About

Two-time Grammy award winning comedian/actor/writer Lewis Black uses his trademark style of comedic yelling and finger pointing to expose the absurdities of life. His comedic brilliance makes people laugh at life's hypocrisies and the insanity he sees in the world. He has performed throughout the world and the US, where he performed at Carnegie Hall and had two successful Broadway runs.

His latest stand-up special, Tragically, I Need You, released earlier this year and has already surpassed 1.3 million views on YouTube. The brand-new special explores topics including his ways of coping with the pandemic, his frustrations with the evolving world, and of course his thoughts about the chaos of America these last few years.

Adding a unique element to podcasting, Black delivers audience-written Rants which have been submitted from fans around the world on his podcast, Rant Cast.

Black is the longest-running contributor on Comedy Central's THE DAILY SHOW and his stand-up specials have appeared on HBO, Comedy Central, Showtime, and Epix.

In 2020, he released Thanks for Risking Your Life. In 2015, Black notably voiced the character "Anger" in the Pixar Academy Award-winning film, Inside Out. His other notable films include Universal's Accepted co-starring Jonah Hill, Blake Lively and Justin Long, and also Man Of The Year opposite Robin Williams, Christopher Walken, Laura Linney, and Jeff Goldblum.

The comedian has released eight critically acclaimed comedy albums including the 2007 Grammy Award-Winner, The Carnegie Hall Performance. He won his second Grammy in 2011 for his album, Stark Raving Black, and has a total of 6 Grammys nominations. He has published three bestsellers: Nothing's Sacred (Simon & Schuster, 2005), Me of Little Faith (Riverhead Books, 2008) and I'm Dreaming of a Black Christmas (Riverhead Books, 2010).

A published playwright, he's written over 40 plays and has found his work performed throughout the country, including at the A.C.T. Theatre, the Magic Theatre, The Williamstown Theatre Festival, and The Public Theatre.

In addition to his professional pursuits, Lewis is dedicated to a number of charitable organizations including the Luv U Project, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and The 52nd Street Project.

He's also deeply committed to supporting our troops. A seasoned USO tour veteran, he's performed for the troops on three Christmas tours in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Lewis is currently on his 2023 Off The Rails Tour. For dates and more info go-to: www.Lewisblack.com.

My husband, my two twenty something daughters and I just returned from the Lewis Black comedy show at Mohegan Sun. The show was awesome - Lewis is so funny and he delivers his lines with impeccable timing. I highly recommend seeing the show if it comes to your town.

    Lewis Black was ok

by turbox4 on 7/20/09Mohegan Sun Arena - Uncasville

Thought he would have done more political stuff. The story about his parents was good but too long. No regrets about going though.

    LEWIS BLACK-STILL THE MAN!

by EAGLE666 on 7/19/09Mohegan Sun Arena - Uncasville

Even funnier than last year. And, the following evening I saw a Vince Gill concert on TV and it was exactly as Lewis described it and I laughed all over again. Can' wait to see the next tour.

    Lewos Black was great!!

by patbl on 7/19/09Mohegan Sun Arena - Uncasville

Lewis Black 's "Let them eat cake" show at Mohegan Sun was wonderful. John Bowman starts off the show and he just get better and better. Lewis was on stage for an hour and a half- plenty funny and plenty thought-provoking. He makes one think about what is going on and even though it is presented as funny, it has some bite to it. If you go away without thinking about what is going on in the world , shame on you!

Without Bush, Sadly Not As Funny

by ctdude on 7/19/09Mohegan Sun Arena - Uncasville

Lewis Black said that many people were asking him would he be as funny without Bush being there providing a basis for a lot of his dialogue. He said that given politicians and who they are it was a stupid question. He sighted Obama hiring Tim Geithner, someone who does not pay his taxes, as Treasury Secretary. I thought ok here comes the diatribe...but nothing....absolutely NOTHING else was said politically....I guess Lewis is a liberal DEMOCRAT even though he makes fun of democrats and republicans for a living. His true self came out and was not as funny as his last concert last year where my group of friends fell out of their seats laughing. What happened to Lewis the iconclast??? Afraid to criticize Obama the magnificent? There were plenty of his four letter words, but not enough of funny material. sad to report this.

    good, but not good

by samb542 on 7/19/09Mohegan Sun Arena - Uncasville

The new material is not as funny as the old material. He was funny, but not as good as the last two times that we saw him.

    l. black was great!

by tsetsefly on 7/19/09Mohegan Sun Arena - Uncasville

Lewis Black "let them eat Cake" was great. Comedy / commentary for adults about life and politics. He has a great delivery and I have enjoyed his stand-up for years. The only negative was the acousticcs at the Arena. At times we could not hear clearly.

by Gypsicle on 7/19/09Mohegan Sun Arena - Uncasville

Marvelous, hilarious, bitter and sweet, right on! However, lose the opener, he's TERRIBLE! Have subsequently suggested to several Tweeters that they place their phones where Black recommended!!!

    Lewis Black tells the truth

by ROBERTINOZ on 7/19/09Mohegan Sun Arena - Uncasville

Lewis Black is the best. He combined comedy and piognant moments to both current events, and how he felt about growing older. He has replaced George Carlin as a comedian who not only makes you laugh but think as he is performing.

    Lewis Black

by ginger860 on 7/19/09Mohegan Sun Arena - Uncasville

Great show. Lewis Black was at his usual best.....on point and over the top angry. Love it!

Amazingly funny. All new material too.

by nickname2 on 7/19/09Mohegan Sun Arena - Uncasville

Almost all the material was new, I recognized only one joke used on one of his previous comedy albums, and it was used in a different context and he had also built upon the original joke. I laughed to tears on several occasions, Lew only gets funnier with age.

Acoustics need help at Mohegan Sun....

by Patriotsfan on 7/19/09Mohegan Sun Arena - Uncasville

This was a GREAT show which I would recommend to anyone - love this guy! The only problem was not with him or his lead-in comedian, but with the acoustics. We couldn't hear most of the lead-in act at all, and if Black got too close to the microphone or yelled (as he does) it was totally lost. I can't believe this is the comedians fault unless they use their own people to set up the sound. Other than that it was terrific. Seats were OK (on the side looking at his side and better than sitting far back on the floor), but I don't understand why there were really good seats empty and alot of people were stuck elsewhere.
