About

KENNY WAYNE SHEPHERD IN CONCERT:

Guitar god Kenny Wayne Shepherd is one of the fiercest young axmen of his generation, and he continues to blow audiences away every time he takes the stage. The self-taught virtuoso is a sight to behold in concert, where his furious fingers and flailing blonde locks serve as the perfect counterpoint to the precision and ease of his razor-sharp riffs. Whether he's playing bluesy originals from 2014's Goin' Home or covering legends like Bob Dylan and Jimi Hendrix, Shepherd always treats fans to electrifying performances that are as heavy on pure gusto as they are on musical chops.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Shreveport, Louisiana-born Kenny Wayne Shepherd got his first guitar in early childhood and began learning the instrument with a unique self-taught method. He was quickly recognized as a guitar prodigy, and at age 13 he was invited to play on stage with blues icon Bryan Lee. His first performance at the Red River Revel Arts Festival in Shreveport attracted the eye of label execs, and before long Shepherd had signed a multiple record deal with Giant Records. His 1995 debut album Leadbetter Heights topped the blues chart, a feat he repeated with five subsequent albums including his 1997 sophomore album Trouble Is... -- the longest-running album on the Billboard Blues Chart in history.  In 2014 Shepherd released his seventh studio album Goin' Home, another chart-topper that has fans eagerly awaiting his next must-see series of tour dates.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"I have seen Kenny Wayne numerous times and this was his best show yet. See him if you can!"

"Awesome show!!! Would definitely pay to see them again! He punished that guitar!"

"Kenny Wayne Shepherd and his band rocked the blues. What great musicians. His closing act of Jimmy Hendrix's 'Voodoo Child' was awesome."

  • Kenny rocks!

by Henley on 6/10/25Rating: 5 out of 5

What a time! Kenny rocks. These guys were playing guitar and making the crowd so hype. We went to the show at the Majestic Theatre last Friday and the whole house was bouncing! I want to learn to play the guitar now haha. If you like rock music and or Kenny, get to a live show. It was insane!

  • Master artists at work

by Bob on 5/30/25Avalon Theatre - Grand JunctionRating: 5 out of 5

An amazing night of watching two great artists perform. Bobby was full of energy at 91 and Kenny can shred the guitar, one of the best. Highly recommend and hope to see them both again.

  • Out for our Birthday celebration

by Zimmer on 5/19/25Avalon Theatre - Grand JunctionRating: 5 out of 5

What a Concert!! Best I've been to in years. Seeing Bobby Rush as well was a big bonus. Love, Love, Love the perfection in the guitar of Kenny Wayne. Would see him again if he came back!

  • Very entertaining

by Nj on 5/17/25Paramount Theatre - DenverRating: 5 out of 5

The coolest venue, not too crowded. Felt safe being there alone!! Music was tip top!!

  • Great music, mix too loud

by RKP on 5/17/25Paramount Theatre - DenverRating: 3 out of 5

The music was good, but as usual, the mix was way too loud to enjoy and actually hear individual instruments. Bass was muddy, horns indistinguishable unless taking solos. vocals were okay, keyboards lost except for solos.

  • Awesome Show!

by JW on 5/16/25Avalon Theatre - Grand JunctionRating: 5 out of 5

KWS and Bobby Rush rocked the Avalon. Kenny was on top of his game and Bobby at 91 years young still belted out blues licks on the harmonica like a youngster. My guests and I all loved this show!

  • Amazing!

by Mel on 5/16/25Avalon Theatre - Grand JunctionRating: 5 out of 5

What a talented guitarist and what a huge treat to see Kenny and Bobby Rush together! Was truly a great show! If you love the sounds of the late Stevie Ray Vaughan, you don’t want to miss this show!

  • Excellent concert in Grand Junction

by Ardnek on 5/16/25Avalon Theatre - Grand JunctionRating: 5 out of 5

Kenny Wayne Shepherd is one of the greatest guitar players that ever played the blues. I couldn't stop watching his fingers! Bobby Rush was very entertaining and looking good for being 91. Small venue. GREAT MUSIC! Please come back!

by Barry on 5/12/25Paramount Theatre - DenverRating: 5 out of 5

I saw Kenny Wayne about a decade ago and couldn't see how this could be as good as back then. Man was I mistaken! And what a treat Bobby Rush was!!!!!

  • Awesome!

by Lou on 5/12/25Paramount Theatre - DenverRating: 5 out of 5

Such a great show !!Kenny was wailing on that guitar!! Rush was fantastic !! I love the old theatre seats so much better than the expensive folding chairs that are so close together !!!

  • Underrated Guitarist

by JimK on 5/12/25Paramount Theatre - DenverRating: 5 out of 5

Kenny Wayne Shepherd is an extraordinary guitarist. He's been kind of pigeon holed with Blue on Black being popular and what people expect in an encore, which although it is a great tune, it may be only his 10th best. He could play everything from 'Live! In Chicago,"and still only scratch the surface. I catch his show whenever I can, and I'm always left wanting more.

  • Great show

by Bo on 5/12/25Paramount Theatre - DenverRating: 5 out of 5

Venue was great and Kenny Wayne Shepherd and Bobby Rush and the band were awesome.

  • Bobby Rush and Kenny Wayne

by Deedee on 5/12/25Paramount Theatre - DenverRating: 5 out of 5

The show was amazing The opener Bobby Rush was just awesome did not disappoint. 91 years young doing what he did, I hope I'm doing well at that age. Kenny Wayne never disappoints I've seen him several times and he is good at what he does. If y'all missed the show you missed a once in a lifetime event.

  • Rockin Kenny Wayne

by KStephens on 5/12/25Paramount Theatre - DenverRating: 5 out of 5

As expected. Terrific show! I’ve watched them for the last 30 years. Kenny Wayne and Noah show the same passion and enjoyment of their craft as they did in the beginning years. Kenny Wayne will go down as the best blues guitar player of all time. ;-) I will never miss a show within 1000 miles of my location, lol.

  • Great show in a great venue.

by Diane on 5/12/25Paramount Theatre - DenverRating: 5 out of 5

I have seen Kenny Wayne Shepherd several times over the years and he has always been great but I love that he plays these smaller venues like the paramount. Great show.

  • It was great seeing Kenny and Buddy for sure!

by Bradley on 5/6/25Templelive Fort Smith - Fort SmithRating: 3 out of 5

It was great seeing Kenny and Buddy sure! The PA at the event needs to be upgraded. I am sure that was not Kenny’s stuff. If so, take it to the pawnshop and update 😉 was so glad I caught the show
