Started slow, but wow in the second half
by roodude on 11/8/21Ameristar Casino and Hotel - Kansas CityRating: 4 out of 5About half the band is new from the YouTube videos many of us have seen: Trumpet, one of the lead vocalists, guitar, etc. It showed in the first half and the Chicago-purist guy and his wife who were seated next to us actually walked out. I was really glad we stuck it out ... the band came back after intermission and did a bunch of Chicago favorites along with some Blood, Sweat and Tears and EWF's September. Led by the saxophonist and an outstanding drum solo, the band found its groove and started having fun. The second half of the show was as good as it gets and the new vocalist, Danny??? did some nice work and showed he belonged. It was a good reminder that bands are all about the musicians ... they don't stay the same and need to evolve to the strengths of the players. Not sure why the opening set was so weak or why adjustments were not made since it is pretty late in the tour, but I was really glad we stuck it out!
