Kodak Black In Concert

Florida rapper Kodak Black's rise continues apace. Released in December 2018, his second album, ‘Dying to Live,' shot to No. 1 on the Billboard charts, thanks in large part to the irresistible steel-drummed jam "ZEZE" (featuring Travis Scott and Migos' Offset) and the tropical-trap earworm "MoshPit" (with Juice WRLD). Kodak is hitting the road in 2019, supplementing his minimalist beats with live guitar and keyboards on a spring 2019 tour of small theaters and superclubs.

Kodak Black Background

Southern Florida has been at the forefront of the moody lo-fi hip-hop subgenre known as SoundCloud rap, and while Pompano Beach MC Kodak Black has skirted the peripheries of that scene, he's really a product of Instagram. The raspy-voiced, face-tattooed rapper born Dieuson Octave acquired the neighborhood nickname Lil Black as a kid growing up in the Golden Acres housing project, before adopting the Kodak Black moniker as his Instagram handle and stage name. In 2013, when he was just 16, Kodak released ‘Project Baby,' the first in a series of mixtapes that showcased his raw, lyrical perspective he came by honestly. His big break came in 2015, when, following the viral success of his freestyled single "No Flockin," he signed on with Atlantic Records, and his induction into hip-hop's upper echelons was further confirmed when Drake posted an Instagram video of himself dancing to Kodak's trap slow jam "Skrt." Kodak finally dropped his proper full-length debut, ‘Painting Pictures,' in 2017 – a star-studded effort (with guest spots by Young Thug, Future, and Jeezy) that debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard Top 200. A few months later, he released another mixtape, ‘Project Baby 2,' featuring "Roll in Peace," his hit collaboration with SoundCloud rap's reigning enfant terrible at the time, XXXTENTACION. But Kodak's most notable achievement of 2017 wasn't even his own track — Cardi B's world-beating smash single "Bodak Yellow" didn't just reference Kodak in its title, the entire song was built on his "No Flockin" flow.

    Beyond Disappointing Performance

by C340 on 4/25/23Exactech Arena at the Stephen C. O'Connell Center - Gainesville

The was the worst concert I have ever been to. The entertainment company who put on the show should not be allowed to run a concert again. The DJ was horrendous, along with the sound systems. Kodak only performed for 30 minutes and was clearly out of it. He struggled to sing to his own songs and took a 5 minute break (in a 30 minute set), to take a smoke break with a random fan. Nardo Wick also clearly did not want to perform as he just stood there for 20 minutes and then abruptly left. After arriving 30 minutes after the concert started, we waited 3 hours until the first headliner performed. In between, some one name Bread YoYo and other random artists would come on stage for 10 minutes. Somehow, their lackluster performances were still better than listening to the DJ yell Duval into the mike.

    Delayed show

by Tired on 4/25/23Exactech Arena at the Stephen C. O'Connell Center - Gainesville

We waited hours for the show to start, everyone wasn’t in their correct seat. It seem like they were pulling any rappers that was not apart of the event out of the back to kill time oh and trying to pull any women out of the crowd to have a twerk contest to kill time

Worst concert I’ve ever been too

by UFstudent012 on 4/25/23Exactech Arena at the Stephen C. O'Connell Center - Gainesville

Concert started at 7 but Kodak didn’t show up til past 11. Played for about 30 mins and then turned the lights on and talked/took pictures with some people next to the stage. I’m a big Kodak fan but this was pretty disappointing.

    Terrible DO NOT BUY TICKETS

by Dylan on 4/25/23Exactech Arena at the Stephen C. O'Connell Center - Gainesville

The show started at 7:00 P.M. and Kodak did not show until about 11:30 P.M. 30 minutes after the venue was supposed to close. He did not even attempt to create an enjoyable show when he did arrive. If you want to throw away money, buy tickets to see Kodak live. Awful

    Unprofessionalism at its' finest

by Li on 4/25/23Exactech Arena at the Stephen C. O'Connell Center - Gainesville

I was terribly disappointed with the performance put on at this concert. Random performers filled up most of the concert. Kodak did not come on until 11 pm, and then barely sang. It seemed as if he just came to collect a check and dipped. Would not attend ever again.

Showed up very late (4 hours), only sung adlibs, not very entertaining, won't pay to see again.

    Not worth it

    by J. J. on 4/24/23

The concert was supposed to start at 7. We never saw Nardo Wick till after 10:30 and Kodak at almost 11. Before then there were a few local artists and the DJ playing a random assortment of songs. The place was dead after all the waiting. They tried to distract the crowd with some terrible “twerk contest”. Once Kodak did show he only did a handful of songs. I’m really disappointed.

    Never going back

    by Marissa on 4/23/23

We were ecstatic to have an artist that we loved come to our town. The event was supposed to start at 7 and the opener didn’t come on until 10:15 and ended at 10:30 and Kodak came on at 11 and ended at 11:35. Complete waste of time and money. He played the same song 3 times and barely actually sang it, he danced along to the background music the whole time. Very disappointing experience

    Not what I paid for

    by K. S. on 4/22/23

This was the he worst concert I’ve been to. The sound was too loud and echoing. The show started at 7pm and I didn’t see Kodak until almost 11pm. I didn’t pay to see 2 weak twerking contests. They literally played music from artists that weren’t even there more than I watched any performances. You his was more like a listening party more than a concert. The energy of the building was low. I felt like taking a nap!

    Wouldn't do it again

by Ki on 4/18/23Mississippi Coast Coliseum - Biloxi

The sets were short and all the songs were cut. Kodak didn't come on till late and when he did he did 4 songs and that was it. It was overall nothing amazing, wish it would've been better.

    Seating

by Bossmaynejoe on 4/18/23Mississippi Coast Coliseum - Biloxi

I felt like for the amount of money I spent I should have been able to sit in my seat that I purchased my ticket for, seating coordination was all over the place, no one seemed to be in their right seats, again I just felt I spent too much money for that to have even went on

Wasn’t there on time after waiting for hours I finally left. Everybody was great except Kodak and that’s the only reason I came from another state and was disappointed
