LCD SOUNDSYSTEM IN CONCERT:

Back in the early '00s fans fell hard and fast for the funky electronica and rebellious rock and roll spirit LCD Soundsystem brought to their superb albums and killer live shows. The fun ended in 2011 when the band hung up their guitars and unplugged their drum machines, but not all was lost—legendary frontman James Murphy announced a reunion in 2015, and fans can't wait for LCD to blast some seriously funky stuff when they return to the stage. With headlining sets at several world-class festivals slated for 2016, the band has fans chomping at the bit to dance the night away to favorites like “Losing My Edge”, “Daft Punk Is Playing at My House”, and “North American Scum”. LCD Soundsystem is sure to deliver the party-worthy passion that ticket buyers love to feel on the dance floor, and fans can't wait for their epic comeback party.

BACKFROUND SNAPSHOT:

James Murphy bounced around the NYC music scene for more than a decade before gaining traction with the DJ project Death from Above, which saw him spinning everything from Daft Punk to Can. After seeing a younger DJ aping his unique mixes, he was inspired to write the snarky, humorous “Losing My Edge” in 2002 and LCD Soundsystem was born. He continued to cut successful singles and assembled a group of musicians to recreate his songs in a live setting, a move that thrilling both indie rockers and underground dance fans. Murphy's underground fame soon gave way to crossover success—the band's 2005 self-titled debut and 2007 album Sound of Silver both received Grammy nominations for Best Electronica/Dance Album. After the release of their 2010 album This Is Happening, Murphy decided to step out of the limelight and announced the group’s final show the following year. The hiatus only lasted four years, as the songwriter posted a heartfelt letter to his fans in 2015 telling them he had come up with a wealth of new material and decided that his former band would be the best outlet for it. With LCD Soundsystem headlining major festivals like Coachella in 2016, fans can’t wait to pick up where this dance party left off.

Solid show with great song selection from the entire catalogue. The sound was amazing in this venue and the surrounding area is the perfect set up for a good time pre show. I've never heard this band sound better...fingers crossed they will return to Atlanta and choose the Roxy once again.

  • Amazing sound and performance!

by Swedgin on 10/24/17Coca-Cola Roxy - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

This was literally the best sounding concert I have ever been to. After James Murphy, the PA was the star of the show. It was the best show I have seen since the last time I saw LCD Soundsystem on the This is Happening tour. They played 5 new songs, at my recollection, and the best of the rest. I almost went back to see their 2nd night.

  • LCD Soundsystem are amazing!

    by DJDon13 on 10/24/17Coca-Cola Roxy - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

Amazing band. Sat up top at the Roxy and seats were good. Be careful buying seats on the side as they do have pillars that block views. LCD was great. Great sound, lights, everything was amazing. Went to both nights at the Coca-Cola Roxy in ATL and my only complaint is that they basically had the same setlist rather than mixing it up.

Best current concert I've ever seen. The 3.5 hours flew by, and found myself laughing at times at how good it was.

  • Brilliant

by unreal88 on 4/7/11Madison Square Garden - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Everything about this show was amazing. Even in not-so-awesome seats, everyone in our section was having an amazing time. Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant. What a way to end an era.

  • PURE EPICNESS

by Schmooty on 4/7/11Madison Square Garden - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Anybody who attended this show was in for a REAL treat. I was worried that their dound would not carry in such a large venue, but boy was I wrong. It was just an Amazing. If it is in fact the last LCD show EVER, they pulled out all the stops and went out with a bang. I would give 6 stars if I could!!

  • Awesome show!

    by zepphead80 on 4/7/11Terminal 5 - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Both Shit Robot and LCD Soundsystem were awesome. One of the best shows that I've been to in a long time. This has definitely instilled me with a new love for seeing live music in the city. Terminal 5 isn't a bad venue either...good views of the stage and they had Asia Dog there. Drinks were pricey but that seems typical for venues like this.

  • LCD's last show makes this review obsolete

by musicaldeviant on 4/5/11Madison Square Garden - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

It doesn't matter what I have to say about this concert since there is no chance of seeing LCD play again. It was a marathon concert that covered so many of his songs from all different albums. I was in utter awe of the entire show. I couldn't help but feel incredibly sad at the end knowing that this was it, but what a way to go out! James Murphy put everything into that concert, and it really showed! the man is a king! at the very end when James Murphy said this was his last song, the audience started booing because we didn't want the concert to end. then he looked out and said that he wasn't playing any games...that this was his last song and immediately we started cheering as loudly as possible for him! he deserved for every person in the audience to lose his or her voice cheering for him.

  • Unforgettable final night, unforgettable band!!!!!

Epic farewell show. Absolutely amazing. One of the best shows I have ever seen. Mega dance party.

  • LCD 3.5 hours of energy!

    by jwalldan on 4/5/11Terminal 5 - New YorkRating: 4 out of 5

LCD Soundsystem on their last night (Thurs) at Terminal 5 was a memorable experience. They played for 3.5 hours straight (including the encore). They sort of sandwiched a set of ambient groove house/techno with an opening set and closing set of more lyrical 'hits.' "But maybe [they] don't do hits..." They energy of the crowd was more whimsical and elevated at the start of the show and more subdued toward the end; LCD Soundsystem worked us. The overall production was quite professional and the band's interaction with the crowd was personable and candid - especially regarding frontman James Murphy. Overall, LCD Soundsystem provided an unforgettable performance. They made it clear that they were weary from the week's performances, yet it was obvious that they gave us their all. As always, the band was fueled by our - the crowd's - energy, our exuberant reaction to their creation(s). Thus, all parties involved had a blissful experience.

  • LCD dance partayy!

by Anonymous on 4/5/11Madison Square Garden - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

LCD Soundsystem threw an incredible dance party and final performance. MSG was a great site for the show and it was awesome to be surrounded by so many people on their feet simply loving the show!! Lighting was cool and certainly added to the show. I also loved that everyone wore black and white...it had a fun effect.

If I could give this concert "infinity" stars, I would. It was absolute magic in a concert and the most incredible musical experience of my life.

  • Fitting way to go

Absolutely amazing show. LCD truely went out at the top of their game and they showed it tonight. No true fan walked away from that show unhappy. If they have a reunion show go see them in a heartbeat.
