    Give Me Liberty--Smith!

    by Maccat42 on 5/23/11Ford's Theatre - Washington

None of the reviews I have seen has done this play justice. It was laugh-out-loud funny all the way through! The music was delightful, and the cast members were wonderfully talented singers. The plot hinged on split-second timing and nobody missed a beat. Had I known how good this play was, and how much fun, I would have gone sooner and often. Give us "Liberty" and give me mirth!

"Liberty Smith" was an absolute delight!

by theatrigal on 5/22/11Ford's Theatre - Washington

Clever script that gave enough "true" history while giving a wink and a nod to what is current today. Clever dialogue, wonderful music - I wish there was a cast album! - and tons of talent on the satge. Brilliant set and wonderful costumes. This was absolutely a Broadway calibre production. I wish I had gotten to a show earlier in the run so I could have seen it a second time. I can only hope this show gets produced again somewhere, and soon!

The Play Liberty Smith was absolutely wonderful.

by JCtheDJ on 5/22/11Ford's Theatre - Washington

This play was enjoyable from beginning to end. Particularly well cast, the players became their characters. There was no appearance of saying lines, it was if they were conducting normal conversations. The songs were very cleverly crafted and totally enjoyable. This play reminded me of one of my favorite broadway plays - - "1776". The orchestra was first rate and never missed a cue. The audience could hear everything. It's a pitty this play couldn't run for a while longer so that more people would have the opportunity to enjoy it. I commend the Director, the cast and crew, and all who made this a total success and enjoyable experience. In Summation: 'Simply outstanding all the way around.

    Fabulous Production

by JMinDC on 5/22/11Ford's Theatre - Washington

I took two 10-year olds to this play and had the best time. The music and story were filled with humor and good fun. I was very happy to discover the special $15 tickets for folks under 35 yrs for selected matinees. These girls didn't mind getting out of school early for this educational field trip. Our seats were in the rear orchestra...but Ford's theater is so intimate that all seat are wonderful. I wish there was a video of the play to purchase...we would watch it many times and it covers the period in history that 4th graders are studying.

    Liberty Smith was awesome!

by SouthDakotaSinger on 5/21/11Ford's Theatre - Washington

When we went, we weren't expecting it to be so hilarious. We were expecting it to be just some play. It was completely different. We laughed so hard, we were crying at times. We still repeat jokes. Liberty Smith, personally, made my top five plays- and I've seen a lot. It was funny, relaxing, thrilling, and it was overall great. The classic love story, the many- told stories of Paul Revere, George Washington, and even Ben Franklin, really started up our trip in D.C. You guys are amazing... no, better than amazing. Keep it up!

This show was amazing. Good for kids and adults, this show was cute, but also provided laughs for adults giving the audience modern quips interspersed with wonderful music. I will definately always remember this show!

The most entertaining original play I've ever seen

by MidnightMom on 5/17/11Ford's Theatre - Washington

This was my very favorite community type play I have ever seen. I wish I wasnt on vacation when I went to see it, because I would have gone back and taken my other kids and my husband and my mom as well. What a great historical play but also amusing, witty beyond belief and it felt very fresh and new, current jokes about history. I loved it, adored it. Would have bought the soundtrack right then and there for $40 bucks if they had it. My 13 year old son also loved it, was his favorite play as well. I think this would be a great play for all kids to see ages 7 and up! I cant wait to see it again....if it ever comes our way.

Great Music and a Lot of Fun!

    by atf624 on 5/17/11Ford's Theatre - Washington

Liberty Smith is a fun musical experience. I read a lot of reviews that said it was Disney-like, but I would disagree. It's fun, funny and has great music, but the subject matter is a little more mature than a Disney story... and that's a good thing. There are plenty of funny, contemporary pop culture references, hilarious twists on history and a great story. Unfortunately, it's run only lasts a few more days. So, hurry and get to Ford's Theater and see this gem.

Wonderfully done. Incredible voices! Wish there were more performances so I could make sure a grandson just now with us could see it. Thanks - so much work for too few performances, like :The Heavens Were Hung With Black."

Fantastic! I would definetely see this again and bring friends. Great talent, great story and great fun. Clever set and use of props. Especially appreciated facial features of characters -- unusual and so fitting with the story.

A pleasant surprise, since I made the reservation mostly to attend something at Ford's theater, not because I knew the show or had any expectations. The premise of the plot was unusual but the development of the characters was predictable. That was OK, since the singing, dancing and acting was quite good. I found the music engaging and the sets/costumes very imaginative. I thoroughly enjoyed the show.

    Liberty Smith

    by Fred26 on 5/16/11Ford's Theatre - Washington

This musical is extremely funny, full of energy, well-acted, and fairly well sung. None of the songs are memorable, but there are no really weak moments, except, curiously, the ending (the "Betsy Ross flag" barely makes an appearance before the show is over). It is extremely entertaining, and the humor is tremendous, laced with double entendres that are witty, clever, and well-delivered. We saw the understudy to Liberty Smith, and one would not have known that he was not the principal.
