KENNY WAYNE SHEPHERD IN CONCERT:

Guitar god Kenny Wayne Shepherd is one of the fiercest young axmen of his generation, and he continues to blow audiences away every time he takes the stage. The self-taught virtuoso is a sight to behold in concert, where his furious fingers and flailing blonde locks serve as the perfect counterpoint to the precision and ease of his razor-sharp riffs. Whether he's playing bluesy originals from 2014's Goin' Home or covering legends like Bob Dylan and Jimi Hendrix, Shepherd always treats fans to electrifying performances that are as heavy on pure gusto as they are on musical chops.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Shreveport, Louisiana-born Kenny Wayne Shepherd got his first guitar in early childhood and began learning the instrument with a unique self-taught method. He was quickly recognized as a guitar prodigy, and at age 13 he was invited to play on stage with blues icon Bryan Lee. His first performance at the Red River Revel Arts Festival in Shreveport attracted the eye of label execs, and before long Shepherd had signed a multiple record deal with Giant Records. His 1995 debut album Leadbetter Heights topped the blues chart, a feat he repeated with five subsequent albums including his 1997 sophomore album Trouble Is... -- the longest-running album on the Billboard Blues Chart in history.  In 2014 Shepherd released his seventh studio album Goin' Home, another chart-topper that has fans eagerly awaiting his next must-see series of tour dates.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"I have seen Kenny Wayne numerous times and this was his best show yet. See him if you can!"

"Awesome show!!! Would definitely pay to see them again! He punished that guitar!"

"Kenny Wayne Shepherd and his band rocked the blues. What great musicians. His closing act of Jimmy Hendrix's 'Voodoo Child' was awesome."

  • Great Story Telling Blues

by Sweet Ponytail on 8/25/25Silver Creek Event Center at Four Winds New Buffalo - New BuffaloRating: 5 out of 5

The set with Bobby Rush was outstanding and a lot of fun. Mr Rush is still a fabulous entertainer at the age of 92 in November. The next set with the KWS band was great and a nice surprise. KWS fans around us made the evening even more enjoyable. One of the best concerts of the year!

by KenB on 8/25/25Silver Creek Event Center at Four Winds New Buffalo - New BuffaloRating: 5 out of 5

Four Winds Casino event center isn't the most comfortable, but there isn't a bad seat in the house. The stage is viewable from every seat and the sound system was excellent.

Great venue and It was awesome seeing KWS for the first time!

  • Don't sit in the balcony at the Pantages

    by m&m4reviews on 8/20/25Pantages Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 3 out of 5

KWS was good but the mix was horrible and all muddled. It wasn't until we took the trip to the main level near the end of the concert that we knew that the sound quality and mix was 100% better on the main level even at the back under the balcony. KWS played a good mix of songs and it is a concert worth seeing. The 3 star is about the concert experience, not just KWS. He very well may have received a 5, if I could have actually heard clearly what was happening.

  • Awesome show!

  • Another Great Show

by Redlinesnut on 8/18/25Lawrenceburg Event Center - LawrenceburgRating: 5 out of 5

I have attended many KWS shows over the last 30 years or so. They never disappoint. This show did not disappoint. As a performer, KWS is gracious, considerate and humble. It is an endearing experience to attend his show. He masterfully integrated Bobby Rush into the show. It was done with respect and reverence. If you are a blues fan, don't miss this show.

Just amazing! Bobby Rush was phenomenal! And the KWS band was exemplary! Nobody plays the blues better than Kenny Wayne Shepherd. He and Noah Hunt and the band ROCKED THE HOUSE! And for them to showcase 91 year old Bobby Rush warms my heart. Bobby Rush stole the show!!!!! BEST CONCERT EVER!!!!!!
