KENNY WAYNE SHEPHERD IN CONCERT:

Guitar god Kenny Wayne Shepherd is one of the fiercest young axmen of his generation, and he continues to blow audiences away every time he takes the stage. The self-taught virtuoso is a sight to behold in concert, where his furious fingers and flailing blonde locks serve as the perfect counterpoint to the precision and ease of his razor-sharp riffs. Whether he's playing bluesy originals from 2014's Goin' Home or covering legends like Bob Dylan and Jimi Hendrix, Shepherd always treats fans to electrifying performances that are as heavy on pure gusto as they are on musical chops.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Shreveport, Louisiana-born Kenny Wayne Shepherd got his first guitar in early childhood and began learning the instrument with a unique self-taught method. He was quickly recognized as a guitar prodigy, and at age 13 he was invited to play on stage with blues icon Bryan Lee. His first performance at the Red River Revel Arts Festival in Shreveport attracted the eye of label execs, and before long Shepherd had signed a multiple record deal with Giant Records. His 1995 debut album Leadbetter Heights topped the blues chart, a feat he repeated with five subsequent albums including his 1997 sophomore album Trouble Is... -- the longest-running album on the Billboard Blues Chart in history.  In 2014 Shepherd released his seventh studio album Goin' Home, another chart-topper that has fans eagerly awaiting his next must-see series of tour dates.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"I have seen Kenny Wayne numerous times and this was his best show yet. See him if you can!"

"Awesome show!!! Would definitely pay to see them again! He punished that guitar!"

"Kenny Wayne Shepherd and his band rocked the blues. What great musicians. His closing act of Jimmy Hendrix's 'Voodoo Child' was awesome."

  • A very enjoyable show!

by GrampaLou54 on 5/5/25Templelive Fort Smith - Fort SmithRating: 5 out of 5

We bought tickets weeks in advance to see Kenny Wayne Shepherd and Bobby Rush at TempleLive in Ft. Smith. My greatest complaint is that when we arrived, 30 minutes before showtime, there was a line of people down the block waiting to get in. The line was moving extremely slowly, because there was only ONE GUY with a metal detector wand scanning everyone before they could get in the door. THEN, once inside, there was another line, also moving slowly, checking IDs for an armband to allow liquor purchase. Both of these processes were woefully understaffed. Also, when the lights went out and show started, there were still people coming in looking for their seats, but no ushers to assist them. Folks were climbing over one another, lost and scratching their heads about where they should be, causing seated patrons to become annoyed. Some of the lights that are supposed to illuminate the steps in the Balcony “Section F” were not working, and we saw several people miss a step and nearly fall down the steps. Luckily no one got hurt. The SHOW was great..! The venue maintenance and staffing could use improvement.

  • Loved the music, disappointed in the venue

by Music fan on 5/4/25Templelive Fort Smith - Fort SmithRating: 3 out of 5

Music was great. However, the venue staff failed to control a section of drunks. Their standing for several songs at a time kept us from seeing the performers. Then 2 of the drunks got into a fight near us. They removed those 2 but did nothing to help us see the stage.

  • What are the best artist you can see live

by AvidMusicfan on 5/4/25Templelive Fort Smith - Fort SmithRating: 5 out of 5

Kenny Wayne Shepherd is one of my favorite artists. We have been following him since he was 21 years old. I try to see him every chance I get. I was much appreciative of his collaboration with Bobby Rush. It was a very moving concert and we enjoyed the show. I’ve already bought tickets to see him in Hot springs

  • Awesome Concert

First time to see Kenny Wayne Shepherd - he is truly amazing - so much talent like Stevie Ray Vaughn. Hope to see him & his band again! It was a treat to see Bobby Rush again - he puts on fun a show!

  • Live blues Kenny Wayne Shepherd

by Dude on 5/4/25Templelive Fort Smith - Fort SmithRating: 5 out of 5

Great concert !! First time I’ve seen him live!!! This particular venue is very old and conducive for fans in wheelchairs…but we got her in there and we had a great time. I would suggest more modern venue.

  • Two living legends

by Blues Bub on 5/4/25Templelive Fort Smith - Fort SmithRating: 5 out of 5

I love Kenny Wayne Shepherd because he’s of course excellent but he does not have a big head. He’s so humble. We saw him with Bobby Rush and of course Bobby Rush is the living legend and Kenny Wayne just played the guitar for Bobby. It was a great show and of course on the Kenny Wayne Shepherd band came on they rocked.

  • Great venue and an even greater show!

  • Best concert I ever went to!!!

by Summer Thyme on 4/29/25Prairie Home Alliance Theater - PeoriaRating: 5 out of 5

First of all, I didn’t know that much about the Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band, but the day before the concert our local news station did a great segment on the band and I was immediately hooked on their music! So I bought tickets and Saturday evening we went to see them play and were blown away. The opening part of the concert showcased Bobby Rush on lead vocals…. and he is 91 years old!! He was funny, flirty, and engaging, as well as a great blues singer! So glad I bought their CD! After a brief break the KWS band returned with their regular lead singer Noah Hunt. What a showman! Love his voice and his vibe is just so cool, so happy!! And he is easy to watch!! (He almost has a Dave Grohl thing going on but he is much cooler than Grohl.) The band itself is flawless. Master musicians and they obviously love what they are doing. We felt like we were at a kick ass party instead of a concert! That’s how laidback and welcoming the band was, to just be a part of their moment. I’m 70 years old and have been going to concerts for 50 years. This was THE BEST Concert I ever attended!! Good venue and easy parking aside, I would see this band anywhere!!!

  • Awesome KWS Concert

by Gail H on 2/8/25Peabody Auditorium - Daytona BeachRating: 5 out of 5

This was an awesome concert as always. KWS is amazing on the guitar and Neil is great on vocals. This is the 3rd time seeing KWS, the first being about 25 years ago at Music Midtown in Atlanta. They always put on an amazing concert. We look forward to seeing them again next year.

  • Awesome Concert

by Bman on 2/7/25Peabody Auditorium - Daytona BeachRating: 5 out of 5

KWS"s guitar playing was spot on. He is on smooth dog. He looked so comfortable and in his element. The drummer, bassist, and singer also great. The addition of trumpet, sax, and pianist/organist added much flavor. Awesome show.

  • Great show at a great venue

    by E$ on 2/7/25Peabody Auditorium - Daytona BeachRating: 5 out of 5

KWS always puts on an amazing show. Not many can do it like he does! This was my first concert at this venue and the sounds was unmatched. I recorded a few clips and when I watch them back I can’t believe how great the sound quality is. Sounds like they were recorded in a studio. I hope more great artists come through here.
