About

KENNY WAYNE SHEPHERD IN CONCERT:

Guitar god Kenny Wayne Shepherd is one of the fiercest young axmen of his generation, and he continues to blow audiences away every time he takes the stage. The self-taught virtuoso is a sight to behold in concert, where his furious fingers and flailing blonde locks serve as the perfect counterpoint to the precision and ease of his razor-sharp riffs. Whether he's playing bluesy originals from 2014's Goin' Home or covering legends like Bob Dylan and Jimi Hendrix, Shepherd always treats fans to electrifying performances that are as heavy on pure gusto as they are on musical chops.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Shreveport, Louisiana-born Kenny Wayne Shepherd got his first guitar in early childhood and began learning the instrument with a unique self-taught method. He was quickly recognized as a guitar prodigy, and at age 13 he was invited to play on stage with blues icon Bryan Lee. His first performance at the Red River Revel Arts Festival in Shreveport attracted the eye of label execs, and before long Shepherd had signed a multiple record deal with Giant Records. His 1995 debut album Leadbetter Heights topped the blues chart, a feat he repeated with five subsequent albums including his 1997 sophomore album Trouble Is... -- the longest-running album on the Billboard Blues Chart in history.  In 2014 Shepherd released his seventh studio album Goin' Home, another chart-topper that has fans eagerly awaiting his next must-see series of tour dates.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"I have seen Kenny Wayne numerous times and this was his best show yet. See him if you can!"

"Awesome show!!! Would definitely pay to see them again! He punished that guitar!"

"Kenny Wayne Shepherd and his band rocked the blues. What great musicians. His closing act of Jimmy Hendrix's 'Voodoo Child' was awesome."

  • OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE

    by Swiftylou on 9/12/10Snoqualmie Casino-Ballroom - SnoqualmieRating: 5 out of 5

I went to see this show with a friend. I have been listening to KWS since 96 or 97, anyway, since he was just a kid still in High School. I supected that we were in for a really good time, with great music and lots of fun. I was absolutely blown away after the first song, and no one could wipe the smile off my face for the remainder of the evening. My friend and I both saw an amazingl guitar player, and the rest of the band was just as stellar. It ws very obvious that Kenny Wayne not only plays the music, but he feels it in his soul. His stage presence is one of a humble man, who has been blessed with a great gift, and wants to share it with anyone who wants to be enlightened. His tribute to Stevie Ray Vaughn brought tears to my eyes, it was so tender and heartfelt. The blues will live on much longer, and hopefully gain new fans and respect, thanks to Kenny Wayne Sheperd and his band. And that makes me very happy.

Took my father, we were front row, center stage. Best show I've been to in a long time! Kenny and Noah really keep you in the show! You can see their passion for the music and the crowd through every song and motion! I'm from Jersey, and I lived in Louisiana for sometime, this was the first time I was able to go see the band. I will for sure see them every time they are around from now on!

90 minute show...........What an excellent guitarist!!!!! You can tell he has learned from the great blues guitarist's of the past. This is the second time I have seen him live and he has not lost his touch. I hope to see him again some day. He has a new album coming out soon, can't wait to hear it.

This is the second time we say Kenny Wayne Shepherd - he was part of the Hendrix Experience Tour in 2008. We thought he played a bit better there, maybe because he had a bigger crowd. I never got to see Stevie Ray Vaughn, and I'n not saying that Kenny Wayne is as good as he was, but he comes in a VERY close second!

by Anonymous on 11/23/09Rams Head Live! - BaltimoreRating: 5 out of 5

this is the best show I've seen in a long time. The small venue made the musicians visible from any location in the club. You should see this band if you can.

  • Not too shabby

    by tgtcat6 on 11/23/09OMNI - ToledoRating: 4 out of 5

I wasn't expecting much because these guys haven't released a CD in a long time, but they still put on a pretty good show. Noah left the stage pretty often to go who knows where, but lets's be honest, the focus of everyone anyway is Kenny.

  • Kenny Wayne Shepherd was phenominal

by gpassine on 11/23/09Bears Den At Seneca Niagara Casino & Hotel - Niagara FallsRating: 5 out of 5

I have seen KWS Band 3 times now and they just seem to get better and better. The intimate setting at the Bear's den in Seneca Niagara Casino made it even more impressive. The seats were perfect, the acoustics were great and the performance was unbelievable. From the two instrumentals Kenny began with to his first single ever, "Deja Voodoo" right up to Hendrix's "Voodoo Child" Every note, every vocal, it was all amazingly tight.

  • Kenny Wayne is a guitar god

by DebbiK on 11/23/09Bears Den At Seneca Niagara Casino & Hotel - Niagara FallsRating: 5 out of 5

This was a fantastic show. In a small intimate setting as this you can get to the root of his great guitar playing. Noah is a great vocalist also and with the entire band in such sinc what a night it was. Anyone who like great guitar playing not just so so should definitely go and see kenny wayne .
