About

The boots are back! Kinky Boots will lift your spirits to high-heeled heights! Celebrated with six Tony Awards®, including Best Musical, a Grammy Award® for Best Musical Theatre Album, and London's Olivier Award for Best Musical, this big-hearted musical hit will have you strutting out of the theater saying "Yeah!"

Kinky Boots captivates and entertains audiences around the world with the dazzling Tony-winning score by pop legend Cyndi Lauper, hilarious and uplifting book by four-time Tony Award-winner Harvey Fierstein, and original direction and Tony-winning choreography by Jerry Mitchell.

Based on true events, Kinky Boots follows the journey of two people with nothing in common... or so they think. Charlie Price reluctantly inherits his father's shoe factory, which is on the verge of bankruptcy. Trying to live up to his father's legacy and save his family business, Charlie finds inspiration in the form of Lola, a fabulous entertainer in need of some sturdy stilettos. As Charlie and Lola work together to turn the factory around, this unlikely pair finds that they have more in common than they realized and discover that you change the world when you change your mind.

  • Great show....outstanding message.

by Timothy on 5/1/24Clarence Brown Theatre, Univ of Tennessee - KnoxvilleRating: 5 out of 5

The show and performers were great! And, the message content was very relevant and timely. The sound mixing for vocals on a couple of performers could have been improved making them easier to understand, but overall we really enjoyed the performance!

Took my crew. Unexpected and precious. Cyndi Lauper nails it again.

  • Good but…..

by Luvinjazz on 4/27/24Clarence Brown Theatre, Univ of Tennessee - KnoxvilleRating: 4 out of 5

I have seen the movie, and have seen the play 6 years ago in Chicago. While I really enjoyed the show each time, it seems that it was more overtly sexual in this version. Maybe it’s just the cast members showing their personality or maybe that is the direction the director took. However there are still the same lessons to learn and I especially enjoyed the entire cast dancing at the end.

  • Way Beyond Expectations

by Bob on 4/26/24Clarence Brown Theatre, Univ of Tennessee - KnoxvilleRating: 5 out of 5

Kinky Boots at the Clarence Brown Theater was, simply put, a wonderful production. The cast was excellent across the board. The music, by Cyndi Lauper, was delightful. The set, choreography, and story itself were all great. We loved it!

  • This Cast is Special

by Volmanbobby on 4/22/24Clarence Brown Theatre, Univ of Tennessee - KnoxvilleRating: 5 out of 5

We went opening night at Clarence Brown. We've seen Kinky Boots a few times and the play is great. This cast sent it through the roof. All were perfectly cast and played their roles perfectly. I highly suggest you find tickets and go. We'll be watching for this young troup to do some amazing work.

  • Kinky Boots - A Resounding Hit

by A.Fan on 4/22/24Clarence Brown Theatre, Univ of Tennessee - KnoxvilleRating: 5 out of 5

I have been to plays in Knoxville, Nashville and New York. This production ranks in the top 3 I've ever seen. The choreography and music were superb. The cast did a phenomenal job. The message of accepting others has never been more timely. Many thanks to all who participated in bringing Kinky Boots to Knoxville.

  • A great value for the money!

I have seen the production on Broadway and the energy was just as good with this show!

  • Never fails to entertain. Wonderful play

by Play addict on 4/20/24Clarence Brown Theatre, Univ of Tennessee - KnoxvilleRating: 5 out of 5

The play was wonderful, excellent performance! Parking and detours to venue a bit sketchy, concessions non existent. Tiny bag of pre-poped "Proper"popcorn the size of a coke can for $4. Worse popcorn ever. .

  • Toby's return

by Tommyg67 on 3/15/20Toby's Dinner Theatre Columbia - ColumbiaRating: 5 out of 5

Lots of good food. Friendly staff, cast. Visiting from Illinois. 37 years ago, saw Joseph an the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat as a 4-H'r. So impressed then, had to return with my wife. Equally as impressed by the cast of Kinky Boots. A highlight of our vacation.

  • Fantastic!!!!!

by Nancy on 3/4/20Toby's Dinner Theatre Columbia - ColumbiaRating: 5 out of 5

Way beyond expectations- the meal, the service ( love that the waiters are the actors!) and the show. I was expecting typical community theater, but this was AMAZING!!! Being so close to the action, seeing the actors up close you almost become part of the show. Our seats were great, don't think there are bad seats in this venue. Our only negative is that there is one ladies room with a few stalls- don''t know how they could add more, and it is a little tight with the seating- it would lose profits but a few less seats or tables would be helpful- our show had a lot of older folks with walkers, oxygen tanks, which do take up space. Can't wait to return here- we have gone to Baltimore for shows, but parking is a headache and expensive- just get off the highway and drive right up here!! Hassle free

  • Incredible!!!

  • Fun show!!

by Socaqueenz on 2/21/20Toby's Dinner Theatre Columbia - ColumbiaRating: 4 out of 5

The show was fabulous, very entertaining for me and my kids, only complaint is the food mostly mediocre. It's very personal having a chance to meet the cast after the show and interacting with them throughout.

  • Toby’s + Kinky Boots = Amazing

by Jen on 2/18/20Toby's Dinner Theatre Columbia - ColumbiaRating: 5 out of 5

Everything was awesome: from the history, the host, the dinner atmosphere, to the production. I cannot believe how hardworking the actors are - to wait tables before the show and during intermission is completely mind boggling. And Kinky Boots is a total must see. That was my first time at Toby’s and the experience totally surpassed my expectations.

by Deb on 2/14/20Toby's Dinner Theatre Columbia - ColumbiaRating: 5 out of 5

I had been wanting to see Kinky Boots for a long time and was not disappointed by the performance at Tobys. All of the actors/singers were wonderful especially the gentleman that played Lola. If you get a chance, please go see the performance. You will love it.

  • Good show

    by r. m. on 2/5/20Toby's Dinner Theatre Columbia - ColumbiaRating: 4 out of 5

Enjoyed the show. Didn't expect to be sitting with another couple, but they turned out to be ok. I liked how they had a gentleman go down the line taking info and giving us our table numbers, etc. The food was pretty good. Wish there were for Gluten Free options in dinner and desert. The show was great to watch, had a good moral to the story about acceptence. My girlfriend and I enjoyed the experience. Will be back again.

  • Great Show! Great cast!

by Wttygrl on 7/2/19Majestic Theatre San Antonio - San AntonioRating: 5 out of 5

I really didn’t know the story behind this show, only that several big names had played the lead roles and Cyndi Lauper was part of the creation. The music is awesome and I think the cast was Broadway quality for sure. Loved the show. No slow spots. The time flew by.
