    better than 1975

by tommyk4960 on 7/12/09The Canyon - Agoura Hills

I'll admit it was a small club compared to a stadium. But Leon still has the chops. The band he has" backing" him has personality and talent. My wife and I had a great time and can't wait to see them again. Leon signing items from his bus out back made the evening even more special. My only complaint is that I didn't know he was playing with Joe Cocker two days later. Now that had to of been special!

    Leon on the Fast Track

by LouieLouie1965 on 7/12/09Galaxy Theatre - Santa Ana

Went to this concert expecting some fine vintage Leon. He came out and played each song like he was on a fast-track to the end of the show. He did not talk to the audience but instead moved from one song to the next without conversation or emotion. We could not understand much of the lyrics because of the tempo. The backup musicians were very good. Leon's been doing this a mighty long time. So maybe this was just an off night. Still love his music and he has a special place on my MP3 player that I visit frequently.

Leon Russell The Master of Space & Time

by theloniusjames on 7/12/09The Canyon - Agoura Hills

A Most Memorable Show. Leon was in Great Voice, he Delivered a Great Show. His between song banter was surely appreciated. He's a Wealth of Musical Americana History! I was Completely Captivated. The Venue offered a Nice Dinner and a Great Sounding Room to see one of the Truly Legendary Artists still on the scene today!

    unfortunate venue

by janan on 7/12/09The Canyon - Agoura Hills

Although Leon is a GREAT songwriter and he has an accomplished band, the venue was poor for his performance. The acoustics were lousy and all you could hear was loud music coming from an inadequate sound system. Leon needs to be a bit more personable and connect with the audience. It was evident that he was just going through the motions. I've been a fan of Leon's since 1971 and was truly disappointed with this performance.

    Leon Russell is always awesome

by Crone on 7/11/09Aladdin Theater - Portland

We love to go to the Aladdin Theater. We get food, good folks, good music, and all close to home. However, the music was so loud, we couldn't hear the lyrics! We asked the techie to turn it down a little after we saw a steady stream of others asking the same thing. No luck. When we left early, a staff person asked why we were leaving and we told her we're too old to lose any more hearing. She offered us earplugs...we left. But it was so good to see Leon again.
