Kodak Black In Concert

Florida rapper Kodak Black's rise continues apace. Released in December 2018, his second album, ‘Dying to Live,' shot to No. 1 on the Billboard charts, thanks in large part to the irresistible steel-drummed jam "ZEZE" (featuring Travis Scott and Migos' Offset) and the tropical-trap earworm "MoshPit" (with Juice WRLD). Kodak is hitting the road in 2019, supplementing his minimalist beats with live guitar and keyboards on a spring 2019 tour of small theaters and superclubs.

Kodak Black Background

Southern Florida has been at the forefront of the moody lo-fi hip-hop subgenre known as SoundCloud rap, and while Pompano Beach MC Kodak Black has skirted the peripheries of that scene, he's really a product of Instagram. The raspy-voiced, face-tattooed rapper born Dieuson Octave acquired the neighborhood nickname Lil Black as a kid growing up in the Golden Acres housing project, before adopting the Kodak Black moniker as his Instagram handle and stage name. In 2013, when he was just 16, Kodak released ‘Project Baby,' the first in a series of mixtapes that showcased his raw, lyrical perspective he came by honestly. His big break came in 2015, when, following the viral success of his freestyled single "No Flockin," he signed on with Atlantic Records, and his induction into hip-hop's upper echelons was further confirmed when Drake posted an Instagram video of himself dancing to Kodak's trap slow jam "Skrt." Kodak finally dropped his proper full-length debut, ‘Painting Pictures,' in 2017 – a star-studded effort (with guest spots by Young Thug, Future, and Jeezy) that debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard Top 200. A few months later, he released another mixtape, ‘Project Baby 2,' featuring "Roll in Peace," his hit collaboration with SoundCloud rap's reigning enfant terrible at the time, XXXTENTACION. But Kodak's most notable achievement of 2017 wasn't even his own track — Cardi B's world-beating smash single "Bodak Yellow" didn't just reference Kodak in its title, the entire song was built on his "No Flockin" flow.

Can Say I saw Him Live

    by B. D. on 2/25/23

Kodak was okay. Im a big fan and im glad I can say I saw him live. However, he spends more time dancing or messing around trying to lit up on stage then he does rapping. He sang all his top songs, but most people left during the start of concert. He doesn’t get the crowd involved or hyped at all, just kinda does his own thing (which is who he is, yes.) It was good to see him, but it wasn’t lit at all and there was no crowd energy.

Didn’t show up to the concert

    by Ash on 2/7/23

I went to the big show at the Joe and was mainly there to see kodak perform and he arrived as the venue was closing so he was denied a chance to perform. So disappointed. Come back to Detroit please!

    The Big Show at Detroit

    by j. s. on 2/1/23

The experience was disappointing. I didn’t, and nobody else even get to see Kodak. The main character’s I paid my money for was Kodak, and Future. Happy to say that, Future did an amazing show at the end, so it feels like money wasn’t too wasted. Still yet, I paid money to see Kodak, and not to be disappointed in my favorite rappers. Come back, actually put a good show on because I know you can, and stop being late!

    Thief’s and late show

by Ci on 1/10/23Crown Coliseum - Fayetteville

The show did not start until 10pm , the long wait was ridiculous! I like that the venue had local opening acts but there were entirely too many. The sound was very loud with no base gave me a head ache. The ticket prices weren’t worth the show I received . The main acts once they actually came out we’re good ! But the long wait was very annoying . The food was actually pretty good ! Peoples cars were broken into as well !

    The worst show ever

by Bri on 1/10/23Crown Coliseum - Fayetteville

Nothing was organized. It was a total waist of time and the main performers didn’t perform long enough.

    Way too many “friends”

    by R. T. on 1/8/23

So many random rappers that no one had ever heard of for the first two or three hours. Blue face and Chrisean came out for maybe five minutes, then Nardo for like ten. Kodak didn’t come out until midnight and stayed for 45 minutes. He was amazing but should have performed for way longer. The show started at 7…

    Disappointed

by Music Lover on 1/3/23Chaifetz Arena - St. Louis

I go to a lot of concerts and this was one of the worst. Mainly just DJ sets with repetitive guys on the mic. The rappers hardly rapped and just messed around on stage. It was so boring that most of the audience left during Kodak's set. I have never seen that happen. Save your money and go see a real show.

by Shaey on 1/2/23Chaifetz Arena - St. Louis

I loved the concert had a really great time! the only problem I had was paying $135 for floor tickets and had to stand the entire time smh if I would have known that I would have bought a cheaper ticket to have a seat.
