About

LA OREJA DE VAN GOGH IN CONCERT:

Spanish indie pop outfit La Oreja de Van Gogh has been winning over fans around the world with their romantic songwriting and dreamy live shows for the past two decades. In concert frontwoman Leire Martínez delivers her poetic lyrics with infectious warmth, radiating passion and emotion as she casts an amorous spell over the crowd with her rich, powerful voice. Martínez competed in the Spanish version of reality talent competition The X Factor before replacing former La Oreja de Van Gogh singer Amaia Montero in 2008, and the impressive performance chops she brings to the table have enhanced the band's live shows ever since. As Martínez works her magic, the rest of the band sets an uplifting mood with energetic bass, guitar, keys, and drums. The result is a stirring set of Spanish-language pop ballads that transcend language barriers and appeal directly to the heart.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

La Oreja de Van Gogh was formed in 1998 by four college students from San Sebastián, Spain. After cutting their teeth playing covers of bands like U2 and Nirvana, they started penning their own songs and won a local pop music contest. The prize was studio time to record a four-song EP, and the resulting collection garnered the attention of Sony Music. The band made their debut on the label in 1998 with Dile al Sol, a Spanish chart hit that ultimately sold more than 800,000 copies. Their rise continued with the albums El Viaje de Copperpot (2000) and Lo Que Te Conté Mientras Te Hacías La Dormida (2003), both of which sold more than two million copies worldwide thanks to international hits like "Rosas" and "La Playa." In 2006 the band won a Latin Grammy for Best Pop Album by a Duo or Group for their album Guapa, but the following year original frontwoman Amaia Montero left to pursue a solo career. Leire Martínez stepped in to fill her shoes in 2008, making her recording debut with the band later that year on the album A Las Cinco en el Astoria. Since then the new lineup has continued to tour the world, proving they're as fantastic as ever with Martínez on board.

    They came out pretty late

by Carlos on 12/7/22The Magnolia - El Cajon

Everything thing good, but… They need bathroom outside, while you wait to get in, and getting a drink. And the band came out an hour late 👎🏽👎🏽.

    Great performance

    by L. Sauceda on 1/16/22

The performance was worth the while. They would communicate with the audience in between each song and played the show for two hours. I would see them again.

This concert was worth the wait…LOVG never disappoints with the classics and new songs. Leire was stunning as usual and the guys were on point! Glad I was able to witness such an amazing concert with my family and the Orejudos from all over that came to see them. If they return to the U.S. again, I highly recommend seeing them.

Five Stars for La Oreja de Van Gogh...Zero for Ticketmaster

by sacredhigh on 12/12/21The Wiltern - Los Angeles

Amazing show. I was so happy to finally be able to see one of my favorite bands. The concert was amazing start to finish. I don't speak Spanish but fell in love with them the first time I heard Rasas. The "hew" singer did an amazing job of the "classics" and the "new"er songs. Leire Martinez is a great performer and loved the interaction with her and the audience. I never felt the need to leave for a drink. Every song had me in trance. Ok...I'll stop using the word "amazing." For Ticketmaster: No response to questions. I wanted to get a "hard" ticket so I could put it in my collection as I keep my tickets like a photo. I had an a great night. The music was on point and I hope to see them again. Hopefully, I will have ah option outside of Ticketmaster to purchase tickets next time.

    Magical Night!

    by Jerson C on 12/10/21

This was my second time seeing them in concert and they did not disappoint. Unfortunately we did wait almost 1 1/2 hours for them to come out but it was worth the wait. Such an amazing moment, their songs were just incredible! Definitely recommend to new LOVG fans to attend a concert!

    Not on time

by Ninive on 12/10/21House of Blues San Diego - San Diego

This the first concert I go and the artist come out late like an hour and a half. The place was big enough and the bar service was fast. There were two bars, one on the first floor and other on second flor. The only thing we do mot have in control was the people that after I was standing on my spot for the artists , some other people came up infront of me blocking my view. Good sound and lights. I had a good time.

    Amazing!!

by Deeds on 12/7/21Ace of Spades - Sacramento

Maybe it was the fact that this was my return to the scene from this pandemic; but La Oreja De VanGogh was amazing loved and enjoyed they’re show very much. I loved that not only did they cover their latest music but mixed in some of they’re past hits. The venue is the best (local) I’m glad they have ada seating (other local venues don’t) I don’t see what’s all the talk about this place but I enjoy it. Staff is very attentive, and will help.
