She is as sharp on cultural perspectives as ever! Spectacular new material! Indeed, I've seen all of her Boston performances and this is yet another benchmarker! Work it Lily! What amazing energy, and the audience feels her being nurtured by her engagement with us!
She just makes me laugh! I saw her about twenty-five years ago and was so pleased to be able to go back and see her again. She can take her old characters and bring them to the present and work our current events into her material. I went with my sister and a friend and we all came away very pleased with the show.
Lily Tomlin was terrific last night at the Wilbur Theatre!!! We all thoroughly enjoyed the performance of this brillant woman ! She is amazing!!!
Fabulous! What incredible energy. I've seen her in the past and this was by far the greatest performance to date.
Brilliantly performed, energetic, funny. Great show!
The show was fabulous. My husband and I had seen her on Broadway in her "one woman" show. Lily was equally as good last night!!
We love Lily. She made me laugh, til' I cried. Her humor and her antics are truly unique. The kind of humor we can all relate to, no matter who you are.
She's great and so relevant and forever young and always ready to try new material and change the old.
If you like comedy and you don't want to hear a lot of trash talk and swearing, you should see this show. Lily has an amazing ability to entertain and get lots of laughs without being foul mouthed or raunchy. Her different characters and facial expressions were great. I remember Lily from when I was a child and she was on the Sonny and Cher show and I had always hoped to see her perform live. I was not disappointed!
While she has had to move from the sheer manic energy of her other large-scale shows, the latest from Lily Tomlin is scintillating -- brimming with her profound intelligence, blending truly funny one-liners with extended pieces that become small plays in themselves, often deeply touching. And always with a love not so much of humanity (about whom she is justifiably skeptical) but of people, a much harder thing to do. Her work should ALWAYS be captured on high-quality DVD for those unable to see her in person! Her new characters are as vivid and idiosyncratic as the older ones. I hope she does do a sequel to The Search for Signs of Intelligent Life... You forget how shallow and un-smart most entertainment is, and then there are the handful of people like LT, with her deep understanding of people and life. Wow!
The Wilbur is a comfortable venue with mostly great seats. Lilly Tomlin pesented a nice mix of classic Tomlin with new material and had us thinking and laughing! A fun time!
Very disappointing, not funny and boring. Terrible show.
Fun evening...lots of energy for a 70 year old gal...enjoyed old characters as well as current politics. Audience were obviously big fans and added to the fun. Lily is great on her feet and interacting with audience, more of that would have been good. Got lost somewhat in the switching from one character to the next...if she is going to do a retrospective, a chronological sequence, or a little better intro to characters would have been nice. However, as much as I enjoyed the old characters, Lily is such a great stand-up comedian, I think I enjoyed her comments on current affairs and change even more. One thing that was not fun was the complete 'sardine; experience at the Wilbur...I know that they are in business to make money, but PLEASE!!!
All the main characters are there, very much in the present, updated for today's world. Lily is just plain wonderful, a force of nature.
The show was intimate and delightful. I don't think Lily was feeling her best, but a professional trooper none the less.
Lily is wonderful comedian and entertainer. If you had seats close to the stage you would have been able to enjoy her animation but for those of us in the balcony we missed the facial expressions. It would have been better with some props and a camera to display her on the big screen for all to enjoy. Fun for all ages.
I found the performance to be hilarious. She performed many of her characters from her TV days. The audience was comprised of middle-aged to older people who thouroughly enjoyed the show. The only thing I found at all disappointing was her outfit which was less than "star quality". I felt she could have dressed a little better for the Saenger and it's patrons.
She was great! What a gift! I was amazed with her talent.
Mere words cannot adequately express how enjoyable an evening of classic Lily Tomlin was. Lily is timeless and timely. Her brand of humor is unlike any other comedian's. She has an intimate rapport with her audience. She relates to them and they, in turn, relate to her. It's the height of the human experience. I saw 'Signs' years ago and the same intimacy prevailed throughout that performance. My heart was stirred;my mind was stimulated;my funny bone was tickled. Thank you, Lily, for sharing your gift with us.
