    leon and dave

    by zuppa6933 on 2/27/16The Wilbur - Boston

Terrific show great to hear so many songs from the past. Wilbur is a tough venue for the "geezer tour" as I heard someone call us as we trouped in--whit haired and bald. Saw lots of us struggling with the steep steps and high balcony. Leon had some great stories--was sad that he did not reference Elton John who I think was important to his rejuvenation. But both entertainers were classy and 'just the music' focused. Interesting to see the lo tech video of Dave but it showed how many different incarnations he has had over the years with so many other artists. Great to see so many still following the beat and heart of the 60's and 70's.

Great night of classic rock n roll

by WalrusPHeffenreffer on 2/27/16The Wilbur - Boston

Dave Mason opened and he and his band were great. His guitar work was flawless and his voice strong. Appreciated the short interludes between songs where he talked of playing with some of the other great artists of the 60's and 70's like Hendrix, Dylan, etc. Leon was visibly a bit feeble and needed a cane to make his way onto the stage, but once he got to the piano, it was pretty much the Leon I've always loved to listen to. He was pretty stoic at the piano, but his fingers were flying over the keyboards as well as in his younger days. His voice was never great, but unique, and it remains so, although understandably not as strong. He also had some interesting stories between songs, and his band was top notch. Overall, a great night of classic rock n roll.

    Leon & Dave

Great show. Entertaining. Super music, musicianship, and song. Always nice to hear stories to learn the depth of the Artist - the journey that they have travelled. Initially Leon's voice did not come through, was not dominant enough. It was corrected within the first 10 minutes of his show. Over all - worth going !!!

    Became a huge Leon Russell

    by bim08 on 2/25/16Birchmere - Alexandria

This was my first time seeing Leon Russell, kind of a bucket list thing. Our seats were really good, probably 50 feet from the stage, sound system was fantastic. Met some nice folks. Leon is an older man now, but when he plays that piano you could swear he's a young guy. A show full of his hits, stories, backed by a great band and incredible orchestration. Musically one of the best concerts I've ever been to. It was intimate, moving, beautiful. Would see him again, especially at the Birchmere.

    Leon was in rare form!

by Lizzytishbsn on 12/22/15Culture Room - Ft Lauderdale

Omg. I bought a ticket for this event, because I'm an 'old rocker', and I live close to the CR, and the price was right. Was I in for a treat! I felt like I was in his living room! He told stories about his life, some leading up to the song he was about to perform, the solo of 'Over The Rainbow' nearly put me over the edge! My feet were killing me from standing for over 3 hours, but that didn't stop me from dancing! Awesome show....I feel privileged to have been there

    Dream fulfilled.

by dwb42 on 12/20/15Ponte Vedra Concert Hall - Ponte Vedra Beach

Without a doubt...best concert ever! No other performer I have ever seen has interacted with the audience like Leon did. He and his band were the consummate entertainers. And the concert hall was a great place...our first time to Ponte Vedra. Hopefully not our last. If you don't go see this great singer, composer, and piano player, there will be a big void in your musical life.

    Leon Russell was awesome

by FinksburgMan on 12/20/15Ponte Vedra Concert Hall - Ponte Vedra Beach

I was concerned about how good this concert would be since I was supposed to see him in the spring and the concert was cancelled, due to the riots in Baltimore. I saw him a few years ago and he seemed a bit lethargic. Whatever he has done worked. He was full of life, the music was awesome and his commentary riveting, talking about his experiences with Elvis, BB King and George Harrison. This ranks up with some of my favorite concerts.

    Leon Russell Rocks Woodstock

by SmittenKitten on 11/15/15Bearsville Theater - Woodstock

Leon Russell is truly the Master of Space and Time. If you have not had the pleasure of seeing Leon in concert, you are missing out on one of the best concerts. Leon is the ultimate musician and his band is awesome. Leon has fun stories about his years in the music industry, playing and recording with Rock N Roll's other legends, like BB King, the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, and more. I sat about 15 feet away from my hero, Leon, while he was on stage. He still rocks after all these years! I had a great time.

    by Chreesha on 10/19/15Potawatomi Hotel & Casino/Northern Lights Theater/Event Center - Milwaukee

Great show by a legend! Leon played all the songs his fans love. He is 74 years old but you would not know by his playing and singing He told great stories of his life in music and his piano was on fire. Great back up band!!! His guitar player switched from guitar, mandolin, steel guitar and key boards! As always he had a very tight band The show left no doubt why he is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!! Hope he comes back soon!!!!!!

    Leon Russell was very Forgettable

    by bigdawg48 on 10/17/15Potawatomi Hotel & Casino/Northern Lights Theater/Event Center - Milwaukee

I recognized about 2 songs. I often wonder why an artist thinks that rearranging their past hits would be good thing? Dylan does it at almost every concert and now Leon Russell? It's their right, it's their creation. But, I believe they get bored and feel their audience will get restless or worse, bored. Do they listen to the musicians in the band and feel like they need to spice things up? Why mess around with standards like Lady Blue? Sorry Leon, this new song ain't for me.

    Leon still has great appeal

by lifesthebeach on 9/8/15Saban Theatre - Beverly Hills

I started liking him in the late 60's, his style and piano playing, while playing/singing rock n roll songs. Then when he wrote a string of hits I bought one of his CDs. All songs on stage had a southern pop/rock feel to them with the audience enjoying his storytelling in between songs . I would of liked to of known a couple of instruments his band mates were playing I hadn't seen before. There were standing ovations after each song. You could tell the audience have followed him for years. The young man seated next to me recently discovered him, so I didn't feel too old.
