LCD SOUNDSYSTEM IN CONCERT:

Back in the early '00s fans fell hard and fast for the funky electronica and rebellious rock and roll spirit LCD Soundsystem brought to their superb albums and killer live shows. The fun ended in 2011 when the band hung up their guitars and unplugged their drum machines, but not all was lost—legendary frontman James Murphy announced a reunion in 2015, and fans can't wait for LCD to blast some seriously funky stuff when they return to the stage. With headlining sets at several world-class festivals slated for 2016, the band has fans chomping at the bit to dance the night away to favorites like “Losing My Edge”, “Daft Punk Is Playing at My House”, and “North American Scum”. LCD Soundsystem is sure to deliver the party-worthy passion that ticket buyers love to feel on the dance floor, and fans can't wait for their epic comeback party.

BACKFROUND SNAPSHOT:

James Murphy bounced around the NYC music scene for more than a decade before gaining traction with the DJ project Death from Above, which saw him spinning everything from Daft Punk to Can. After seeing a younger DJ aping his unique mixes, he was inspired to write the snarky, humorous “Losing My Edge” in 2002 and LCD Soundsystem was born. He continued to cut successful singles and assembled a group of musicians to recreate his songs in a live setting, a move that thrilling both indie rockers and underground dance fans. Murphy's underground fame soon gave way to crossover success—the band's 2005 self-titled debut and 2007 album Sound of Silver both received Grammy nominations for Best Electronica/Dance Album. After the release of their 2010 album This Is Happening, Murphy decided to step out of the limelight and announced the group’s final show the following year. The hiatus only lasted four years, as the songwriter posted a heartfelt letter to his fans in 2015 telling them he had come up with a wealth of new material and decided that his former band would be the best outlet for it. With LCD Soundsystem headlining major festivals like Coachella in 2016, fans can’t wait to pick up where this dance party left off.

LCD Soundsystem was totally amazing. I have seen tons of live shows over the years, including music festivals, and this one was in my top five. They really packed the house with a sold out show in a small venue. It was the Masonic Temple in Detroit. Which I had never attended a show there before and the venue is beautiful. The sound was great, the light show was amazing and the band played spectacularly. I know a lot of people that went with many different ages and all I have spoken with really had a great time. This is one I would definitely recommend to any fan. A truly great show!

Monday November 6th show, just amazing! Started late, but worth it!

  • by Anonymous on 11/9/17Aragon Ballroom - ChicagoRating: 2 out of 5

The room was extremely warm and the sound was very muffled at the beginning of the show, but improved as the show went on. Upstairs had large fans running, which made it much more comfortable.

Incredible musicians in an outstanding venue. Thank you for the free CD. I love LCD Soundsystem and I thank God that David Bowie asked you all to tour and create music again. Thoughtful, intelligent and meaningful writing and music that I can shake my a** to. The best!!!

  • Best Show of My LIFE!

by limejuice on 11/6/17Masonic Temple - DetroitRating: 5 out of 5

LCD plays LOUD and I was impressed with how calibrated the sound quality was. Everything was really clear. At a couple points at the end of "Tonite" there was an optical illusion when sound waves from loud low frequency bass distorted the view of the stage and made it seem like the whole stage was shaking furiously, like all the atoms in the room were being rearranged in and out of our bodies. The specific choices made with color and type of light, and how they synced with the sound was also a huge part of the show. THANK YOU James and the gang for not only making such emotionally complex music, but for also putting such clear care into your audience's experience. I'll never forget it.

  • LCD put it all out there

Amazing show from beginning to end. They played a great mix of their discography over about 2hrs. Wish I would have bought tix to both nights.

  • LCD was amazeballs

by ChaleMang on 11/3/17Austin360 Amphitheater - AustinRating: 3 out of 5

A few notes I cribbed together over the past couple of days: Venue: Spring for the good parking. In the rain, it was a godsend. Parking was the easiest I'd ever had to deal with at a venue EVER because of this. A suggestion for long-term happiness though: management needs to spring for a roof at that place. That was a lifesaver at the old Verizon ampitheater in San Antonio, especially with inclement or hot weather. We had the right clothes for it, but eventually got soaked anyway. Loved the variety of food and drinks at the venue. Artists: Missed Big Freedia by about 5 minutes, but we had a 90 minute drive to deal with and were coming straight from work. I'm sure we'll catch another show sometime. The DJ between sets was a goddamn hack, and I swear to god, the same song played for like 25 minutes. Guy couldn't mix to save his life--filtered the one channel and just slammed in the intro with no regard for phrasing on the outro but homeboy was still trying to fist pump and DJ pose. I know about 10 DJs in Austin alone who could've done better, easily with this guy's own tracks. The track selection was pretty much about the only thing saving this dude. LCD's show was goddamn amazing though. The zombie/prom thing was rad. The lights and sound were miraculous. LCD is one of the few bands who can sound better live, and they brought the fucking fire. Lots of ups and downs over the past month and the energy from the show really centered me again. It felt great to dance like a complete idiot and I completely forgot my pants and shoes were soaked. Really was an amazing night despite the pouring rain.

Besides the awful rain it was an amazing show!!!!!

  • Raining horribly and no reimbursement

by Cafesita on 11/3/17Austin360 Amphitheater - AustinRating: 3 out of 5

It was raining horribly and the concert still went on. The whole day I was waiting and checking my email in the hopes that the concert would be cancelled and we’d be reimbursed. To be honest the only reason why we decided to go is because we didn’t want the tickets to go to waste. We actually really enjoyed Big Freedia which is why we bought the tickets - just for the opening act but as soon as that was over we left. We were SOAKED and still the concert went on. The venue was so empty because people decided to forego their tickets due to the rain. Rain or shine tickets are bullshit!

  • Restoring My Faith in New Music

by DowntownRick on 11/1/17Orpheum Theater - New OrleansRating: 5 out of 5

With all the terrible music that comes out these days, LCD Soundsystem has given me hope again. It was honestly the best live performance I have seen in several years. The videos online of live performances do not do them justice. They sound so good, its unbelievable. Although this was my first time seeing them live, it will certainly not be my last. Picking out a show to see them next before this tour ends. Thank you James and the rest of LCD Soundsystem. Please do not stop.

  • Don’t miss LCD Soundsystem
