Khruangbin is a three-piece band from Houston, Texas, formed in 2009 with Laura Lee on bass, Mark Speer on guitar and Donald Johnson on drums. Taking influence from 1960's Thai funk - their name literally translates to "Engine Fly" in Thai - Khruangbin is steeped in the bass heavy, psychedelic sound of their inspiration, Tarantino soundtracks and surf-rock cool. By the summer of 2019, the trio had been on tour for nearly three-and-a-half years, playing to audiences across North and South America, Europe, and southeast Asia behind its acclaimed albums The Universe Smiles Upon You, Con Todo El Mundo, and Mordechai. Garnering glowing praise from The New York Times, W Magazine, Billboard, The Los Angeles Times, The FADER, Khruangbin released their very first remix album, Mordechai Remixes, on Dead Oceans, in association with Night Time Stories, Ltd in 2021. Each remixer on Mordechai Remixes has a musical or cosmic connection to Khruangbin and remixers included Kadhja Bonet, Ginger Root, Knxwledge, Natasha Diggs, Soul Clap, Quantic, Felix Dickinson, Ron Trent, Mang Dynasty, Harvey Sutherland. Khruangbin worked with Grammy-winning R&B singer/songwriter Leon Bridges, from Ft. Worth, for two groundbreaking collaborative EPs, Texas Sun & Texas Moon. Further extending the lone star state's sonic possibilities, the sister EPs pensively examines Texas' musical perception, while paying homage to the marriage of country and R&B that's become synonymous with the region.
The concert was amazing, the vibes were immaculate.
The opening act, Men I Trust, put on a great show. Brought the energy of the crowd up so when Khruangbin took the stage - it was all lit off. They sounded great, engaged with the crowd, played a variety of their catalog. This being the first live show I've seen in years, I was extremely happy they put all that effort into making it a great night.
Men I Trust opened for them and they are a new group for me and I instantly fell in love. Khruangbin also blew me away with the simplicity of their gorgeous set, the immediate dive into music, the overall atmostphere (Berkeley crowd was amazing!). They sound just as amazing as their albums but with the added flare of mixes they throw into their songs. I was so pleasantly surprised with EVERYTHING.
Human words cannot fully express the impact of their performance.
Friendly staff, reasonable lines, clean venue and well run - show started right on time.
Both bands were great had great music and light show. Both bands sounded the same as their albums. Great experiance
They were amazing live. Literally could’ve only been perfect if I get the chance to see them with Leon Bridges. That would mean the world
This was our second time seeing Khruangbin live and their time on the road has only sharpened their otherworldly presentation and performance. Smooth, funky, surprising, fun, and sexy—and all at the same time! Their funk/hip hop/soul medley covers are our personal faves! A+, nine trillion stars, etcetera!!
Great set and environment. They really added a lot of jams to their songs that weren’t played when I saw them last. Amazing venue also.
I've been a fan of theirs for years, but this was my first time seeing them live. I was a bit skeptical that they'd manage to keep up that energy for a big venue. Glad to have been wrong! They filled the place with such an intensely chill vibe that everyone could feel. The lighting was perfect. They didn't have to do any fancy theatrics; just walk around and play beautifully together. Mark Speer is a true Guitar God. He walks around barefoot and makes it all look so effortless. One of the highlights was the medley of early 90s R&B. I don't understand how they can do time changes so well! I'm a musician but can't imagine doing those so seamlessly. Can't wait to see them again !
friends convinced me at 11 am on the day of to drive 7 hours (minimum) to boise idaho to make the 7 pm showtime… SO SO SO WORTH IT! Id only heard like two Khruangbin songs before hand and now consider myself a huge fan. Mark moves like he’s from another universe; Laura lee oozes swag; and DJ provided the best which kept me moving and grooving all night long. The Idaho botanical gardens is a sick venue and the sunset was beautiful. might go see them again in connecticut in a few weeks just because of how amazing this show was! #LongLiveKhruangbin
Khruangbin puts on a damn good show and the Greek Theater is an awesome venue.
I bought the tics so long ago that forgot I even purchased them. I wish/hope ticket master would send notification reminding me of my up coming show. It’s 100% on me. Yes. I’m super bummed. Ticket master, please text me a reminder next time.. Getting old sucks!
AMAZING. I just want to relive their show over and over and over again. Didn’t think I could love them more- I was wrong💖
One of the best concerts I’ve ever been to and one of my favorite venues!! Mark ripped it on the guitar, DJ rocked the drums, and Leezy was a boss on the bass!
An incredible performance by Khruangbin!!! Loved all the additional covers they did as well! Would LOVE to see them again at the Greek theatre in berkeley!
The experience of seeing Khruangbin reconfigured every cell in my body. BEST EVER
Wow, what an incredible concert experience. Khruangbin was absolutely phenomenal live and had great stage presence. I could tell that they were extremely well rehearsed because every transition, choreography move, and overall band chemistry was 100% on point. The whole band is super talented but Laura absolutely stole the show. She even had an outfit change mid show! The highlight of the set was their covers song, where they played bits and pieces of a bunch of good songs in one, seamless song. My only regret (other than paying for $75 worth of two glasses of overpriced wine) was that I didn't see them both dates. Will definitely look forward to seeing them again. 10/10 overall experience
Khruangbin is incredible. These guys never stopped playing their entire time on stage. Even during introductions they kept a beat going. I felt like I fell into a trance like state and I loved every minute of it.
Men I Trust opened and sounded fantastic. Great sound at the venue and the band has super lush grooves. Then Khruangbin opened and it only got better. Great sound, amazing light show, stage performances, overall amazing. A little tricky to get to the venue, but what can you do?
