About

LA Galaxy History

The LA Galaxy have been playing since Major League Soccer launched in 1996. After topping the Western Conference in the league’s inaugural season, the Galaxy led the conference twice more before they clinched their first MLS Cup in 2002 against the New England Revolution. History would repeat itself in 2005, when they emerged victorious over the Revolution for their second MLS Cup.

From 2007 to 2012, British football legend David Beckham joined the Galaxy, and in short order, pushed the club to two MLS Cup victories, in 2011 and 2012. Even after Beckham's departure, the Galaxy continued to shine. After winning the Cup over the Revolution again in 2014, the Galaxy became the first team in the league to nab the championship five times. The Galaxy furthered their league championship record with a sixth MLS Cup win in 2024. Overall, the LA Galaxy have earned four Supporters’ Shields, two U.S. Open Cup titles and the 2000 CONCACAF Champions Cup.

Among the Galaxy’s alumni are three MLS MVP winners: Carlos Ruiz (2002), Landon Donovan (2009) and Robbie Keane (2014). In 2015, the award was renamed the Landon Donovan MVP Award to honor the decorated All-Star midfielder’s career. Donovan also earned the Golden Boot as the league’s leading scorer in 2008.

In 2023, the Galaxy helped set the MLS single match attendance record at 82,110 in an annual "El Tráfico" rivalry match against Los Angeles FC at the Rose Bowl on July 4.

  • GO GALAXY!

Very exciting hard fought game. Actually, both teams were amazing but I wish Galaxy could have pulled out a win. I put the poster that was given out up in my classroom because there are a lot of Galaxy fans in my room. Had a great time and hopefully will be at the rest of the Galaxy home games.

  • Beck's and Henry were awesome to watch....loved it

This was the best game yet, that I have been to. Driving 6 hours to get there was worth it. Although the final score was a little disappointing the overall game was outstanding......I totally enjoyed myself! Will definitely do it again soon.

Cant remember when was the last time i had so much fun in my life..Best 2 hrs spend ever..period..Worth every cent. Loved the atmosphere .So happy to see soccer ( football) is catching up and so popular in USA. Amazing crowd. It was like watching a game in Europe .Great view of the field from every seat.

  • Awesome time!

The atmosphere was great, fans were intense! Players played hard!! It was my first soccer game and I am definitely going back! Ours seats were pretty good seats, then again, most of the seats at the center you can get a clear view of the game! Facilities were clean, service was efficient, but I recommend going EARLY to find parking! We parked at the college, but it was not a far or bad walk. We had a great time!

Awesome match between the two best teams in MLS. Home Depot Center Security sucks though. Didn't allow bringing DSLR into the stadium.

  • Let’s start winning.

  • The Ultimate MLS Experience

by THan103 on 5/9/11The Home Depot Center - CarsonRating: 4 out of 5

First off, watching the legendary Henry and Landon Donovan score goals were unbelievable. Beckham really knows how to stir up a crowd just by being near a ball! haha Watching a game live is an irreproducible experience. We had BEAUTIFUL seats, 6th row up. The Fan sections were lovely; chanting and cheering throughout the whole game. One upset, however: I was a bit disappointed after seeing so many McDonald's advertisements that there was no actual McDonalds present in the stadium. I wanted to get my McFlurry on! Overall a wonderful evening. Can't wait until my next Galaxy match!

  • Lets go Galaxy!

by DanEChoi on 5/9/11The Home Depot Center - CarsonRating: 4 out of 5

It's been a while since I last went to a galaxy game and I forgot how entertaining it is to watch a good game. Luckily, both Thierry Henry and David Beckham played when I went ad it was verg cool because I'm a huge fan of Henry and I've never seen him play. However only the first half was entertaining. But it was entertaining overall. I highly recommend this to anyone who has soccer pride.

Great seats! And we were in the top row! Seriously I would buy these exact seats every game.. We were at the half way line and had an amazing view of the whole field. Similar to the camera angle on most games broadcast. Closer though

  • Great Atmosphere.

by GL23 on 5/9/11The Home Depot Center - CarsonRating: 4 out of 5

Environment was very exciting with teams atop their respective conferences squaring off on a beautiful night. Pace of the game was quick and some exciting chances made the game more enjoyable. The only negative is that AT&T is a huge sponsor for the LA Galaxy and our cell phones had absolutely no reception. Other AT&T users around us were complaining as well.

Great to see the Galaxy dominate on both ends of the pitch. The stadium was electric because the Galaxy played a great all around game with the 3-0 victory.

LA Galaxy played a game reminiscent of their glory days. They played with heart and confidence. It was a joy to watch. Beckham was the catalyst, launching Donovan, Gonzalez, and the rest of the team to its undeniable triumph.

  • Family atmosphere needed!!!

by rc2jigu on 4/25/11The Home Depot Center - CarsonRating: 4 out of 5

It was a great game! However, we were sitting by the cheering section, 136, where much of explicit languages for my 3 boys to hear thru out the game. There were many younger childrens around us as well. I think it will be great idea to have family section to accomodate family with kids. Nonetheless, it was a great game!
