LILY ALLEN IN CONCERT:
Pop chanteuse and controversy queen Lily Allen has been stirring the pot ever since her debut single "Smile" topped British charts in 2006. While she may have matured as a songwriter, her stunning soulful voice hasn't changed a lick and neither has her risqué attitude -- after a several year hiatus, Allen made a triumphant return to the charts in 2013 with "Hard out Here," a no-punches-pulled critique of the cutthroat world of pop stardom. Equal parts flirty and brash, the provocative Allen will treat ticket buyers to classics like "F*ck You" alongside newer hits like "Air Balloon" on her latest tour.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
London-born Lily Allen got an early start in show business, landing several acting roles in childhood thanks to her actor father and producer mother. After a tumultuous youth that saw her attend 13 different schools -- several of which expelled her for smoking and drinking -- Allen was overheard one day singing Oasis's "Wonderwall" by budding soprano Rachel Santesso, who quickly took Allen under her wing for vocal lessons. In 2005 she signed to Regal Recordings, but due to budgetary constraints she was left to promote her music via Myspace, where early singles like "Smile" and "Alfie" attracted hundreds of thousands of fans. By the time her debut album Alright, Still was released the following year she already had a substantial following, paving the way for the album's quick rise to No. 2 on the UK Albums Chart. Her next two albums, 2009's It's Not Me, It's You and 2014's Sheezus, both skyrocketed to No. 1 on the British charts, cementing her role as a dominant force in English pop music and paving the way for continued touring.

She was so fun, friendly, entertaining and real. The venue was awesome. Sound was great.
Lily Allen has been around for a minute but can still entertain with the best of them. Her performance mixed the new sensuality of today's artist with her own down to earth roots to put together one heck of a fun performance. From beginning to end Lily Allen rocks !!!
Not a big fan of the opening act (Lolawolf) but once Lily hit the stage it was worth the wait! Did not disappoint, and if she ever comes back you bet I'll be there!
She is playful and has an amazing voice and set. Please visit us more often Lily!
Terrible sound. This is my second time in Fox theater were sound is awful. I went to see Lorde and had mezzanine seats and could not understand one world she was singing. This time we a had balcony seats and it was even worst. It might we that the higher levels have bad sound, every time I am downstairs it's fine. We went to Diana Kral's concert in April and it was great no problem with sound on the stage level. 35 minutes after opening act ended and before Lily started to sing was a long time to kill. Lilly's stage set wasn't elaborate so we couldn't understand why we were waiting that long.
I have seen Lily once before and there was no issues with the sound system. I have been to numerous venues for concerts and have never not heard the lyrics or the singers words while speaking to the audience. This venue is stunning to look at. I would love to try it out again. The sound system was awful, however, and it makes me really sad. We sat at the mezzanine in awesome seats, not far up from the balcony. As soon as the opening act came on, we thought it was just the singers singing style that made it so we couldn't understand a word she was saying or singing...then when Lily came on, and we couldn't understand so much as her saying hi to the audience, we realized it was this venues crappy sound system. Only because I know most Lily Allen lyrics was I able to sing along. Nothing she said or sang was clear, everything was muffled. It really sucked. I'd go back for a different show just to see if this is how this venue does it's sound system or if they just did it for this one show. If the tickets had been pricier, I would had made a huge deal over it and written the venue.
No glitz, some glamor, ALL LILLY! So much fun! I waited 8 years to see Lily live. She was everything I imagined and more! <3
Lily Allen completely phoned it in. The worst show I can remember seeing. Bad singing, bad giggling, bad talking, but mostly she just acted like she was put out to have to be there. Super disappointed and left early.
Lily was very charming/sexy and put on a dynamite show. Lots of cool costumes and a fun set of co-dancers for some of her numbers. Her voice sounded really great live, as well. My only regret was that it was a bit hard to hear/understand some of her between song banter with the audience (combination of sound and her accent??). Anyway, it was a very, very fun show and I'm really glad I went.
The concert was good except that it was way too short at only1:35 hours long. This is too short fro any concert,
I got tickets last minute before her show in Oakland and I am beyond thrilled with my decision! I wasn't sure how she would sound live, but she was amazing, the voice of an angel! She had great energy, had fun banter with the crowd, and danced all night. The set list was great, her new album is really great. Definitely recommend you see if live if you get a chance
It was delightful to see Lilly Allen again in Minneapolis. She brought one more day of Summer to a City about to plunged again into ever colder temperatures. The crowd was busting the seams of the Skyway theater for her two hour show and enthusiasm was high. Her new material blended well with the old for a vibe that did not falter until the encore. The tempo was upbeat and as usual Lily directed many comments to the audience, who listened with good humor to the travails of young motherhood and married life, not to mention politics. Her band and background dancers were of the usual high quality and talent. Two nice touches for this tour, the large lighted baby bottles all over the stage, which did on occasion limit peoples views, but were a whimsical addition to the night. And a costume change into a Leopard body Suit she wore for her second set, complete with ears, which brought howls of approval from the audience. Could not have asked for a better end to summer than this.
Nothing short of perfection. Lily Allen was AMAZING. She performed beautifully, the dancing was on point, and her small talk between performances was humorous and light. Best night of my life!
Lily Allen was fantastic! I love how quirky and sincere she is, she rocked her set. The opening band Lolawolf was definitely not my favorite, but to each his own. I loved seeing Lily at the Skyway; it was more of an intimate atmosphere which was awesome! We were in back on the GA floor and could still see perfectly (and mind you, I am short). The only complaint would be the unavoidable drunk girls you find at any concert, but other than that it was amazing!!
First time getting the pleasure of seeing her, it was everything I expected. Voice was excellent, just like her CD's. Entertaining comments too. Would definitely she her again.
The show was fabulous and the crowd was having so much fun.
I loved Lily's performance at the Skyway in Minneapolis. She talked between songs and gave background on every one of them, threw in a couple covers (which were surprising and well done), and overall was really fun to watch perform. I totally recommend seeing her live!!
Excellent, fun show! Lily Allen is a natural and the opening act was spectacular. Great show!
Metropolis is a nice little venue, organized and clean. It's a converted old theater. Good seats on the mezzanine, with continuous, sturdy counters and comfy stools. Waiter service and 3 bars. The pre-show was great (darkwolfe), sound not too loud but very clear. Lily's was dialed waaay too loud, and left people with ringing ears. I like her, but that was a bit of a turn-off.
