About

KENNY WAYNE SHEPHERD IN CONCERT:

Guitar god Kenny Wayne Shepherd is one of the fiercest young axmen of his generation, and he continues to blow audiences away every time he takes the stage. The self-taught virtuoso is a sight to behold in concert, where his furious fingers and flailing blonde locks serve as the perfect counterpoint to the precision and ease of his razor-sharp riffs. Whether he's playing bluesy originals from 2014's Goin' Home or covering legends like Bob Dylan and Jimi Hendrix, Shepherd always treats fans to electrifying performances that are as heavy on pure gusto as they are on musical chops.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Shreveport, Louisiana-born Kenny Wayne Shepherd got his first guitar in early childhood and began learning the instrument with a unique self-taught method. He was quickly recognized as a guitar prodigy, and at age 13 he was invited to play on stage with blues icon Bryan Lee. His first performance at the Red River Revel Arts Festival in Shreveport attracted the eye of label execs, and before long Shepherd had signed a multiple record deal with Giant Records. His 1995 debut album Leadbetter Heights topped the blues chart, a feat he repeated with five subsequent albums including his 1997 sophomore album Trouble Is... -- the longest-running album on the Billboard Blues Chart in history.  In 2014 Shepherd released his seventh studio album Goin' Home, another chart-topper that has fans eagerly awaiting his next must-see series of tour dates.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"I have seen Kenny Wayne numerous times and this was his best show yet. See him if you can!"

"Awesome show!!! Would definitely pay to see them again! He punished that guitar!"

"Kenny Wayne Shepherd and his band rocked the blues. What great musicians. His closing act of Jimmy Hendrix's 'Voodoo Child' was awesome."

KWS Band delivered just as we had hoped. It’s was my second time to see him, he keeps getting better. Unfortunate experience at the venue - my very nice black jacket was stolen from the back of my chair, who does that?? Looking forward to see this band again.

The Kenny Wayne Shepherd concert on March 24th was fantastic! The sound was perfect, we had good seats, the band played Trouble Is, and then came back for a whole second set. We couldn't have imagined a better experience.

  • THE BEST

by Jim on 3/27/23Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races - Charles TownRating: 5 out of 5

Kenny Wayne Shepherd is the world's greatest electric guitarist, bar none. I have personally seen him prove it, time after time. Seeing & hearing that talent never gets old...

The event was awesome, seating was tight but I was rocking out so it was fine. Real smoky getting to the event having to walk through the casino. but we made it. Drinks were reasonable

  • Amazing

by JennJ on 3/27/23Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races - Charles TownRating: 5 out of 5

What an amazing show! The theater was nice, and it wasn't a huge venue, so it felt intimate. The show was great, the performance was amazing, I had so much fun. I will definitely be going to another show!

  • Excellent concert

by CandyC on 3/27/23Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races - Charles TownRating: 5 out of 5

The concert was amazing. The venue is great. My only wish would be a little more space between each seat which might not be possible due to being a track type seat.

  • The venue!!!

by Woody Woodruff on 3/27/23MGM Northfield Park - Center Stage - NorthfieldRating: 4 out of 5

KWS was awesome and I HIGHLY recommend seeing him in concert. But the MGM Northview venue seating Sucks!!!! The chairs are very narrow, like for a 12 year old. And they were so close front to back, I couldn't even set my beer on the floor (no cup holders) without having to turn my head sideways and reaching with all I had. And I'm only 5'6". I will never return to that venue or any other MGM casino concert.

  • AWESOME Show!!!!

by LP maniac on 3/27/23Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races - Charles TownRating: 5 out of 5

Getting to see many of my favorite KWS songs played live was just outstanding! The fact that Chris Layton was on the drums made it even better for me as I am still a huge SRV fan, loved seeing him play! The level of talent and the love of performing was on full display Saturday night, it is the best show I have seen in 20 years!!

  • KWS rocks, but limits the blues

by JKSayHey. on 3/27/23MGM Northfield Park - Center Stage - NorthfieldRating: 3 out of 5

KWS really wailed his guitar for 2 hours at MGM Northfield. I think I counted 7 differnt ones. The orange glitter was really sharp looking. KWS pretty much rock'd the whole show, except for last song "You done lost your good thing now". I mean, he rocked, did the guitar god pose, but he could have played more blues! However, I realize this is the 25 anniversary tour for "Trouble is", but he could have at least done VooDoo Child. He did do a li'l Hendrix with "I dont live today" (Last time he was at Northfield, and started first few songs, all rockin, and as soon as he did a blues tune, the crowd went nuts.) He asked, "Oh you want some blues?" and crowd went nuts, so he played blues for the rest of the show. No one was sitting! March 23, I think the crowd sat for the whole show. Hmmmmmmm.

  • great show

First time seeing this band, liked the fact he performed then quit, I hate it when bands milk you for more applause by coming back, lead singer sounds great they are quite the team,

  • I'd defi itely do it again

3rd concert at mgm facility. 1st time actually seeing Kenny Wayne Shepard perform. Heard his music before but he and his band were so outstanding. Just hearing and seeing him play was like watching an artist show you why their creation is art and everyone else just plays. Venue is comfortable and the 2 hrs he played was just full of his fantastic music. His band and vocalist were so well seasoned. You can easily see the influence of stevie ray vaughn on Shepard's presentation style and music. Well worth the price of admission and then some.

  • Amazing

Kenny Wayne Shepard is by far the best of the best! He plays a guitar with so much passion and enjoyment. A true entertainer and compassionate to the music and to his audience. The night was truly magical!
