The Jungle Book was an excellent performance. The dancers were all highly talented, even the young kids. The choreography was top notch. I've been to many performances by Lexington Ballet and they consistently exceed my expectations.
Wanted to love it but it was not very entertaining, with average technique and dull choreography. Disappointing
Probably my favorite performance by the Lexington Ballet. Ambitious (as is usual for Luis, the artistic director), creative, and very entertaining. Well done, dancers! A real treat.
Took my granddaughter and she loved it. She was mesmurized the whole time. Hope to take her to many more events like this at the Opera House.
Lovely venue. Professional performance. Nice souveniers available at reasonable prices.
Not worth the money. The performance was sub par and I felt very claustrophobic
First time here and I'll be back. This was a great date for me and my wife. We both enjoyed it.
I have a serious problem. I fell in love with ballet and I just can't get enough of it. When any ballet comes to Lexington, I must go. I watched the performance of Romeo and Juliet last Saturday afternoon and absolutely loved it all. Profokiev's score was amazing. The dances were absolutely on cue and brilliant. My favorite dancer was not Romeo or Juliet, but the nurse, played by Ayako Lloyd. She created such movements with her body, with her face, all perfectly matched to the story and music. As for the entire troupe, I just saw performers who knew their art and conveyed it to me so brilliantly. I hope director, Luis Dominguez, is given more opportunities to bring ballet to Lexington because his work is simply superb!
The performance was amazing. It conveyed very nicely the plot of the story. The choreography, stage lighting, and the music were wonderful, of course.
Lexington Ballet performances are amazing! Our city is fortunate to have this talented company and school!
Lots of good parts of the book left out. Had some dark overtones. Would not recommend for children.
Surprising how elaborate the production was; I expected a lot less at this venue.
The ballet was wonderful! It was so nice that all the children in the ballet school have a place to perform.
The performance was a good amateur performance but there was no one who really stood out. The student group needs work.
One of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. It was a great experience for dad-daughter night.
Try to stay away from the seats directly behind rails if you are about 5'5" or less. the third row behind rails has a clear view of the stage for shorter observers. Our performance was not full, so the staff kindly suggested we move back two rows, as they knew the view could be obstructed. The intermissions were well placed to keep us engaged. Mercutio's playful display was very entertaining throughout the ballet. The three gypsy dancers had lovely costumes, performed well, and danced wonderfully.
All of the dancers were wonderful. Great performance with lots of emotion.
Be advised that this story is not prone to as much dancing as charades. With that stated, what little dancing there was was out of time and not together. I've seen Lex Ballet in the past and have never seen them this out of touch with the rest of the troupe. I will continue to see Lex Ballet but will definitely read reviews prior to purchasing tickets for a particular show in the future.
The dancers were amazing! It is amazing that a town the size of Lexington has such extraordinary talent!
