One of the best songwriters ever. If you have a chance to see him solo, however, it is a much better experience. He's also a very nice guy if you get to meet him. If you like Manchester Orchestra and the like, GO SEE KEVIN DEVINE!
I've seen Kevin Devine a few times previously, but this was definitely my favorite show of his. He played most of my favorites, while interacting with the crowd here and there. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing him again.
This show was a lot of fun. The music sounded great and the room had a really relaxed feel to it. Musicians from other bands were frequently up on stage playing with the other bands on the bill. Kevin was really great! He puts a lot of energy and emotion in to his live shows that make them really enjoyable. Great in between-song-banter is always another plus at Kevin's shows because he has great stories to tell.
No disrespect to Kevin Devin, but I attended this show to see Miniature Tigers! My first experience seeing these guys was back in March at the Prophet Bar in Dallas, and from the moment they started playing that night, I was immediately a fan. Not to mention, they are some of the nicest, and most fun guys you will ever meet! The show at the Loft was no different! They played a great mix of older songs as well as new, and their live sound was fantastic! I would definitely recommend them to anyone! You can pick up their album, Tell It To The Volcano, on iTunes, and if they are ever in your area while on tour, don't think twice about going to see them, you won't be disappointed!
Kevin has a passion for music along with an incomparable work ethic towards creating the best possible work of art he can. His lyrics are incredible along with amazing guitar playing that involves strum patterns as well as much more complex picking, often sounding as if two guitars are playing from just his one.
