LCD SOUNDSYSTEM IN CONCERT:

Back in the early '00s fans fell hard and fast for the funky electronica and rebellious rock and roll spirit LCD Soundsystem brought to their superb albums and killer live shows. The fun ended in 2011 when the band hung up their guitars and unplugged their drum machines, but not all was lost—legendary frontman James Murphy announced a reunion in 2015, and fans can't wait for LCD to blast some seriously funky stuff when they return to the stage. With headlining sets at several world-class festivals slated for 2016, the band has fans chomping at the bit to dance the night away to favorites like “Losing My Edge”, “Daft Punk Is Playing at My House”, and “North American Scum”. LCD Soundsystem is sure to deliver the party-worthy passion that ticket buyers love to feel on the dance floor, and fans can't wait for their epic comeback party.

BACKFROUND SNAPSHOT:

James Murphy bounced around the NYC music scene for more than a decade before gaining traction with the DJ project Death from Above, which saw him spinning everything from Daft Punk to Can. After seeing a younger DJ aping his unique mixes, he was inspired to write the snarky, humorous “Losing My Edge” in 2002 and LCD Soundsystem was born. He continued to cut successful singles and assembled a group of musicians to recreate his songs in a live setting, a move that thrilling both indie rockers and underground dance fans. Murphy's underground fame soon gave way to crossover success—the band's 2005 self-titled debut and 2007 album Sound of Silver both received Grammy nominations for Best Electronica/Dance Album. After the release of their 2010 album This Is Happening, Murphy decided to step out of the limelight and announced the group’s final show the following year. The hiatus only lasted four years, as the songwriter posted a heartfelt letter to his fans in 2015 telling them he had come up with a wealth of new material and decided that his former band would be the best outlet for it. With LCD Soundsystem headlining major festivals like Coachella in 2016, fans can’t wait to pick up where this dance party left off.

Love them so much. The show was epic even though it was the last of 8 they had so much energy. Do want to say that the palladium has a problem with the tickets as they make you line up after security check and so lines don’t start scanning right away.

  • LCD at the Palladium!!

by susita on 11/13/24Hollywood Palladium - HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5

Amazing experience!! They played for over 2 hours. James Murphy was at the top of his game. The disco ball, the beats, unbelievable! Can't wait to see them again soon. Great venue as well!

  • Best Yet!

I have seen LCD Soundsystem many times over the years and this last show of their LA residency was the best I have ever heard them, even though Tyler Pope was not playing due to illness.

My review is not about the band (the band is always amazing), but the venue. Particularly, the ADA section. I appreciate that the Hollywood Palladium has implemented an ADA section for people with disabilities or anyone who NEEDS the option to sit down. However, the staff needs to have more control and monitoring over this section. I witnessed several able bodied people abusing this section. Since no one was monitoring the area, there were several people entering the area standing, dancing and causing disruptions for those who were trying to sit and enjoy the show. No one should be allowed in this section to stand the whole time. If you want to stand, leave the area and find a place to stand. Being too short, or too tall, is NOT a disability. Please, Hollywood Palladium....do better with monitoring this area!

  • Would have been perfect

I had never seen LCD sound system before, and I splurged and got balcony seats in row AA for my besties bday. I’m really short so I wanted to make sure I could see and have room to dance. Everything was fine until a random security guard started to pull the tables and chairs in row A in front of us. We had no obstructions until he did this. So I complained to him that we paid a lot of money for him to move people in front of us. He told us we were then allowed to go to the VIP table area where they were but “couldn’t sit”. We got down there and realized that speakers were blocking some of the view which is why the other people must have moved. So we maneuvered around. We kept dancing and having a good time when the guy came over with another table and chairs and demanded we sit down because the people behind us were sitting and wanted to see. I said no, to either move the original people back to the space and I’ll return back or the curmudgeon behind me would have to stand like I am. It was so distracting. Bad vibes. Had this guy just left everything alone, it felt like must have dragged those tables and chair around forever. Aside from him and the constant distraction we had a great time. The sound was great despite the view being blocked a little and the singer moved around enough so that I could see him anyways.

  • No regrets & not memorable

by Tessa on 11/11/24Hollywood Palladium - HollywoodRating: 2 out of 5

This was the least danciest dance show that ever happened this year for me. I wouldn’t do it again and people who are too tall and don’t dance should have been yanked to the back. I’m sorry but if you’re not here to dance- go stand on the balcony and gawk. The show and the venue were wasted by 22 yr olds who just stood around or super drunk dudes crashing and spilling on people. If this is the band’s fan base - I was mistaken and will appreciate the 2009 album for what it was.

  • Fantastic show

They played all the hits and raised the roof so the Palladium. I highly recommend seeing LCD in concert.

  • Fantastic Night

by Ldon on 6/1/24Armory - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

Performance was really exciting and everything I hoped and wanted. The crowd was great. The drinks were incredibly expensive.

  • Awesome Crowd

by KCooke708 on 5/30/24Byline Bank Aragon Ballroom - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

I went into this show knowing only one song but knew it was a good band if they are doing 4 nights in a row at the same venue. Their music is not my cup of tea but I needed to see I Can Change live after hearing it in FIFA 11. I stuck around for the whole show and when they did their encores the crowd really picked up. I loved Dance Yourself Clean and New York I love You.

  • Thirsty and hot

by Fa la la on 5/29/24Byline Bank Aragon Ballroom - ChicagoRating: 2 out of 5

Please don't charge people 6.50 for canned water that tastes like metal. Have free water stations so folks don't pass out because they can't afford the water. That happened. Lcd Soundsystem was great, though the sound was not good on the ground level, way better upstairs, where it was sweltering hot.

  • Shoulda gone Sunday, too

by J!m on 5/29/24Byline Bank Aragon Ballroom - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

I dont really believe "new york i love you"fits as the penultimate song. Maybe right before intermission. Maybe last before the encores. Woulda liked to hear "call the police"or "no love lost"but the set lists were great. Best band energy friday or saturday, best crowd energy saturday. Monday the crowd skewed youngest and mellowest and by mellowest i mean boring. Great shows!

  • Phenomenal show!

by Graham on 5/29/24Byline Bank Aragon Ballroom - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

LCD sound system was superb! Energy was electric, music was great, and sound was shockingly good at the Aragon Brawlroom! Overall I had a 10 outta 10 time, I will see them again whenever I can.

  • good music terrible venue

by DB on 5/29/24Byline Bank Aragon Ballroom - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

LCD Soundsystem were great but the venue was terrible. It felt over sold every night. The Aragon Ballroom needs to sell like 500 fewer tickets for the floor.

  • LCD soundsystem = great for retirement

by Mutilation Wave on 5/29/24Byline Bank Aragon Ballroom - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

For a band that has tried to retire a few times they sure do bring the goods, and Aragon has risen to a better level of professionalism, and the services there are better than they were 5 years ago, it was a super swell experience, acoustically perfect as always and better sight lines because I wore my highest heel cowboy boots, always willing to give it another chance Great memories as always
