After seeing Lightwire Theater on America's Got Talent, I believed their live Christmas show was a pretty safe bet. Unfortunately, the first half of the show (which lasted only 40 minutes) was so redundant that I left at intermission - something I have never done before. Essentially the only lights were those that served as rudimentary costumes for a few toy soldiers and a couple of rats, presumably from The Nutcracker, who absconded with a snowman and a candy cane decoration and proceeded to run around the stage with them. I reasoned that the performance was unlikely to improve and decided to salvage what was left of my evening.
This was a fun, family friendly event. I hope that they return next year for another show. I will definitely bring the rest of my family and recommend to friends. Very different from any other Christmas show. This group is very talented and creative. I wish they had been here more than one evening. Enjoyed the music and story behind it.
We weren't sure what we in for at the Lightwire performance. OMG! What a delightful performance: funny, dramatic, sad and simply wonderful. The American Theatre was the perfect venue because it is small and intimate. We totally forgot we were watching real people (albeit, unseen because of the blackness) and occasionally puppets. This is a performance truly for the whole family. After the performance, several of the actors met us in the lobby so we could see the wiring they wear. Please, if you have a chance go this this marvelous group.
Show was great. Theatre didn’t have a big enough slope for everyone to see the show properly.
My wife and I took our daughter and five year old grandson to this. He enjoys going to plays and musical events. The performance was outstanding. The use of the lighting and music made it easy to follow the story line even for our grandson. The choreography was very good and one wonders how they move in the dark without running into each other. I think the favorite part for our grandson occurred after the play when he got to meet the actor that played the lost bird. The actor took time for photos and explained the roles he played, showed off the electric costume and explained how they worked the lights to our grandson and other youngsters. We will see them again if they come to Minnesota.
Magical Christmas show, exciting, entertaining and heartfelt.
The concept is great, but the storyline needs work. As an adult I had trouble following the story at one point. It's definitely not for teens unless they are young at heart. My 15 year old was bored. I recommend sitting back away from the stage vs sitting close. You need to be able to see the entire stage to get the full effect. We bought tickets close to the stage, but moved further back after intermission. I really wanted to see this show, but overall I was disappointed.
This was the 2nd time seeing them perform. I had first row center for this performance. The show is great for people of all ages! They really have a one of a kind act. Def run and go see these guys!! You won't be sorry!
It was ok....more for kids than adults. I was so tired of the "bird" theme by the end....but it's good for kids.
Awesome story without words that even my two year old understood what was happening! People take it for granted the hard work it takes to put on these shows.
Was unique with everything being dark and the characters dressed in neon type costumes that light up and none of them speak, it is all musical. Would have liked better if had been more Christmas themed; guess if you know the Nutcracker story you can better understand the story line.
Lightwire theater was like nothing I have ever seen before. The story was brilliant. It made me laugh and cry. It made me cheer as well. The amazing ability of the performers was outstanding as was the music. I was swept away and sat with my mouth open for the entire time. I would definitely see Lightwire Theater again and highly recommend it. Great job!
This company is so creative! Great for children and adults! A fascinating story telling done in black light with unbelievable movements. You will say " How did they do that?" Don't miss this show!
Great for adults as well as kids a lightshow with a story . Really Neat
I thought it was great. My Teenagers on the other hand did not get some of it. My whole thought throughout the performance was how long did it take the crew to practice and finally get it all finalized. You can tell a lot of work was put into it. I was amazed. Kudos to crew. Great job!!!
Awesome colorful costumes! The show was great for families with children.
Didn't know what to expect but was pleasantly surprised. The actors were phenomenal. Their physical coordination with the lights were amazing. Had never seen anything like this before. Kids would love the show.
Had no idea what was going on. Fell asleep. Too repetitious.
The show seemed to have to much violence in the story. I would not take my kids there. Other than that it was nice.
