About

Latin History for Morons on Tour

A sold-out run at The Public Theater. A record-breaking engagement at Berkeley Repertory Theatre. Endless critical and audience acclaim direct from Broadway. Chalk it all up to the mad genius of Tony and Emmy Award® winner John Leguizamo, standing at the head of the class in his one man show, LATIN HISTORY FOR MORONS.

When his son gets a school assignment on heroes, John seizes the chance to teach him all about the great figures of the Latino world. But once he sets out on his irreverent crash course across three continents and 3000 years of history—from conquistadores to cumbia, Montezuma to Menudo, and taking on the characters in all of it—he uncovers provocative truths that shock even him.

    Best history lecture ever!

by jaranda2 on 12/18/19The Plaza Theatre Performing Arts Center - El Paso

As a recent graduate of a masters degree in history, this was by far the best history lecture I have ever witnessed. Not only was John funny as usual, he was loaded with facts and credible references that supported his claim of Latinos being a neglected culture with established, historical ties to America since the beginning and are actual victims of both a "holocaust," and "genocide."

    RAISING PRIDE-STRONG PEOPLE OF COLOR

by Luna Guys&Gals on 12/16/19The Plaza Theatre Performing Arts Center - El Paso

Having read and discussed with others interesting points raised in the book, "1493: Uncovering the New World Columbus Created" by Charles C. Mann, we enjoyed Leguizamo's comical one man show. Although colorful language and obscene gestures are used, these are overshadowed by his passion, energy-level and incredible ability to move, bend and dance to the beats of music rooted in our Latin heritage. Leguizamo's jokes, impressions, and dramatization of various characters entertained us for 2 hours. Raising pride-strong people of color through the use of comedy and laughter may be the best way of identifying and honoring our LATIN heritage and culture. And, pointing out issues relative to historical racial differences mirror the "unfairness and lack of opportunities" people of color are experiencing at this time. Comedy is an acceptable venue to make known continued inequalities.

    Must see for LatinX

by Dan B. on 12/13/19Majestic Theatre San Antonio - San Antonio

First and foremost, thanks a million to John Leguizamo for creating such an amazing work of art and history. If you are a fan of John's work you will not be disappointed. The show was entertaining from start to finish. The only thing I regret was not staying for the meet and greet. Our seats were also very good, we had a great view of the stage and the sound was impeccable.
