About

Kris Kristofferson on Tour

When Kris Kristofferson hits the stage, it's clear why he's become a legend of outlaw country. He plays it like he feels it — as an unfancy, master singer-songwriter, sometimes with a band and sometimes without, strumming his acoustic guitar and delivering his game-changing songs with well-weathered style. His character-rich voice lets you know he's been around the block more than once, and the songs combine a poet's command of language with a country singer's knack for putting things together organically so they go down easy. Along the way, he slips in his one-of-a-kind perspective on things. He might be unpacking the wistful romanticism of "Me and Bobby McGee" or depicting the morning-after madness of "Sunday Mornin' Comin' Down," but he always makes you see the world a bit differently.

Kris Kristofferson in Concert

After Kris Kristofferson first started making waves in Nashville in the late '60s, country music (and American music) was forever changed. Singer-songwriters had never written so frankly about sensuality, and country had never had its own Bob Dylan before. With Kristofferson came a glorious collision of poetry-laden lyrics and countercultural sensibilities with the attitude of rock 'n' roll and the template of classic country. Besides making waves with his own albums, he reached into our collective conscience through his songs' numerous covers, performed by artists like Janis Joplin ("Me and Bobby McGee") and Sammi Smith ("Help Me Make It Through the Night"). Before the '70s were over, his natural charisma and chiseled countenance had helped make him a movie star too, with films like Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore and A Star Is Born. Later he became a member of legendary supergroup The Highwaymen, alongside Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson. As the decades passed, Kristofferson has never backed away from his commitment to write and perform to the utmost of his abilities. He's a true-blue American legend.

  • I wouldn’t have missed it for the world. He was terrific!

by D. L. on 1/18/19Morrison Center for the Performing Arts - BoiseRating: 5 out of 5

He was so loved! Loved having the haggard band back him up but he is such an amazing song writer. Loved that he sang the entire time without a bunch of stories and that he sang some of his OLD songs, specially Jesus Was a Capricorn. Thank you for promoting him.

  • Fabulous!

This man is a true legend, and although I've seen him in concert before, I feel privileged to be in his company. He's a poet and to hear his songs sung by him is such a pleasure. And, at 82, I'm more in awe of him than ever !!!!! Love you, Kris.

  • Kris Kristofferson & The Strangers

by Becky on 1/18/19Morrison Center for the Performing Arts - BoiseRating: 5 out of 5

We love concerts at the Morrison Center first of all! We also attended the previous concert with Merle Haggert so knew we could NOT miss Kris playing with "the Hag's" band, The Strangers. It was all and more than expected. I could listen to that music all night long. Perfect evening - the band was awesome - and we love all the songs Kris Kristofferson wrote and sang. Thanks so much for bringing him one more time to Boise.

  • Great!

Wonderful evening! Music was great and so lucky to see an American Hero (military helicopter pilot) that went on to give pleasure to millions through his music.

  • 5 stars, for sure

Love the venue, loved the show!! We get down here 3-4 times a year, and have never had a bad experience!

  • A legend

by Linz on 1/18/19Morrison Center for the Performing Arts - BoiseRating: 5 out of 5

Kris is a legend. A songwriting hero. To see him onstage for the 3rd time was incredible. Merle's band is fantastic.

  • Somewhat boring

by V. A. on 1/18/19Morrison Center for the Performing Arts - BoiseRating: 2 out of 5

Phone cameras shouldn't be allowed to take photos in the Morrison Center. While Kris is a very gifted songwriter, I was disappointed that we could hardly hear the wonderful lyrics and a lot of the songs sounded monotonous due to the same beat. It's too bad that his musicians didn't get to do more solos to show off their musical skills. The 4 they did do were wonderful and the crowd really appreciated them. Know they were capable of doing more guitar and fiddle "licks" to give us some variety.

  • Kris Kristofferson

by Judyj on 1/18/19Morrison Center for the Performing Arts - BoiseRating: 4 out of 5

I’ve followed Kris over the years. I’ve never thought he was strong as a single performer so was glad to see him perform with The Strangers. He was on time, and the audience- including me- was appreciative. His songs were heartfelt and have a history behind them. I knew what I signed up for- probably one of his final concerts- and I enjoyed it.

  • Kristofferson was classic

Kris Kristofferson may be very experienced but he can still put on one heck of a show. He comes out and sings his hits and doesn't waste time. He puts in a lot of quality and not so much quantity. GREAT SHOW!!

  • Kris Kristofferson was great

this was my first time to see him and he put on a great show. for his age, he is still going strong. just had a wonderful night. we were sitting almost in the last row and there were a couple of guys talking a bit loud, but when i shushed them- for the third time- they were quiet. i didn't rate the venue amazing for that reason. i wish i had better seats.

  • Kristofferson = Awesome

Great show!! Love Kristofferson and extra treat was Merle Haggard's son performed with him!!

  • Kristofferson was great!

    by Debury59 on 5/15/18Horseshoe Casino's Bluesville - RobinsonvilleRating: 5 out of 5

Kris was awesome! Merle Haggard's band, The Strangers were a great addition to the show. Really enjoyed hearing the Merle songs scattered throughout the set. The only problem with the show was that the people behind us carried on a conversation throughout the whole concert. It was very rude and quite irritating. They should have been asked to leave the show.

  • Legend in Concert!

    by Missark on 5/15/18Horseshoe Casino's Bluesville - RobinsonvilleRating: 5 out of 5

Kris Kristofferson is KRIS KRISTOFFERSON, he is a living legend, it was a great surprise to also have The Strangers - Merle Haggard's band - supporting Kris! I am a big fan of Ben Haggard so double treat for me! Only disappointment was the show only lasted 1 hour 15 minutes and no encore, when he was done, he was done, and we were left with wanting more!

  • Great concert

I was very pleased to get a chance to attend the Kris Kristofferson concert at the Horseshoe Casino in Tunica Mississippi. An unexpected treat was the Merle Haggard band playing for Kris. The show was sold out and the crowd sang along as Kris sang his hit songs. A couple of band members sang solos that were great too. Overall it was very entertaining.

unfortunately the four people in front of us never stopped talking so loud we could hardly the lyrics. Very rude!
