About

Kris Kristofferson on Tour

When Kris Kristofferson hits the stage, it's clear why he's become a legend of outlaw country. He plays it like he feels it — as an unfancy, master singer-songwriter, sometimes with a band and sometimes without, strumming his acoustic guitar and delivering his game-changing songs with well-weathered style. His character-rich voice lets you know he's been around the block more than once, and the songs combine a poet's command of language with a country singer's knack for putting things together organically so they go down easy. Along the way, he slips in his one-of-a-kind perspective on things. He might be unpacking the wistful romanticism of "Me and Bobby McGee" or depicting the morning-after madness of "Sunday Mornin' Comin' Down," but he always makes you see the world a bit differently.

Kris Kristofferson in Concert

After Kris Kristofferson first started making waves in Nashville in the late '60s, country music (and American music) was forever changed. Singer-songwriters had never written so frankly about sensuality, and country had never had its own Bob Dylan before. With Kristofferson came a glorious collision of poetry-laden lyrics and countercultural sensibilities with the attitude of rock 'n' roll and the template of classic country. Besides making waves with his own albums, he reached into our collective conscience through his songs' numerous covers, performed by artists like Janis Joplin ("Me and Bobby McGee") and Sammi Smith ("Help Me Make It Through the Night"). Before the '70s were over, his natural charisma and chiseled countenance had helped make him a movie star too, with films like Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore and A Star Is Born. Later he became a member of legendary supergroup The Highwaymen, alongside Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson. As the decades passed, Kristofferson has never backed away from his commitment to write and perform to the utmost of his abilities. He's a true-blue American legend.

  • Kris still makes my heart sing

by Anonymous on 1/9/18Palace of Fine Arts - San FranciscoRating: 5 out of 5

Even though his voice is even more "gravelly", he is an amazing performer. His charisma with the audience is very special. He was performing with the Meryl Haggard band - 3 pieces - whose guitarist and voice were excellent. I can definitely see he is slowing down and is more comfortable with other musicians - but he is 80! I've seen Kris many times over the past 30+ years and I would definitely see him again. And, I love this venue and wish there were more concerts there. I last saw Rickie Lee Jones there in the 80's.

Purchased 2 tickets for my mom and brother as a birthday present and they had such an incredible time that they'd never forget! Thank you Kris!

An absolute pleasure to see a master troubadour and American icon in an intamate setting. Kris was fantastic in his 90 minute set. The venue was terrific as well. Good food, great crowd and the staff was both friendly and professional. Looking forward to our next visit.

  • Kris and Friends

    by Lisa292929 on 11/10/17BOK Center - TulsaRating: 4 out of 5

This was a very good show with some very important reasons it came about. My sisters and I enjoyed it so much! Just to see Kris Kristofferson and Argo Guthrie live would have been enough. And add Shooter Jennings and Jamey Johnson into the mix and it made for a very great night! I didn’t much care for the religious music that Jessi Coulter now sings or the Branson style of Rita Coolidge, but there were enough folks there who liked that sort of thing and it made everyone happy.

  • The strangest concert ever...

    by Fawn16 on 11/9/17BOK Center - TulsaRating: 5 out of 5

This was a very weird concert. It was a benefit concert for a guy who was in jail for shooting 2 FBI agents back in the 70’s. The first 3 acts I had never heard of and set a strange mood for the rest of the concert. Jessi and Shooter were good, but we left after that. The speakers kept popping bad during each artists set, which was horrible. I would have been pissed if I was up on stage and that kept happening. I don’t need all the glitz and glam to a show, but you could tell it was obviously low budget. And for the names of people performing and how long they have been in the industry, I expected more/better. Anyway, my husband and I have fun with each other, but left because of the buzzkill weirdness...

  • Free Leonard Peltier

Great show. Thankful that we got to see such legendary artists and help an innocent man.

  • Kris Kristofferson w/friends at BOK was fantastic!

by SEAJAMS on 11/9/17BOK Center - TulsaRating: 5 out of 5

This was a benefit for Leonard Peltier and you can form your own opinion, but the lineup of Joe Ely, Rita Coolidge, Jellie Colter, Arlo Guthrie, Shooter Jennings, Kris Kristofferson and Jamie Johnson backed up by some great Tulsa musicians couldn't have made for a better night. This was my first time to the BOK, I can see why it is one of the top music venues in the country. Each of the artist had time to play some of their best tunes and visit with the audience a bit. What a night!

  • Free Leonard Peltier - Kris and Friends

by BestaLisa on 11/9/17BOK Center - TulsaRating: 5 out of 5

Kristofferson was at his best, as well as all his friends from Rita Coolidge to Shooter Jennings, Jessi Colter, Joe Ely, Arlo Guthrie, Peter Coyote, and more... .all to be summed up in a magical musical moment with Jamey Johnson and the the gang. The benefit lasted 4 hours and told the history of the injustices against the Native American people and specifically Leonard Peltier who has spent the last 40+ years in prison after being unlawfully and unjustly convicted. All proceeds went to his legal aide fund. All the artists performed their hearts out with one common goal - to give us a night we wouldn't soon forget, and raise awareness. As Kris would sing, "I want justice, but I'll settle for some mercy.....!"

  • Love Kris

This was the most amazing acoustic concert I have been to in along time. The venue was great.

  • Kristofferson is still the best!!!

by TXDeb58 on 10/23/17CHOCTAW CASINO RESORT - GRANT EVENT CENTER - GrantRating: 5 out of 5

At 81 years old, Kristofferson is still pleasing the audience with his infamous songs and some new fun ones too. He was great and with just him and a guitar, the concert was more intimate and fulfilling. I would go to see him everynight!!!

  • Kris Still The Greatest!

by TexMex627 on 10/23/17CHOCTAW CASINO RESORT - GRANT EVENT CENTER - GrantRating: 5 out of 5

He performed for 1/1/2 hours non stop, solo. Every song was fantastic. At 81 I don't see how he does it.

  • I love Kris Kristofferson!!

by Jeregirl on 10/23/17CHOCTAW CASINO RESORT - GRANT EVENT CENTER - GrantRating: 4 out of 5

I have always wanted to see him in concert. He was amazing!! Very professional. Came out at 8 pm on the dot and sang for 1 and a half hours with no break. Just him and his guitar. What more could you ask for?!

  • Amazing! A man, a guitar, the songs that I love.

by MimiMemo on 10/23/17CHOCTAW CASINO RESORT - GRANT EVENT CENTER - GrantRating: 5 out of 5

This was the most amazing concert I've ever attended, and I have been to many. I loved that I could listen to him sing without the distraction of a band or other singers. I just wanted to hear him and the songs that I love, and that is what I got.

  • Kris was wonderful.

As always Kris was great. I was disappointed because there was no merchandise to buy. I desperately want a Kris shirt.

  • Awesome

by LFAGRA on 10/23/17Grant, OK Casino Event Center - GrantRating: 5 out of 5

Have never before enjoyed such a wonderful totally acoustic show. "That man sang up every song he ever knew". Talk about a jam-packed show. Kris came on stage, said Hello and started singing and did not stop for over 1.25 hours. Well worth every penny I paid for the tickets. We saw Kris back in the 90s at Granny's Dinner Theatre in Dallas, Texas. There he had a full band and the show was good, but this show was wonderful.

  • Kristofferson was great.

by Anonymous on 10/23/17CHOCTAW CASINO RESORT - GRANT EVENT CENTER - GrantRating: 5 out of 5

He came out on stage alone, only with a harmonica and guitar. He sang multiple songs for the next hour and fifteen minutes. The words of his songs have deep meaning. He's no Elvis, but highly entertaining. We would go see him again.

  • Kristofferson ... what more can I say

by lejgraphics on 8/4/17Warner Theatre - WashingtonRating: 4 out of 5

I've seen Kris many times throughout the years, most notably w/ the Highwaymen. Kris is a class act w/ one of a kind songs and lyrics. I am grateful to see him again.
