KIDS IN THE HALL LIVE:

Canadian comedy troupe Kids In the Hall thrilled fans when they turned their popular sketch sitcom into a full-blown comedy tour. Whether they're playing out their signature skits in drag or impersonating Queen Elizabeth II, the five jokesters consistently have aidoemces doubled-over in hysterics during their live performances. Back on tour, the uncanny quintet will treat ticket buyers to their quirky antics as they hit the road for a string of highly anticipated shows.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Kids In the Hall have had a long-standing run in Canada's comedy  scene, first forming in the early '80s but moving on to solo pursuits shortly after. It wasn't until their 1986 reunion when they realized their potential as a troupe -- SNL creator Lorne Michaels also noticed their on-stage chemistry, and the idea for a comedy show was born. They made their television debut in 1989, enjoying a successful six-season run and earning a Golden Rose Award (Rose d'Or). Since the show's finale, Kids In the Hall members have developed a major cult following, acting out recurring themes on tour and performing sketch situations in their hit film Brain Candy.Back on the road, Kids In the Hall head out on a number of tour dates, treating ticket buyers to their classic skits alongside new material.

    Hysterical as Always

by WhinyMcGee on 6/9/14Wilbur Theatre - Boston

It's always great to see the five members of Kids In the Hall together, and it seemed like they were enjoying themselves as well. I appreciated that they had new material they seemed to be trying out, which is always hit and miss, but even when something went wrong, it was quite funny to watch (which I think is a testament to how talented they are). They also threw in a couple of classic skits and characters as well. I know some people will probably complain that they didn't use more of the well-known material, but it's promising to see them working together again.

Kids In The Hall are Rusty but Ready!

by PinkyD1965 on 5/1/14Majestic Theatre Dallas - Dallas

Like the tour shirts said "Rusty but Ready", there were some flubbed lines, missed cues and blocking problems, and I felt like I was at a dress rehearsal. Some favorite characters- Sir Simon Milligan and Hecubus, Chicken Lady, Gavin; Some new skits- 5 Men in Wedding Dresses, Brokeback Double Date, Blueberry Pie... I'm so glad I went. If you're a fan of KITH, you must attend. The guys looked like they were having fun, really enjoying themselves on stage. This was my 3rd time for a live show, and worth every penny! I hope they come back to the states so my friends can see them, tool. The show was slightly ruined by the ushers having to constantly tell morons to stop recording the show. Why these creeps weren't ejected is beyond me, because there were several repeat offenders.

The Kids were very funny and I really had a good time. I hadn't seen the show before (although I did watch their movie), so it was all new to me. Highly recommended!

    KITH 2014

by Starlatte on 4/30/14Majestic Theatre Dallas - Dallas

I laughed, I snorted, I may have peed my pants from laughing so hard. Welcome back Kids!!! The lady to my right stank of body odor. The giant head of the man in front of me blocked my view. My date and I moved 2 rows up as there were plenty of empty seats behind us, and all the problems were gone. Once the unplesantness of my seat was exchanged for a less stinky, less blocked one, I was beyond happy. The show seemed to fly by and was brilliant, as expected.

    Kids are alright

Funny show, lots of laughs. Opening wedding dress scene was the best by far. Absolutely side splitting!

    Exactly what you wanted!

by Hetfield on 4/30/14Majestic Theatre Dallas - Dallas

KITH is awesome, we all know that. Well this tour is perfect. A mix of a few new things coupled with verbatim classics. If you are a KITH fan, you will love it. My only criticism was that it could have been longer. It seemed to go by too fast. Manservant Hecubus!

    Meh.

by Strict on 4/28/14The Majestic Theater - Dallas

I wouldn't say that I got my money's worth. They were on stage a little over an hour, and didn't bring back many of their best characters. If you think gay jokes are the epitome of humor, then this show might be for you, since 90% of the comedy revolved around this subject. Kevin McDonald and Bruce McKullogh were giving it 100%, Scott Thompson around 75%, and Dave Foley and Mark McKinney (especially) were just phoning it in. Scott Thompson's "Buddy" monologue was the highlight of the show. That character is still charming and sharp. Would have liked to have seen "The Kathys" or "Cabbage Head", but oh well. Also, it seemed as if a lot of this show was meant to be improv. Improv can work in a more intimate venue; the Majestic Theater was too large a stage to have almost no props or sets. Also, the forgetting of lines and the silliness of some of the staging was funny once or twice. For such a short show, it seems as if they could have it 'together' a little bit better. I will pass next time, but am glad I can say I saw them live once. Just wish I had paid a little less money.

    Great Show

by Barnabus76 on 3/6/12North Charleston Performing Art Center - North Charleston

This was a great show. I remember watching them on TV when they were on the air. These guys are so funny. The brought back the characters that you remember! During the show there was a big mishap, however the guys played right into the show the problem, and made it all the more funnier.

Kids In The Hall Better In Person

by Ravendon on 5/21/10Barrymore Theatre - Madison

This was my first time seeing Kids In The Hall Live. It blew my mind. They were spot on with their cutting edge humor. It was a nice mix of new material and some classics from their tv show.
