About

Cameron Mackintosh presents the acclaimed production of Boublil and Schönberg's Tony Award-winning musical phenomenon, Les Misérables. This brilliant staging has taken the world by storm and has been hailed as "a reborn dream of a production" (Daily Telegraph).

Set against the backdrop of 19th century France, Les Misérables tells an enthralling story of broken dreams and unrequited love, passion, sacrifice and redemption-a timeless testament to the survival of the human spirit. The magnificent score of Les Misérables includes the songs "I Dreamed a Dream," "On My Own," "Bring Him Home," "One Day More" and many more.

  • Epic show but difficult to clearly hear dialogue

by Bab’s Reviews on 9/23/25San Diego Civic Theatre - San DiegoRating: 4 out of 5

As always, Les Mis delivers. Unfortunately it was the sound quality that left those unfamiliar with the story at a loss. The speaking parts were not well understood. I have been to other performances at this theatre and this wasn’t an issue, so I believe there is need for improvement from the Les Mis touring crew’s microphone set up. I had guests who were seeing Les Mis for the first time and couldn’t understand what the actors were saying. One guest was even grateful for the deaf signers as she knew some sign language so she could follow some of the story. I was hoping to wow my younger generation friends with a musical I dearly love, but they were unable to decipher much of the dialogue.

  • Pro and con

by Celinebean on 9/22/25Centennial Hall - TucsonRating: 4 out of 5

VERY impressed by the vocal talent from all the cast members, as well as the building props on stage and the way that they were transitioned smoothly from scene to scene. The speed at which the performance moved felt overwhelmingly fast paced for me, like those obnoxious high energy YouTube videos meant to hold children's attention.

  • Amazing!

by Casey on 9/21/25Rating: 5 out of 5

Went to the 09/20/2025 Les Miserables show at the SD Civic Theatre. The show was fantastic! The singing was very strong throughout all the characters. Unbelievable. The set was impressive as well, particularly in certain scenes, like the barricade, the city, and the tunnel. This is the first time I've watched Les Mis live, but not the first time watching musicals live. I highly recommend this show.

  • Seeing the touring company of Les Miserable.

by Siwel H Gup on 9/21/25San Diego Civic Theatre - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

Went to see Les Miserable at the San Diego Civic Center. The Center itself is a great venue to see a show, seats are comfortable, you can see the stage from any seat and the sound is fantastic. Plenty of parking around the center. The play was nothing short of fantastic. The voices on all the actors were superb, including the youngsters in the cast. The sets were broadway worthy as well were the costumes. Of course the music of the show is the real star. What a stunning score and the orchestra was amazing. Go see this show again.

  • Such greatness

by Hector on 9/20/25San Diego Civic Theatre - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

Les Misérables was an incredible experience. I really enjoyed it—the songs were absolutely powerful and beautifully performed, adding so much emotion to every scene. While some parts of the songs were a bit tough to follow at times, especially with all the moving parts and time jumps, the overall narrative was deeply impactful. The themes of redemption, sacrifice, and justice were portrayed with such depth and intensity. Truly a story of greatness that stays with you long after the curtain falls.

  • Absolutely incredible!!

by Nicki Chang on 9/20/25San Diego Civic Theatre - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

Les Misérables has been a lifelong passion of mine—I've seen it over 50 times, and this performance was, without question, the most extraordinary yet. The cast was flawless. Their voices soared with such power and precision that my husband and I were left breathless, moved again and again by the sheer emotional force of their delivery. From the first note to the final bow, we sat in awe. The acting was deeply felt, the vocals spine-tingling, and the overall strength of the production was nothing short of astonishing. Every moment was crafted with care and conviction. If you have the chance to see this tour, do not hesitate. You’ll be treated to an evening that transcends expectation—an unforgettable experience that will stay with you long after the curtain falls.

  • As good as I remember from 20 years ago

by ADM on 9/20/25San Diego Civic Theatre - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

I first saw the touring company in San Diego nearly 30 years ago. What an improvement time has made. Most impressive to me was the scenery transitions and special effects. Spectacular.

  • Outstanding Experience

by JDubs on 9/20/25San Diego Civic Theatre - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

The play was outstanding! The performers are so incredibly talented so be able to act, sing, and dance so beautifully. The set design was spectacular. The orchestra was wonderful. This play makes you cry, laugh, and cheer. So many timeless themes that are just as relevant today. Can’t recommend strongly enough. I do recommend becoming familiar with the story first, ideally by reading the book.

  • Super Performance

by Craig on 9/20/25San Diego Civic Theatre - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

We've seen Les Mis on Broadway and a couple other presentations away from Broadway. This cast was as good as the broadway production from years ago; great overall cast and an outstanding Jean Valjean. So glad we saw this Broadway San Diego Production of Les Miserables.

  • Easy and convenient

by Sharon on 9/20/25San Diego Civic Theatre - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

Ticketmaster was an easy and convenient way to purchase tickets for "Le Miz"in San Diego. The diagram of the venue left no doubt as to where our seats would be. Purchasing the tickets was simple and secure. The transfer of the tickets to my Apple Wallet was easy. On the day of the performance, everything worked well and we had no problem getting into the event and were seated where we expected to be. Thank you, Ticketmaster, for making it a stress-free evening!

  • Very disappointing

by Huge theatre buff on 9/20/25San Diego Civic Theatre - San DiegoRating: 2 out of 5

The acoustics made the music sound very tinny. The cadence of the production was abnormally fast. Most of the songs were harsh and coarse, rather than heartfelt and with feeling. The familiar melodic theme was somehow almost missing.

  • Les Miserables equals Goosebumps!
