out of 5

I unfortunately did not get the best seats in the house which made the experience less than exciting. You have to be up close to get the full humor of Lily----the facial and body expressions. I wasn't close enough and couldn't see her very well (she was literally a speck on the stage) so a lot of her humor was lost in the extreme distance to the stage. The seats were also extremely uncomfortable. Anytime anyone in the row needed to leave their seat, the entire row of people had to get up and exit the seats because there was not enough room for anyone to pass. The seats were worse than those on an airplane as far as leg room. So, I'm sure Lily was great for those close enough to see her but the venue truly made the event only okay.

  • Intimate evening

by CharlieMom on 1/31/10Balboa Theatre - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

I've seen Lily several times over the year. For the first time, this was not a fully choreographed experience. Instead, it felt as if we were sitting around with her sharing stories. It was a perfect transition for where we are.

  • Lily was wondeful

by nuby on 1/31/10Balboa Theatre - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

I was in heaven watching Lily Tomlin perform. It brought back many wonderful childhood memories of Laugh In, 9 to 5, etc.... She has not lost her comic touch! Amazing!
