La Boheme Tickets

Last night's performance of La Boheme was ASTONISHING! The soloists were incredibly strong - you could hear every word they sang. Mimi's voice was amazing - listing, lyrical, and incredibly strong. Rodolfo hit all of his notes strongly, yet without forcing. Thackar kept the orchestra perfectly balanced with the soloists - a challenging task when BOTH were on stage. The lack of staging did NOT detract from this performance. In fact, the leads - and the chorus at some points too, for that matter - were acting even without props. In fact, their performance was so strong that you could IMAGINE the scenes. The only disappointment was the "polite" applause by the audience at the end of the performance. For a group that generally "leaps to its feet" for the most mediocre display of talent, this was truly disappointing. We've lived in Duluth 8 years now, and this is the BEST performance we've seen that entire time. You will be doing yourselves a HUGE DISSERVICE if you miss your chance Saturday to see the repeat. In a word - "GO!"

The singers were amazing the only thing I really had a problem with was the lack of costumes and set. The on site artist who drew the sets just didn't impress me. I was glad he did have some drawing done ahead of time otherwise it really would have been a let down. Usually he couldn't keep up and hadn't finished the sketch by the time they were ready for a new one. Great performance Marcello was amazing but they really needed costumes and good sets.
