About

KENNY WAYNE SHEPHERD IN CONCERT:

Guitar god Kenny Wayne Shepherd is one of the fiercest young axmen of his generation, and he continues to blow audiences away every time he takes the stage. The self-taught virtuoso is a sight to behold in concert, where his furious fingers and flailing blonde locks serve as the perfect counterpoint to the precision and ease of his razor-sharp riffs. Whether he's playing bluesy originals from 2014's Goin' Home or covering legends like Bob Dylan and Jimi Hendrix, Shepherd always treats fans to electrifying performances that are as heavy on pure gusto as they are on musical chops.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Shreveport, Louisiana-born Kenny Wayne Shepherd got his first guitar in early childhood and began learning the instrument with a unique self-taught method. He was quickly recognized as a guitar prodigy, and at age 13 he was invited to play on stage with blues icon Bryan Lee. His first performance at the Red River Revel Arts Festival in Shreveport attracted the eye of label execs, and before long Shepherd had signed a multiple record deal with Giant Records. His 1995 debut album Leadbetter Heights topped the blues chart, a feat he repeated with five subsequent albums including his 1997 sophomore album Trouble Is... -- the longest-running album on the Billboard Blues Chart in history.  In 2014 Shepherd released his seventh studio album Goin' Home, another chart-topper that has fans eagerly awaiting his next must-see series of tour dates.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"I have seen Kenny Wayne numerous times and this was his best show yet. See him if you can!"

"Awesome show!!! Would definitely pay to see them again! He punished that guitar!"

"Kenny Wayne Shepherd and his band rocked the blues. What great musicians. His closing act of Jimmy Hendrix's 'Voodoo Child' was awesome."

  • Best...Show...EVERRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!

    by Bananna116 on 12/12/10BB King's - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

What can I say...if you haven't seen Kenny Wayne live, you haven't lived!!! It was just an incredible experience from beginning to end (which I was hoping would never come). He's one of the most talented musicians that ever lived, and as if that's not enough, he also has amazing stage presence. The band performs incredibly well together, the crowd is always energetic and really into the show (I've seen him 3 times so far), and the music is just incredible, as any fan of theirs knows. This is definitely in the top 3 of the best shows I've ever been to. It's not flashy, it's not frilly, and it's not high tech...and it's just perfect the way it is because it's about the music and about the talent. So if you want your world rocked and your life changed, see one of his shows. I know I plan on seeing him every time he's within a 100 mile radius of where I live. It's worth it.

  • one of the best I've ever seen!

    by jenn2011 on 10/20/10The Canyon - Agoura HillsRating: 5 out of 5

I was the "one" from Ventura requesting Kenny Wayne for over this last year. So, I was thrilled when he finally made an appearance in my area. All I can say is - oh my God-that kid can play a guitar!!!! I was a little disappointed they didn't play "Deja Vodoo" or "Born with a broken heart" but what they did was UNBELIEVABLY GREAT! The lead singer was incredible and (of course) Kenny Wayne was all over it- so-so good!!! Thank you!

  • Blues that Rocks your Soul!

by dreamdancer on 10/20/10The Canyon - Agoura HillsRating: 5 out of 5

Kenny Wayne Shepherd and his awesome band at The Canyon was one of the best concerts of my life! And the best show I've seen in 10 years or so. I'm still vibrating several days later! I am SO glad I found out he was going to be playing locally and paid the price which turns out to be priceless. I was especially impressed with vocalist, Noah Hunt, who has excellent stage presence and audience connection - in addition to belting out the best lyrics of any blues band anywhere. What a blessing that these two artists have paired up to deliver unbridled emotion, with talented musicians to back them all the way. Thank You!

2 hours was not long enough. I hate to say this because I LOVE Kenny Wayne...What a guitar! 1 of the BEST on the Planet! But Paul McCartney rocked us at the HWB for 4 hours and he's in his 60s, so I think Kenny could have given us at least another hour of his incredible music. Maybe it was some restriction at the venue, but I wanted more.

  • KWS Band is the best live band ever!

    by shepfin on 9/16/10Snoqualmie Casino-Ballroom - SnoqualmieRating: 5 out of 5

When you hope the band plays at least as well as they record their music, the bar is set too low for the KWS Band. Their live show blew me away! I came across the country to hear them perform and can't wait to hear them again. Live is absolutely best and anyone considering going after seeing the videos and listening to the cds will be absolutely amazed. Still smiling remembering their version of "King Bee"! A stomping good time was had by all. I visited the Hendrix Experience museum earlier in the day in Seattle and it only primed the pump for for the concert- Jimi lives in Kenny Wayne Shepherd.

  • KWS in SnoCas Ball Room

    by gonzo66 on 9/14/10Snoqualmie Casino-Ballroom - SnoqualmieRating: 4 out of 5

I have seen KWS many times and he and his band always puts on a great show! I am not a gambler and really don't enjoy the casino vibe. If this had been at the Showbox like last year I would have given it 5 Stars.

  • Kenny Wayne can play

    by kennyfan369 on 9/14/10Snoqualmie Casino-Ballroom - SnoqualmieRating: 4 out of 5

Watched Kenny Wayne Shepherd at the Snoqualmie Queen Casino Friday. He is very talented. It was my first time at this venue and I don't think the acoustics are very good. The show was too short. That being said, he and Noah are amazing!

Exceptional performance....Connection with the audience was established from the very first note. Accomplished, professional, prepared, and incredible. Engages the audience, and obviously appreciates their loyalty and adoration...His sensitivity to the fan is admirable. Amazing artist...Gifted and exceeds expectations....I traveled from Alaska to Seattle to see him, and I am glad I did...A shame to miss this one. Exceptional....

Great show. KWS put on a great performance. He was definitely influenced by Stevie Ray Vaughn and Hendrix.

  • Kenny Wayne Rocks Snoqualmie

    by Kazan on 9/13/10Snoqualmie Casino-Ballroom - SnoqualmieRating: 5 out of 5

Great Show. Band was tight...could have used a little more volume for the keyboard. Snoqualmie Casino is a nice venue...small, up close and personal. All in all... These guys rock!!

  • Kenny Wayne rocked the house!

    by TheBlood on 9/13/10Snoqualmie Casino-Ballroom - SnoqualmieRating: 5 out of 5

KWS put on a great show at the Snoqualmie casino - the band was really feeling it. Nice tight 2 hour set, so glad they came back to see us here in the Seattle area. Seen them 3 times in a year, Blues Cruise last October, then Jazzfest in May, and now this show. Whoo hoo!

  • KWS does not disappoint

    by Speden on 9/13/10Snoqualmie Casino-Ballroom - SnoqualmieRating: 5 out of 5

I will see him over and over again. One of the best guitarist going. Noah is also on his game. The rest of the band is always good, but make no mistake, KWS just keeps getting better and better. My only knock is reserved seating. Like the Showbox more, were the people who want to dance don't feel like they are blocking someones view.

  • KWS - Shocking Talent!

    by muuzikfan on 9/12/10Snoqualmie Casino-Ballroom - SnoqualmieRating: 5 out of 5

Well...I'm a die hard live music fan. Have over 900 ticket stubs to prove it (those are the ones I managed not to lose.) I have seen many of the 100 greatests blue's guitarists (except SRV & Hendrix) ever, including Eric, Sonny Landreth, Jeff Beck, Mike Campbell, BB, Albert King, Buddy Guy, John L. Hooker, Johnny Winter, Duane Almond, Dicky Betts, Robert Cray, Jimmy Vaughn, Robben Ford, Taj Mahal, Keb Mo, Albert Collins, Robin Trower, Bonnie Raitt, Elvin Bishop, Lowell George, Alvin Lee, Guitar Slim, Johnny Lang, Derek Trucks, George Thorogood, Guitar Shorty and on and on. I would put this guy in the (my) top 10 current favorites. I will see him again when able.

  • KWS at Snoqualmie

    by mothership1 on 9/12/10Snoqualmie Casino-Ballroom - SnoqualmieRating: 2 out of 5

Excellent music but very poor sound. Sound levels were pushed beyond sound system's capability.

  • Kenny & Band Rocked

    by SFbluesBoomer on 9/12/10Snoqualmie Casino-Ballroom - SnoqualmieRating: 4 out of 5

Kenny, Noah and the band were absolutely excellent. Good engagement with the audience. Very nice mix of blues standards to Hendrix. The ballroom had some issues. The seat rows were spaced so close up front (we were in row 6) that people almost couldn't get by even with folks standing. The sound system needs some improvement - the speakers were poping and distorting a bit on the louder segments.

  • Kenny Wayne ROCKED

    by In2details on 9/12/10Snoqualmie Casino-Ballroom - SnoqualmieRating: 5 out of 5

Off the charts is what Kenny Wayne's playing is all about. We drive three hours to see him and would do it again. He plays with such ease and intensity. Looking forward to the new alblum and seeing him again live. I really appreciate the tribute and respect he has for the original blues people and greats like Hendrix. Thanks Kenny!
